The office experience was bad. There's a theme here. Others have made similar comments on Google…read moreand Yelp. Here's mine: I made an appointment online and received both email and text confirmations. I go to my appointment, the woman says that she has nothing showing for me. I respond that I made an appointment for 8:30 with Advantage. She looks up at me and says, "This is orthopedics, where are you supposed to be?" I reply that I'm supposed to be here. Again, "No, this is orthopedics, where are you supposed to be?" So I give the doctors name, who is an orthopedist, which stops her from repeating the condescending implication that I'm in the wrong location a third time, she then asks my first name and birthdate. Looks at the screen and says, I see that there was an appointment and you canceled it. I tell her that I never cancelled it. Anywho, she brings out what I assume is an office manager or combo manager and nurse, who tells me that I would have received a text to respond to for confirming the appointment, and if I hit a 2 rather than a 1 then it would be cancelled. I say that I didn't get a text. She repeats her statement again, to which I repeat my answer. After I search my phone and find the original email and text confirming my appointment, I tell her I see no other messages asking for a 1 or 2. During the ensuing discussion she says not once, not twice, but three times that she's never seen that before - implying that she's never seen a cancellation occur without the patient doing it - clearly implying it's my mistake. After I adamantly respond that there is no text as she describes in my phone, she says sorry but fortunately she has an opening in two hours. I say I can't wait that long. To which she says that she'd take me in sooner but that would put the doctor behind. Well, I guess if he has an opening in a couple hours then he wouldn't be behind after that but I guess that thought never reoccurred to her and by that time I had enough and left. So I get back home and call the main line. Very nice and competent lady doesn't give me implications that I went to the wrong location or it's my error that the appointments been canceled. She just LISTENS. She checks and finds no record that I canceled the appointment. She sees an explanation that implies a problem with an upgrade by their third party scheduling service. Well there's the answer then, thank you. Can you please tell the ladies at the office that despite them not having seen it before, there is a situation where the system, not the patient, cancelled an appointment. Yes, she will do that. But it doesn't end there unfortunately. Despite how nice and helpful this lady is in trying to get me in asap, there is a policy that all appointments require a doctor referral. My insurance doesn't require this, and after a wasted trip plus 25 minutes on the phone, I'm not inclined to make yet another call and be on hold for god knows how long to get a referral. The nice helpful lady says let me ask somebody.... After a while on hold she comes back and explains that it's their policy not because my insurance requires it, but because they've had billing problems when they don't have a referral. Hmm, I've never had that with any other of the numerous specialists I'd seen in the past ten years without a referral. Sorry, but the higher up person says that's the way it is.... so no appointment for me since I refuse to do business with nonsense. In case Advantage reads this, a couple pieces of advice from a guy who worked 25 years in insurance companies, primarily working on claims compliance audits. First, you may want to consider a different third party scheduler. If their upgrades cause appointments to be cancelled, then they do not do adequate testing before release. I can't tell you how many similar glitches I've seen in my career by software companies cutting corners. Second, if you're having a billing issue when other medical providers in the same situations don't, then you might want to look at that too. Many claims examiners in insurance companies have told me of their frustrations with some billing services never getting things right. If your appointment scheduling system is from the same entity providing your billing services, then that should tell you something. Anyway, finding a good doctor is of little relevance if you cannot even get in to see them because of lousy admin.

I was sent to him by the VA due to chronic neck and back pain with x-rays and MRIs to back it up, as well as a couple of sports-related injuries, including a poorly-healed broken elbow and a complete rupture of the gluteus minimus and medius (having surgery on that in a couple of weeks). He only cared about the neck, didn't want to hear about anything else. Zero eye contact, no facial expressions, clipped and monotone. I asked a couple of questions but had to repeat myself because he ignored me. When he was done fiddling with his computer, he did have a plan; come back for some nerve blocking (or whatever it's called) which should work for 4 HOURS. Then keep a pain journal so they know if they're in the right area. So... nothing today? "No." Why not? "We need authorization from the VA. Could take days, could take weeks. Don't know." Can I get something for the pain in the meantime?? (No history of abuse or addiction, all injuries well documented.) "No. Nothing. It was nice to meet you." Then he walked out. The office staff were nice, but you couldn't pay me to go back to that place. From their parking lot, I reached out to the VA to find a different provider - which took about 10 minutes total. They were eager to take my statement and apologized for Oleg's behavior. Oh, and the authorization I needed to wait for? They had it the entire time. Everything he wanted to do was included in the referral that had already been approved.

Turns out I do need a hip replacement after all. Who knows how long I would have had to wait and be in pain until Dr Dales thought it necessary for a hip replacement. I specifically told them I was trying to find a Dr for my child but also wanted to get my husband and myself established too. I wanted one Dr for all 3 of us. I was told one Dr would not be able to handle the work load, so the needed to split us up amongst 2 drs. Fine.. it took over 2 weeks and like 3-4 calls for them to schedule us. They kept calling and asking the same questions and told me they would call me back. Finally got scheduled. I get to the building and it's older than dirt, smells like my gmas house. I believe I was the only patient there, I didn't see any cars in the front parking lot, only the back lot which I assume were the employees. Didn't see a single person other than employees. I probably saw around 10 employees which was mind boggling for the lack of patients. Not only is the building old, but also everything in the building. The receptionist was using one of those ink printing calculators - which begs the question: why type of computer programs do they have if you need to use an ink printing calculator?! The patient chair in the room (the one that moves up and down, and is usually covered with paper) looked to be from the 50s. It was not a "paper dispensing" chair, they only had a puppy pad looking medical sheet where your bum goes. The MA didn't even know how to operate it all the way, she couldn't put the leg part down. My blood was taken in room by the MA which was odd to me, there's usually an in-clinic lab with a phlebotomist or whatever. This was my "new patient appt" and they wanted to do a breast exam and pap, which was odd to me. The pap was skipped because I'm 9 months pregnant. In talking with the dr she mentioned I should have received a pap by my OB and I told her I did but it was "half of a pap" because I'm pregnant and she didn't want to mess with my cervix. The Dr proceeded to be like "these new drs these days, I don't know what they are doing, medicine always changes" which honestly made me feel like she was the one who didn't know what she was talking about and unprofessional. To top off - I found out they don't even see infants! That was literally why I was trying to find a DR! I specifically mentioned that when I called to schedule appointments. The reason they don't see kids under 2 is BECAUSE THEY DIDNT HAVE ANY and they kept needing to throw away all the very expensive vaccines. What does that tell you?! NO ONE COMES HERE. NO ONE TRUSTS THEM TO CARE FOR CHILDREN. I could go on.. don't waste your time.

Had he not gone in and gotten those knees of his replaced when he did, he would have been in a wheelchair within the next few years. I can't even remember anymore, how bad both his legs were from his arthritis. To give a shout out to my husband, he took his part of taking care of his new knee replacements very seriously. Within 9 days of both surgeries he was back to work. I think he thinks he's Superman. Dr. Mesnier is supposed to be a good ankle surgeon and I have been trying to get an appointment since March 2025. Despite a physician referrral, good insurance, an increasingly unstable painful ankle I can barely walk on, an MRI with ligament and tendon tears, and filling out all the online paperwork, I have yet to see her. It's August. Her office cancelled my first two new patient appointments with short notice. Christina hasn't requested my records or MRI scan, even though I filled out and signed a request with my new patient paperwork. Yesterday I asked if she'd received my imaging and she said "No, I haven't requested it because it takes a really long time for them to send it, so it's the patient's responsibility." I told her I have to cancel and reschedule a half day of my own cancer patients for these appointments they keep cancelling, and asked if she could make my appt on a day when that won't happen. Her reply: "It's not my fault if patients need surgery". Nice. It doesn't seem like they want my business, so I guess it's not my fault if I go somewhere else. Dr. Mesnier probably doesn't know this is happening, and unfortunately this review is the only way to communicate with her. I will happily update it and the rating if I end up seeing her and having a good experience!
