Golf outing with my buddies, This course is a favorite for our group since it is centrally located for most of us, and will not break the bank. They have a driving range and putting green It is a fairly short course, offering up a mixture of par 3's and 4's, with I believe 1 par 5. Greens tend to be small, with pin placement , some water and strategically placed bunkers to add some challenging shots. Overall, it isnt the fanciest course, but for the price its a great little course . 3 stars for quality, but ill give it 4 overall with staff, services offered and pricing. read more

Course was in mediocre condition. Greens were bad, fairways were spotty and brown. The 10th and 18th fairway are covered in atleast 100 range balls each. Good luck finding your actual ball. The pro shop staff was ok. The food was bland and terrible. The only good thing is the prices. compared to other courses it is cheap. Mainly because it is cheaply taken care of. read more

Enjoy this course - pricing better than others that are comparable. Assuming not delayed by anyone, it's got a good rate of play. They've got some water obstacles, a nice driving range, and plenty of parking. Good course for intermediate and occasional golfers - though I wouldn't say any courses are easy, this is not overly complex. read more

The course is walkable, but there are plenty of carts available which provide a breeze in this current heat wave. Plenty of parking. Walked the 18 within 3 hours. Fairways fast, greens even faster and in pristine condition. Last weekend was the City tournament. Reserved tee time online 7 days prior but have to login very early to get an early morning tee time. Especially before the Ladies group starts at 8 am. Weather was great in April. Price is right. To me, Davis Municipal is such a hidden gem. If you don't want to pay an arm and a leg to play 18 holes of golf, then Davis Muni is the place to come check out. The most I've paid to play here is $35 including the cart. Cheapest I've paid to play here was probably like $22. Aside from the price, I love playing here because it never seems to be too packed, so I don't feel rushed when playing. It's a par 67 course with a lot of water in play, but you really don't notice it with the exception of a few holes. However, there are a lot of trees, so you'll end up hitting the ball into the trees a lot (or maybe that's just me). The course is well maintained. The pro shop is currently closed due to covid, but the snack bar is opened, but of course, you can't sit inside and eat. Have yet to play at the driving range, but it doesn't ever look packed so that's a good thing. read more

Awesome course to play. Although it is only a par 67, it can be a tough course to play. There are many trees, lots of bunkers and several water hazard, all making for a fun course to play. There are 2 long par 3's out of the 6 on the course, you need accuracy on these. Jerry always has the greens and bunkers in great shape. There is a small café/grill that is good to hang out, eat and drink. They make the best patty melt west of the Mississippi !!! I am serious, I eat a lot of patty melts, but this really is the best! read more

You wouldn't know where the fairway, rough, or green, begin or end. Unless you live nearby or looking to get some practice in on the range or just pitch and put around, it's not worth it. read more

We came here with the boys (ages 5&3) for the driving range and to practice putting. It was well kept. When we were there it was pretty slow, but no one was too snooty that we were there teaching our rambunctious next generation to play. We had a great time. Bathrooms were clean. We will be back, seems like a nice family course where people just want to golf. We will be avoiding mornings and weekends to avoid peak times and days, but it was nice to have people wave at them and talk to them. We felt very welcomed. read more

Played this course today and enjoyed it! Not very difficult but a great course to up your short game. It wasn't to busy but most importantly relaxing! I will continue to frequent this course because I definitely need to work on my game. The guy in the pro shop was help and friendly and the ladies in the snack bar were also friendly. The pro shop isn't really big but great for the basic essentials. The golf carts also run very well and seem to be well maintained. If your a beginner or just want to get out and practice your short game then this is great course for you! Remember Just Have Fun! Well that's the advice I try to apply. read more

I have golfed here several times - the course is great for a Muni course. But, I ordered lunch with a coke ($1.50) after the round today and when I went back up to the counter for a refill, I was told that there are no free refills. The lady behind the counter seemed to think she was doing me a huge favor by pouring me some water in the same cup... .... for that, you get 1 star. read more

I have been playing golf now for 15 years and this is the first course I ever played. This is a great course for beginners. If you are a golf snob like some of the other guys who have one stars then this place is not for you. Whenever I lose my swing I come play here a few times a week to get back in my groove. Muni is a fun course to play, certainly it's the one I've played the most at. The rates aren't too bad, especially if you get a twilight rate or a coupon from the news letter (easy enough to sign up for on the website). Most holes are pretty much straight forward and the course is pretty flat. There's a water here and there and the par 3 7th is a fun hole to play (and pretend you're at TPC Sawgrass). I definitely enjoy the front 9 more than the back 9 (which has the courses only par 5). I've played here at times where the course has been in great shape, but also played when it's in pretty bad shape, so don't get too turned off if your first round isn't spectacular. The most frustrating thing about the Muni course is that it's often crowded, especially on the weekend. Don't be surprised if your tee time gets pushed back or if you have to wait for groups throughout the course. But hey, they have bloody marys, so at least there's something to drink while you wait to tee off on those Saturday mornings. read more

Who doesn't love a golf course with some family history! I worked here for over a year for both maintenance and range crews. A new hole is cut every morning and every sand trap is raked as well. The greens are an 8.5 out of 10 and that's saying a lot for being only $10 to play after a certain time. Great fairways. You won't find a bad lie if you keep your drives straight. Not too many obstacles to deal with (ex. Trees in the middle of the fairway). There are 6 par 3's, 11 par 4's and 1 par 5. Great course for a beginner all the way up to a PGA pro. read more

This is a great Muni Golf Course. Easy to walk and it has lots of trees to shade the fairways. This is a course that must be played walking. If you drive you are just wasting money here. They don't allow coolers on the course but they do have a drink cart that seems to be readily available when you get thirsty. I have seen better maintenance on driving ranges and it seems that most hackers/ slicers leave their driving range balls on the 1st fairway and the 18th. So... if you don't watch it and go to the Right, be prepared to have good eyes. It's like an easter egg hunt. read more

Um... no comment lol. However, I'm very serious about working on my technique and trying to hit that little golf ball as far as I can! (So far, my best is ~100 yd w/ my 7-iron, holla!) I must thank UCD men's golf coach Cy Williams and women's bball coach Sandy Simpson for teaching me the skills I possess as a noob. Side note: Before you Aggies graduate, try to fit in a golf PE class with either of these guys. You won't regret it! *Yelper Disclaimer:* I can only talk about the driving range b/c I am not confident enough to do the full 18-holes, even though I've been told it's pretty easy and good for beginners. Don't judge me! :p As a chick, I dig Davis Muni because it's less intimidating than Wild Horse. I only went there because that's where the UCD golf PE classes were held. For me, Wild Horse is nice but just a bit scary as a beginner female golfer. Like my fellow Yelpers have said, this place is cheap. One token is $3.50, whereas it's $5 at Wildhorse. However, if you buy 2 at once, Wildhorse charges you $8 for supposedly 90 balls. I'm not about to start counting the golf balls in my basket, so I'll assume my saving of $1 is worth it. OC'S CHICK TIP: Wear Bug-Off if you're prone to bug bites. Last time a girl friend and I hit up the range 30 min before dusk, we were attacked by bugs. I'm sure the ladies and gentlemen out there can both agree that legs covered in bug bites are not zesty. read more

I am a terrible golfer. Beyond terrible. Laughable. The Davis muni will set your mind at ease that there is hope. It is as well maintained as a small, underfunded public course will allow, but the gem and beauty of this course is that it is short enough and wothout as many hazards, and as such will make you believe that you can actually play this game and keep coming back. Love this course because not too many hazards and is easy on the pocketbook. Make sure your check which days you select to play because of the many tournaments on weekends and weekdays. (Seniors play every Thursday morning). Started playing here in 1965 when it was privately owned and just a pasture with 9 holes, a dirt road, and a single wide trailer as the club house. Its come a long way and is always fun. Fairly wide fairways, well kept greens and plenty of medium length holes to help get you more birdies. (Home course advantage) read more

In my opinion, this golf course is THE worst golf course me and my family have ever been to. They have the absolute worst customer service, they don't have the slightest regard for their customers, and they turn away children for no reason. I believe the supervisors name was Mark, I am not sure if he was having a bad day, but my 4 year old felt personally attacked by the supervisor, he did not allow my child to play with his dad under the pretense that "there are no spectators allowed" However the child was not a spectator, he was there to learn and play golf with his father. I am sure Mark doesn't care, but he made my 4 year old feel really bad, unwanted and basically ruined a child's day, I had to explain to my child that sometimes there are just some mean Grinches out there. It is a shame because we live like 10 mins away from this golf course but we will never be going there again. read more

Ok, maybe I'm becoming "elitiest" about my golf, but I just can't handle Davis Muni. The last time I went, the course was rock-hard, like it hasn't been watered in way too long. I hit a drive that lands in the middle of the fairway, and rolls-through...disappointing. The greens are super slow. If you go from here to a "regulation" course, you'll find yourself adjusting putt speed drastically. Also, just about every time I play, I get teamed-up with at least one beginner, and spend about 5.5 hours to get through what should be a 4-hour round...but I guess that's fine...everyone must learn somewhere. As for this time of year, there is no "rough" really...and what their is, is really patchy. As for the price...well yeah...dirt cheap....and that's what keeps me coming back. If I was paying much over 10-bucks, I wouldn't come here at all. read more

Great course to work on your game. I play here at least once a week, it's affordable and a good course to walk and get some practice. It's not a very challenging course and it doesn't have the beauty of a semi private course but for a casual game it's perfect. The course is well maintained for the most part, but for the price and the public aspect you really couldn't ask for more. The course is rather flat as as are the greens so it's a good course to practice at and not worry about getting overly frustrated. It has a little water play and bunker protected greens on most holes. The twilight rate is great and the normal green fees are not to bad, it's also a great walking course. read more

I wish I could give this course a higher rating because the course itself is in good shape but it has gotten to a point where it is very unenjoyable to play here anymore. There are no marshall's (at least not that I've ever seen in the 5 times I've played here). My husband and I played here today and for the third time in a row we ended up behind a large group of kids just screwing around on the course. These kids were being extremely slow and not following any of the general golf etiquette. They were driving all over the place including in the tee boxes and on the greens. They would pick of he flag and throw it on the green leaving huge marks and divots. And the pro shop did not care and did not even say anything to them. If they get some good marshall's I would love to play here because it is a great short course and well maintained and only about 10 minutes from my house but until they start managing the course better and stop kids from breaking the basic rules I won't be playing here...I would prefer to spend a few dollars more and be able to enjoy my round. read more

OK, to be fair, and against my pledge to never play here again 15 months ago, I was forced to for an annual golf reunion this past weekend. Begrudgingly, I accepted. We played on a Friday afternoon and the pace was decent but what really surprised me was the condition of the course. It was in very good shape. For $21 bucks with a cart, I'd have to say it was a very good deal (we teed off after 3 and completed the round with plenty of daylight left). I doubt I will ever play here on a weekend again as there are too many idiots out there, but on a weekday in the AM or twilight, I think I will be enjoying a few more rounds here. read more

Love the course for a weekend round. We play here a few times per month, at least, and have donated at least a case of balls to the course, especially on the first water hole. Great for amateurs, newbies, and anyone who just wants to practice their game. Twilight rates are very inexpensive and it's a very playable course with nice shaded areas. A wonderful day at the Creelman Tournament for Kiwanis Family House. Course was lush and green. Greens seemed to have been punched and sanded some weeks ago but ball still ran fast and true. Staff was very polite and helpful. This is not a long course but it demands that you hit the fairways. Looking forward to coming back! read more
