I couldn't have been farther off base in my assumption. The only similarity is the helpful staff working in the store, which gained this place an extra star. They greet patrons as they enter and offer to help them find things. Initially, I said I was going to browse around a little and pick up the things I needed. I ended up going back asking for help finding items I was looking for. The clerk working helped me look for the items I needed and then told me they are not actually an Ace Hardware Store anymore. They're an authorized Ace retailer, so they now sell some Ace products, but don't carry all normal items. She wasn't kidding! They don't carry most Ace products. No paint, no stain, etc. This place is mostly a feed store, I guess. I ended up going to Home Depot to get what I needed, they had it. I simply prefer to support the small businesses in a community. In this case, I bought two items at each place. I will try visiting another Ace hardware that's across town that the clerk recommended. I'm pretty sure I won't be back to this store.

I cannot comprehend how they can fit everything I need in such a small store without it feeling overly cramped -- but they do it well here! They will give honest recommendations for what you ask and will not try to upsell you on products just to make an extra buck. They are more focused on earning loyal, returning customers than creating a bad experience with higher sales. I went here at least twice a day for about ten days, so I can honestly say I had the full Home Depot experience. This location is well stocked, and the workers are extremely knowledgeable. I had plumbing questions; they were answered. I had tool questions; they were answered. Anything I threw at them they were able to help me with. I used the tool rental multiple times. While a little expensive, they had what I needed and once again answered any questions about the tools I had. By the way, if you are looking to rent a finishing nailer, get the butane powered one. It's awesome. Pow Pow Pow! The nails just keep on coming! It made work fun. In all my trips to this location, whenever I asked a worker where anything was, they walked me to that spot. They did not point it out, or walk me halfway there; they took me to the item. By contrast I happened to stop into the Davis location while I was in town. I asked where something was. The worker told me, "Isle X." They did not offer to show me or anything. That is the difference in customer service. While every other Home Depot I have been to has been a three star, this place is a five star!
