He does walk in cuts and color, but I know my hair is very very slow to bleach so went with his next appointment. Very responsive, confirmed all the details as he worked. His cutting is so fast and so smooth, you can tell he's a pro with many years experience. I was worried about the color because most barber shops don't have a lot of vivid colors to work with, but you can see it came out vibrant! He has mild difficulties in English but was easy to understand and work with, and I don't speak a word of his language. Cantonese I think? Possibly also Mandarin, I thought I heard a different language with a different customer. My hair lifted weird at one point, my last dye job migrated up into the virgin hair I think, but he was able to even things out and get even, vivid coverage. Amazing, definitely coming back. A word to anyone not used to barber shops (and a response to one of the complaints) barbers cut other people's hair while you're bleaching/ dyeing. My hair took over an hour to bleach (that's normal for my hair) I wouldn't want him standing there making no money just to watch me sit. He checked in all the time, kept an eye on my bleach and color, I was never forgotten. I see complaints that he's cutting while you're sitting - duh. He should, unless you want to pay him "watch you and not working" money, that's a weird expectation. The whole process took over 3 hours, only 10-15 was the cut, bleaching just takes a long time in my hair even at 40 volume. My hair feels very soft still, and he wanted to charge something in the 200s, which is insanely affordable and way lower than he deserves. I didn't see anyone coming in for more salon/feminine cuts so I can't speak to that, but if you want a traditionally masculine/ barber type cut, he's the best and does a great job.

If you don't know what kind of a hair cut to get, she'll suggest a cute one for you. She explained how she was going to cut my hair so that it would frame my long oval face nicely. I had waist long hair which she layered and curled. The extremely small salon had 3 chairs for hair, 2 chairs for nails, and a small back room for waxing. There was a steady stream of local customers that also seemed happy with the services they've purchased. That day, Maggie just so happened to have made some red bean with purple wild rice dessert. On top of the complimentary treatment she gave us 10% discount off our bill. I am definitely coming back because she fixed my hair, and it feels so light. I have coarse thick hair, and she made it manageable and cute. On top of that she got rid of all my split ends, and made sure I was happy with my cut as well as my moms. Then one day, Wifey told me that Ken was back and was now working at a different location. I quickly texted him and confirmed that he was back for good and I immediately booked an appointment. Ken and the current owner used to work at Hair Designers at Skyline Plaza and that's where I met him and I became his regular. I initially thought he was gay until I discovered he had kids. I just revealed this to him recently and he said it's OK and it was a common misconception. We had a good laugh...always do. Prior to Ken, I had two regular barbers/hair stylists that I used to frequent and one sadly passed away (may she rest in peace) and the other one moved out of state. Finding the perfect barber is quite an exhausting process so to finally connect with one and become in sync with one another is like a harmonious balance of nature. All I have to say is, "The usual" and not having to explain how I want my hair done is such an underrated, satisfying and relaxing feeling knowing I am in good hands. Not only does he cut my hair but my wife's too. We have aged along the way and have had lots of countless conversations that we practically know each other's lives like the back of my head. After realizing I hadn't had a trim for a year I really needed to do something about my dead/damaged hair. Fannie did such a great job washing & restoring my locks. She trimmed off enough where I felt like I lost 5lbs but not too much where I was beginning to look like a little Chinese girl in elementary school. She layered it nicely so that the split ends were taken care of as well then blew dry/straightened it out for me to show me how it would look if I were to actually try in the mornings.
