If I could give David's Furniture 0 stars I would. My husband died in March of 2015. As a gift to myself, I purchased, with part of the insurance money I received, an approximately $13,000.00 extra large, deep seated, (supposedly) high end leather sectional from David's for the home I had moved into. I explained to the sales person over and over we had three dogs, and was looking for a piece that would last a long time and stand up to dogs getting on and off the furniture. I was assured this piece would do it.
There were problems from the beginning. The couch cushions slid off the couch every time someone sat down or got up. (This is a sleek modern design, meant to have clean lines) DAVID's sent someone out to put Velcro on the bottoms of the cushions. Velcro. On a $13,000 couch. They did this twice. This "solution" did not work, either time, not to mention dog hair stuck all over the Velcro.
Eventually, DAVID's agreed to send it back to the manufacturer to have the issue addressed, and behaved as if they were doing me some sort of huge favor. They promised me furniture to use in my home until the repaired furniture could be returned to me. What was dropped off was used furniture from someone's basement. It was dirty. It did not match. It was disgusting. I refused to sit in it or allow anyone else to. It was in my home over the holidays and was an absolute embarrassment.
My furniture was eventually returned. The solution provide by the manufacturer does not work either. I am forever having to move the seat cushions back into place.
After I lived with the furniture a bit post-manufacturer "solution" I decided something needed to be done. The furniture was just not functioning properly. I met with the manager of the store in Mohnton, PA, where I purchased the furniture, and explained how unhappy I was. I requested to return it and have it replaced. He refused to do anything about it. I pretty much sighed and decided I just needed to suck it up, and never do business with them again.
The Mohnton store has since closed down. I am not surprised.
As of late, the leather (supposedly high end) is actually wearing away on the cushions. Literally wearing away. Although I dreaded it, given my past experience, I called Mr. Martin. This was after I had been told by Cindy at customer care that the company who manufactured the furniture had closed down so there was nothing that could be done.
I called Mr. Martin at the start of September 2019. He did not return my call. I called him again in early October of 2019. He did return that call either.
I finally got my resolve up and called again on Tuesday, December 3rd. He returned my call today; Thursday, December 5th.
Mr. Martin was ever so polite but said there was nothing he could do to help me. I responded that since he literally owns the company, there was nothing he was WILLING to do to help me. Mr. Martin quoted me a lot of policies (one of which was that after a year nothing could be done, I believe. I only recalled while writing this that I DID ask to return it within the first year and was told they could not do that) but it basically came down to the fact that Mr. Martin is unwilling to stand behind the product his company sold me.
I expressed to Mr. Martin I was surprised he could make a decision like this without seeing the furniture itself. He had no interest whatsoever in doing so. He simply refused to do anything at all to provide any solution at all.
I explained to Mr. Martin I was not looking for a full refund for the amount paid. I have had and used the furniture in my home for almost 4 years, after all. (I didn't actually have the furniture in home permanently for quite some time as it was returned to the manufacturer for those repairs I mentioned. And as I said, I asked to return the furniture early on and was told they would not do that. Had that been done, as it should have, we wouldn't be where we are today!) I explained to Mr. Martin I would be satisfied with either a partial refund or less expensive replacement furniture. Mr. Martin was 100% absolutely unwilling to do anything to help me. I even asked how he would feel if he'd paid $13,000 for a piece of supposedly high quality furniture that was not holding up at all; what he would want the company to do. He commented something about the wear and tear, but was still unwilling to come and see the furniture for himself. He had no interest at all in finding out about the inferior quality of the product sold by his company.
I am filing a complaint with the BBB. I don't know about anyone else, but $13,000 is a huge amount of money for me. I never in my life spent this much on furniture, and fully expected a product at this price to stand the test of time. Clearly, I was wrong.
I am sorry I ever went to David's furniture at all. I have taken a large amount of time to write this. It is my hope that it will prevent someone else from making the same mistake I did. read more
