It's not a large theater, so all the seats have a good view of the stage. The sound system and lighting are fine. Parking- limited, so go early. Location-just a block or so off a main thoroughfare (Prince Avenue) Behind one of the beautiful old white mansions -but watch for the small sign on Prince -it's easy to miss. There is free (good) coffee (provided by a local favorite, Jittery Jie's coffee) and a tiny concession stand.

And I have to say, this is probably one of my favorite places in all of Athens. I really like Town and Gown. It's sad that not more college students take the opportunity to go here, and act or direct or just generally have a good time helping or watching the shows. As it is, I know with the tragedy of what happened at the beginning of the summer, the people are tighter than ever, and it has only strengthened their resolve. $5 for sitting anywhere in the theater just can't be beat. The theater is small (and I wish it was bigger) but the fine quality of the acting really just makes this place a treasure for Athens. GO, get involved, and enjoy this place that I hope stays in Athens forever. 5 Stars well earned.

The Classic Center is an amazing venue for the physical education event that I have attended twice…read more Tons of space, high ceilings and generally good acoustics. There is so much room to move! The staff is a bit inconsistent. Some are friendly and helpful and some aren't They keep the bathrooms quite clean. The parking situation here is not very good. Of you are lucky enough to snag a spot it's good but the lot fills quickly. Overall I would come back to more events here in the future.

You will likely have to take rideshare or find somewhere else far away to park. When I attempted to park upon arriving at the Classic Center, an employee who was stationed outside the parking garage (to let people know it was full) pointed me toward parking for the courthouse a couple blocks away. When I drove over there, a courthouse employee told me that parking there is not allowed unless one has official courthouse business. So not only is their parking area very small, but they do not even give accurate information about where alternate parking can be found. It was incredibly frustrating. I ended up driving around for 30 minutes and finally settling for an expensive lot nearby just so I could get to my conference. Signage within the venue is virtually non-existent and employees are few and far between if you happen to have questions or need assistance. It's like they expect that everyone visiting this place has been many times before and knows the lay of the land, which is decidedly not the case. The sole reason I am giving two stars is because they did not skimp on air conditioning. It was on in full force the entire time I was at my conference, which is beyond necessary given the outdoor temperatures averaging 95 degrees with 80%+ humidity when I was in Athens. I would not have expected the air conditioning situation to go off without a hitch given the remainder of my experience here, but sometimes there are small silver linings.

There were young loves in fancy dress & starched shirts on picnic blankets tucking away the remnants of takeout chinese, older couples uncorking glasses of merlot over plates of lamb and potatoes, newlywed grad students in shorts & t-shirts throwing back bottled beers, married couples pretending they were dating again holding hands after a delicious meal across the street (that would be us), and a general sense of merriment and kindness you don't often find at too-highbrow art performances. But, this is no regular community theater performance... these folks are AWESOME. Really well done. Really well-played and really accessible Shakespeare, with everyone in the audience (about 50--it was an almost-rainy night) laughing in all the right places. A beautiful night, a funny story, a marvelous troupe, an appreciative audience, and wine... what more could you ask for?

But it is a historic theater so there are a couple downsides - such as there are 2 bathrooms total for men and women and it isn't really wheelchair friendly. The box office is open Monday through Friday, from 10:00a to 5:00p and an hour before performances. Surface lot parking is complimentary for performances at the Performing Arts Center. This was our first visit to the facility. We drove to Athens to see the Branford Marsalis quartet. The venue was nicely appointed, with comfortable seating and amazing lighting. From our seats in the mezzanine, we were perched over the musicians, and could perfectly view the performance. Unfortunately, we were behind the speakers, so while our sight line was uninterrupted, the sound was uneven and dull. Armed with this new information, our choice of seats will definitely change for future events.

She went though the dances pretty fast and didn't explain every move fully especially for a beginners class, but if you wanted to ask questions you could and made you feel comfortable doing so. The studio was big enough so everyone has room, the speakers were loud and full, and the room was a good temperature. They have other classes like ballet, jazz, tab, and much more. I definitely want to take more classes! Great first experience!

Jeremy is extremely knowledgeable and meets you at your knowledge level. I can only speak to the drum lessons, but they have 2 drum kits next to each other in a back sound-proof room, so he can show you something and let you try it out next to him. The sessions are very laid-back and he made me feel very relaxed getting things wrong and learning the right way. Since he knows multiple instruments, he often pulls out his bass or guitar and plays along with you. He teaches from a list of songs you know and are familiar with. My favorite genre is metal or alt rock so far I've learned Metallica, Fallout Boy, Paramore, Breaking Benjamin, among others. The lessons are a really great deal in my opinion, my price comes out to $100 for two 1-hour lessons. Can't beat that. They're very flexible on time and dates, and if you're running late or something else, he's very understanding. I couldn't recommend this place and instructor more. If you're on the edge of thinking of learning an instrument, take the leap and just hit the contact button on the website. I didn't regret it and these lessons are the highlight of my week.
