The outdoor unit on my heat pump stopped running in the ice storm. When Davis technician came out he said two motherboards and a starter were bad. He also said one of the compressors sounded like it might be going. We decided I needed a new system. The quote he gave me for a 4 ton heat pump was over $21,000!!! I called a second company and told them of the issues. The second technician wanted to diagnose my current system before quoting a price on a new one. He got the system running with NO NEW PARTS. The cost of the visit was $109.00. I would never recommend Davis to anyone. read more

Totally overpriced!!!!!!!!!!!!! I called to discuss the ridiculous bill. Had a plumber come out and received a quote for a drain leak in my tub/shower. His quote was right at $1,300 dollars because he felt like it eas going to be difficult. He even went as far as to say that if he attempted it and couldn't complete it he would have to chargee something. So $1,300 still seemed high but it was going to be difficult repair. He came out a couple days later ( not an emergency as I have another working shower ) started his work and in 30 minutes part removed. Within 1 hr & 15 mins job was complete. Plumber went out to his truck to write up the bill and imagine my surprise when it was still $1,300 no adjustment for it not being hard at all. Part replaced with a cheap ass plastic drain assembly (no soldering in place ) cost of part $50 a Home Depot so $100 giving them 100% mark up. So that works out to $1,200 an hour plus or minus a few bucks. I personally don't know any plumbers that get or are worth $1,200 an hour. When I spoke to plumbing manager I explained all this to him and his statement was we charge by the job "flat rate" kind like a car mechanic. I told him that was fine but i also know their mechanics hourly rate and if they quoted me $1,200 an hour I would tell them they were out of their f-ing minds. The manager and i went around and around then he offers me $250 I begrudgingly took it because our conversation was going nowhere. All & all just piss poor quality for the extremely overpriced service. So call Davis plumbing if you want to be extremely over charged again I have lived on the west coast for several years and even in the Bay Area their plumbers didn't get $1,200 an hour even for emergency work read more

My heating system stopped working in the middle of the incoming storm. I called several places and they didn't service much area. I was so grateful to call this company and they informed me they serviced my area and once I told them about my issue they gave me a time frame of when the technician will be coming to my home to check out my heater. Jimmy came and was phenomenal! He found the problem..explained it to me and it was fixed within 15 minutes. He also informed me about the maintenance plan. I contacted Davis heating and cooling in Lynchburg to give me a price on metal ductwork for the supply, Plenum and the return air Plenum. They sent a very nice man out, Bart. He went up into the attic and looked at it, took a couple of pictures and said I would get an estimate the next day. The next day I got a very rude phone call from a salesman who said to me, "your attic is such a mess we don't wanna get involved." He was so discourteous, I said to him, "is this how one human treats another now"? Subsequently, I made three different attempts to reach the owner of Davis Heating and Cooling. His name is Richard Tolbert. I left messages twice, and I was so unimportant he didn't bother to return my messages. When I called the third time, they said the man who came out and inspected my attic, and the salesman would give me a call. I heard from them later. Right off the bat, the salesman started lying about the conversation he had with me. I told the Bart that I didn't want to talk to him and that I did not want him to be part of our conversation. At that time the salesman left the line, Bart said that he would work up an estimate and send it to me the next day. I never received the estimate. So on Saturday I sent him a text message, saying where is the estimate? On Monday Bart replied that he had sent it, and I advised him that I never received it. He then texted me the proposal, so let me explain the proposal. I have a new condenser (2 yes old) on the outside of the house for a 2 1/2 ton heat pump. Up in the attic. I have a heat pump, air handler and return air configuration that Davis doesn't like. The proposal was to replace the equipment up in the attic and give me a new supply Plenum and a new return air Plenum. So basically what I was doing was getting the air handler only part of the system and two plenums made out of sheet-metal. I hope you're sitting down for the price. Barts price was over $7000 for a 2 1/2 ton air handler. In 2023I had a 2 1/2 ton central heat pump system installed in my house in Arizona for $4800. Davis wants over $7000 for half of a heat pump system and two pieces of sheet metal ducting. I believe that is highway robbery. I believe that is a get rich quick price. Because of that, I would never recommend Davis heating and cooling to anyone. In fact, if you don't get at least five competitive bids, you're gonna get screwed. Davis Heating and Cooling is not a company I would recommend to anyone. When I Purchase the 2 1/2 ton heat pump system in Arizona, I got five different bids, all from "reputable" companies. The first bid was over $14,000; the second bid was $7800; the third bid was $7000; the fourth bid was 6500; the bid I accepted was for $4800 completely installed and it was for a Goodman unit. Davis Heating and Cooling does a whole lot of advertising I think including by mail and tons of advertising on the Internet. I believe if you do business with them you're going to pay significantly more than you should pay for the value that you get. I just hope a lot of people who are thinking about doing business with Davis Heating and Cooling read this review and take my advice. The fact that I am 80 years old and living on Social Security only means nothing to people like Davis, heating and cooling. read more

Very unprofessional, unreliable and costly! I cannot recommend. Davis Heating was hired to purchase and install a ceiling AC/Heating unit for our house. They installed half the unit and have been waiting months for them to return and install the outside part of the unit. Have left countless messages and can't even get a call back! Buyer beware! I will not be doing business with them in the future. Do get estimates and compare because their fee's were much higher than other reputable companies in the area. read more

Called about an estimate to replace duct work on manufactured home. Salesman came out as scheduled. Showed him the issue and he said "I have never seen this before" ( should have been a a red flag) when I showed him the specific issues. He took a picture and said he would have to discuss with the owner and get back to me the same day, Friday. Today, Monday I called and asked about estimate. He stated he talked to the owner and said they were not comfortable replacing duct work in a manufactured home. Not very professional of them not calling me back, If he would have called back as he promised about this I would have understood but me have to call to find out is poor service. Interesting. I had left a review on here prior and it was magically removed, so let me give it again with the NEW present situation. WOW. So, please read this story and choose your HVAC/AC Technician accordingly. And please note: This is the first time I have ever asked for money back from a company in my 6 years of owning my home and getting things serviced.) 1) Called 6 months ago. The issues with and estimation given for the first of 2 times a technician showed up was $150 less than ACTUAL charge. Actual charge was $285. 2) I was not in home, so I had asked for the technician to give me specifics on what was wrong and what needed to replaced prior to them doing the work. I had asked for this specifically because I was not there, and being a woman that/sounds looks young, I have had mechanics and technicians try and take advantage of my apparent *inexperience* of how a home or car works, so I did this to make sure I wasn't taken off guard before being charged. They had said they needed my credit card prior to them coming, so I gave it to them specifically stating that I should be called and given a report on what needed to be done before doing the work and being charged. I had also called right prior to the inspection and talked to a rep who confirmed I would be called and given the report on what needed to be done before charges. This did not happen, and I was called AFTER I was charged! 3) They refilled the refrigerant and replaced a filter. The filter was JUST replaced and not needed (within 6 mo). The tenants in home watched technician fill the refrigerant/put filter in and sit in car for half hour afterwards. However, they charged me for this half hour. When you go online you can see the approximate time it takes to fill refrigerant, confirming how long it *should* have taken and what my tenant had said. 4) Called company and asked for reimbursement and also let them know I just had filter replaced and not needed. The person who owns the company was unworkable and would not give refund so I had to go to my bank. My bank asked if I was asking for the full $150 back or if I would be okay with half. I said half was okay, and was trying to be fair even though they did work I did not authorize and should not have been charged that much. So my bank granted my request of the dispute for $80 back with no issues on my end. 5) Had issues with my condenser ever since the refund, when prior never had issues. Now it is affecting the sale of my home! WOW THESE GUYS ARE A REAL GEM! When I just called them 30 minutes ago, they said they only give warranty for 30 days!! Will not send someone out to fix the problem that *MAGICALLY* started around the time of the refund from my bank! Do you know how much additionally it has costed me for my heating bill?! It has been $400-$500/mo!!!! Now I will go to my bank for refund of full price with my utility statements and let them know my personal interactions with the company that has been completely terrible.
