David catered my party for approx 35 people. The menu was mainly passed hors d'oeuvres with a charcuterie table on the side. I expected a few things to nosh on in addition to the passed trays. I just had a Birthday party for my father for 90 people at my home where David and his team did such an incredible job in every aspect of the event. I was lucky enough to eat his food at an event he catered a couple months ago and I got his card and called him right away. He and his staff went above and beyond to make this evening special. All so kind and professional and made me feel so well taken care of and stress free. So many people asked me for his information that night because they were so blown away. His food is world class. Catered event for a friend's party. Food was decent and David was outgoing and engaging. It wasn't the food or service that was off-putting but David's attitude towards one of his employees. I heard him using questionable language and tone with this employee to the extent that I would be discouraged from hiring David myself for an event. Perfect, the only way to describe the catered dinner at our home. The preparation was beautiful, including presentation and timeliness. All the guests could not stop raving about the food, how good every dish was. The staff, including Felipe and Jansen, took care of everyone and was attentive to every guest's need, from drinks on arrival, to the extra chocolate chip cookies with desert. We had fantastic Chanukah meal(s) prepared and delivered by David and his team. The deviled eggs, the three different Potato Latkes (with sour cream and apple chutney) were great starters. Then the squash soup and two different salads were great. Then the brisket entree was tender and so tasty. The kugel side reminded me of my mother's cooking. Then the donut holes with three sauces ended the meals (plenty of food for multiple nights) with a perfect combination of sweet decadence with options of Chocolate, Carmel, or Berry. If I could leave less than one star I would. The owner and staff have zero people skills and have a holier than thou attitude and think they are above all of the guests. We even heard them yelling at other vendors! The food was subpar and put together very sloppily. I saw a pan he was cooking steak in, the thing was nonstick and he was using a fork in it, scraping all the cancerous chemicals from Teflon into the dinner!! This "chef" is actively hurting people through his negligence! There are so many amazing catering services in LA, do yourself a favor and book any other service- your guests will thank you. read more

I planned our bar mitzvah kiddush lunch around David's Events food, as I have enjoyed his food for many years. For my son's bar mitzvah, he hit it out of the park! Everything was delicious, and all my guests were raving about the food. My Asian family loved not only the poke bowl, but also the Mediterranean food. Even the seasoned congregants were commenting on how it was the best bar mitzvah food they have had. Being the first bar mitzvah kiddush lunch allowed at our synagogue during the pandemic, David was very limited in how he could serve the food and how hot the food could get in the kosher kitchen's warming oven. He steered me away from foods that would not work with this setup. We had an outdoor meal in the parking lot. No buffet lines-everything had to be served by wait staff. With just 2 main serving areas for the entree, David offered a wide variety of side dishes and dips to accompany the protein, more than enough to satisfy everyone. He is able to take a standard meal and use his creativity and talent to add his own twist and make it unique. And his chocolate cookies are outstanding, so much chocolate in every bite. They provided a scrumptious meal for our Passover seder. Tender brisket with potato kugel, Matzo Ball Soup, Salad, Cooked Carrots, chocolate covered Matzo for dessert. We normally go out to brunch, but given the pandemic, chose to do it in my backyard where we could safely distance ourselves (and wearing masks of course!) but enjoy each other's company. The variety of food was delightful, and even us carnivores really enjoyed the vegetarian options he came up with for our sole vegetarian friend. Everyone thoroughly loved the food! We wanted only appetizer-type food and it was all absolutely delicious! ALL of it was great, but special shout-out for the following dishes: Shaved broccoli slaw with edamame, cucumber, buckwheat noodles, ginger-sesame vinaigrette; crispy sweet & sour shrimp with jicama & radish; and chicken mole with manchego cheese. David delivered on time, and was so patient with me, explaining how all the food components should be put together and/or warmed up. Last night I had the pleasure of experiencing a delivered gourmet dinner to my home from David Slatkin/David's Events for the first time. I was absolutely amazed by the very careful packaging and loved the detailed instructions on how to warm and prepare and present each dish. We ordered several different items and every dish was excellent. The food is truly unique and delicious and prepared to perfection. The delivery service was also excellent no contact delivery. David is a Culinary School graduate that thinks he's a Gourmet Chef. His make shift kitchen is nasty , unsanitary and appears to be a warehouse with a stove in it. His dishes are mediocre at best. David claims to have these high standards but he certainly cannot rise to the occasion himself. The shopping center where he is located is so run down the name of his business isn't even on the sign outside of the center where its located. The place is outdated and the food not fit for human consumption. There are far to many exceptional Catering companies in Los Angeles. This is one of the worst I've ever seen . Commending you on the wonderful outstanding  evening  we had for my dads 95th birthday party. The food was outstanding so incredibly delicious; compliment after compliment, it never stopped. My only regret was being the host and not being able to enjoy every bite of every appetizer and all the entrees and sides as I was so busy running around greeting everybody. The  presentation was so incredibly beautiful, the staff could not have been nicer, could not have been more professional, the service could not have been better. For our party we had many elderly and  the amount of attention to detail (carrying their plates, directing them, helping them, etc was noticed and I commend you all) The bartender was fantastic as well. So personable and  helpful. Even when we had a medical emergency for a guest he was there to help out right away.  Felipe who showed up early took away every qualm I had and brought me the calm I was looking for - he was fantastic. The rentals were all in order and on time the day expected.   My dealings with Tracey were easy and all was accomplished through email. She answered every question I had.  I finally got the chance to meet her  before the party as she  was there for the set up and she  was so helpful with direction and again another calmness coupled with professionalism.  I organized the party via email except for our first phone call which was only 2  weeks prior to the event;  I knew from past events at friends  parties and charity (Interface) the food would be delicious and the evening would be a success and it was perfect all around.  Overall, the evening completely exceeded both my husband and my expectations and we thank you.
