This review is specific to the Mocksville location. Three months ago I got lucky and was able to make a schedule an appointment at this office. You can make an appointment online for the morning hours. The afternoon hours are for walk-ins only. Trust me on this. Schedule your appointment way in advance from when you need it. If the online reservation site shows no slots, keep looking until you find one. If you try the walk in method, you will find long lines and long wait times. Talking hours to wait. When I got there at 9:00 AM, there were probably 20 people waiting, and only 2 DMV workers. I went to the window and told them I had an appointment. I was quickly ushered in. The process to get my real ID took 5 minutes. The worker taking care of me was very efficient, fast, and professional. I was very impressed with the service, and very glad I got an appointment slot.

There is no way to make an appointment because there are none within the next 90 days (even driving an hour or more away). I got here at 8:15am, waited three hours outside, in June. And the cherry on top is you have to go to a completely different location to title your car. They won't let anyone in the waiting room unless you have an appointment. The waiting room is air conditioned, with plenty of chairs. So the waiting room will have three people and there will be 20 waiting out in the hot sun. Get a chick fil a representative in here and get some efficiency.

We were already in Greensboro for the weekend so driving to downtown High Point wasn't too far out of the way. We just needed an appointment ASAP for an upcoming trip out of the country! The confirmation email I received after scheduling our appointment online asked for us to arrive 10 minutes early, and I can see why because at 2:30 PM they were really busy! This post office has a sign up on the wall asking for a limit of 4 people to be inside at a time, which people were clearly not following, but there was no one in the separate room for the passports, so it was fine for us... At least everyone was wearing a mask! The woman helping us get our applications in order was very friendly, helpful, and made great small talk while we were there. My appointment for 2 adults was scheduled from 2:30 - 3:00 but we got everything taken care of, including photo (and a retake or two), and were out of there within 15 minutes! I was pretty impressed. On our way out, we did encounter someone asking us for a dollar, which is always a little uncomfortable, but other than that, the passport service here was 5 stars from me.

More like Lexington vs. Salisbury, Statesville, etc.. Nice town of 18,000 plus population, between Charlotte and Greensboro. Part of the Piedmont Triad with Winston-Salem, Greensboro and High point. The BBQ capital of North Carolina and recognized as one of the top places in the US for BBQ. I had low expectation of Lexington before visiting but I was wowed by how much this small town has to offer. Downtown This may be one of the best downtowns I have seen for a town of its size. Very healthy downtown area. Lots of shops, restaurants and places to get an adult drink. Downtown Lexington has a couple of places that are rare these days. One, a downtown grocery store (old school grocery) Conrad and Hinkle. Two, an old hardware store. Downtown grocery and hardware stores have all but gone away, so it is great to see both of these places doing well here. Parking is street parking, at least I didn't find any parking garages or lots. Signs on Main Street state two hour parking which is better than paid meters like you see in other places. There is a depot district in downtown that has a couple of breweries. This section also has a lot of empty buildings that appear to be old textile or furniture companies. This section of town has a lot of promise if they can get the right businesses to come in. Downtown Lexington is a great place for a day trip. Highly recommend it. Outside of downtown For a city of only 18K, you have about every big box store you need. Plenty of grocery store variety as well. There are at least three wineries close by, including Childress Vineyards on the west side of town. Oh and don't forget about the many BBQ places. I85 runs through the city. This gets you to Greensboro to the north and Charlotte to the south. Winston-Salem is a 20 minute or less drive from Lexington which is great.

If you've never been, the renovation that was done on this theater a few years ago brings an incredible art deco space to downtown Lexington. The interior is very well executed. There is a small bar/concession stand inside, and the staff is very friendly. Though we only attended an event in the lobby, we did like our head into the theater and it's a very beautiful space. They seem to host movies, plays and concerts in the theater. There is also a small ball room that can be rented for private parties. The Smith is definitely helping bring life back to Lexington, a great space for events and gatherings. If you get the chance, check this spot out

We had to call up there ahead of time (when things were still a blur) and whoever we spoke with at that time was very helpful and patient. We then called back again when we had our ducks in a row and spoke with Daniela. She was incredibly helpful and answered all the questions we had (which were plentiful!). There are many documents needed in matters like this so best to call ahead and ask the questions. They also emailed the list of documents needed, which was helpful. When we got there to the window inside the courthouse, Danielle was there and greeted us and again was very helpful. Another lady with blonde hair helped us to complete the process and she too was professional and kind and helpful. We left there with the Mission accomplished, and we're so grateful! In case you've not been in a court house lately, no purses, backpacks, phones or smart watches are allowed inside. (Hence the lack of photos inside) If you forget to leave them in your vehicle, you will have put them in a locker, which require quarters.
