Beware of purchasing an "All Day" parking permit. I feel I was hoodwinked. The permit is really…read morenot for all day. They have redefined the term "All Day" to mean eight hours! You will be charged a $35 violation if you think you can get on Amtrak at 7AM and return more than eight hours later. It is sad there is nowhere in downtown Davis where one can park for more than eight or ten hours except at the Amtrack parking lot. Good luck getting a spot here. It fills up by 6:30 AM.

You just gotta enter on 17th Street and get a ticket (sometimes there will be a worker there that will be pressing the machine and giving them out). Make sure you take the ticket with you to get in from the 16th street entry doors (otherwise gotta walk all the way around to 17th street main entrance). It is recommended to pay with card at the paystations before exiting, but if you want you can pay with card or cash to attendant when leaving. Attendant also told me it is only $2 if you come after 4pm...so good for if you have a night out too! It feels pretty safe, well lit, and haven't had any issues!

You can walk in both directions from this parking lot. Lots of birdhouses and birds along the trail. There is also a swimming hole if you walk towards the right. There is also a free outdoor bee museum nearby that is fun to check out.
