To be clear, David's Bridal was the first bridal store I went to when I began my search for my gown. To be honest, I was uncomfortable to put myself into a gown for a day that has a purpose to put me in the center of attention. However, I had done my research before going in, with my thoughts that I did not want the traditional white/ivory color, a little thought on the cut, but I also had an open mind to see what silhouette would look great and maybe, just maybe I would find the one. My appointment was on a Friday evening at 7:30 pm and NO ONE else was in the store. I asked my stylist, Anaise, if this was normal, and she said "Yes, this is the BEST time to come!" - I pictured the excitement to come on a Saturday when the shop might be bustling with excitement, but through the appointment I LOVED the fact that it was just my stylist, my friend and myself. I did not have to feel strange eyes on me, and I could just be me and honest. Anaise gave my friend and I an opportunity to go through the store and pick some dresses that we enjoyed and wanted to try. The only dress I really wanted to try was a gray one, but we still were open to that traditional white/ivory. After I tried on several, I put on the gray and I knew that was the right color. Then I tried on a gold that was a a great fit but the color was just wrong. The experience was great to get me warmed up, Anaise did a great job, was professional, and really understood what I was after, but David's Bridal was limited to what I really wanted. Unfortunately, the styles found online were not available in the store anymore as well. I would say the store gets 2-3 stars, but staff gets 5 because they are fantastic. I give 3, though, because I would say the options remain limited for myself. However, the prices are great, affordable, and you will be able to have a fantastic experience, find a dress with a great fit, and be beautiful on your day. Sad and unfortunate how my situation was handled. Now out $429? Charged a Rush Fee (1 week) $60...taking 2 weeks to get back? 24 day advance notice? Just needed back taken in by zipper. $200 for altering that on my $229 dress? Asked to cancel alteration and return dress that was left at store 12 hours before request I purchased it. Danielle the alteration manager told me that my dress just there for 5 business hours has been cut on the sides and lice taken off so I can't return it??? Not sure why everyone gave them 2 stars, but I had a pleasant experience here! I was running 30 mins late for my appointment and they still greeted me with a smile and was super friendly. Upon arrival, I received a bag of goodies and was notified about promotions and offers they currently had. I had an appointment schedule with Gia and she was so sweet and helpful. Prior to coming here, I printed out a few dresses that I wanted to try on. They had all of them in store! Yay! Gia was super informative and even gave me some insight on the designers. I fell in love with a Vera Wang dress and learned that even though the collection is named "White", she doesn't have a single white dress in the line! I loved how Gia also went through every little single detail from bridesmaid dresses and color swatches, down to jewelry and shoes! It does take more than a few weeks to get your dress altered to the way that fits you best. Some dresses are even made to order! Perhaps that's why the other reviewers reflected that as poor service. Even if you order the dress online, it's not going to arrive and fit you perfectly. You're gonna have to get it altered people! Remember to ask for Gia if you're ever shopping here. I had a wonderful experience. I made an appointment online, I selected the wrong thing online and called the shop immediately and they answered the phone quickly and changed the appointment for what I needed. I arrived for my appointment. There was someone sweeping the floor, I waited for a few minutes at the front for someone to greet me, but no biggie there were other employees helping other customers. The manager came over and helped let me know where the dresses I were needing were and told me someone would be over to help me. That's where Daisy came over to help me. She was so kind, started a fitting room for me, took the dresses over. Was so gracious and grabbed more styles of dresses with the specific color I needed that could be ordered. She checked to see how long it would take to order, and if it was available. She also checked with her manager if she wasn't quite sure about something which I appreciate-- no one knows everything! She offered to have me sign up to be a diamond club member-- it's not a credit card, but a rewards plan. There was a 20% off sale and then coupons from the diamond club. As much as I love that my girl was honestly about how crappy she thinks I would look in white and how she had to "humor the bride" by letting me try on a solid white dress because ivory wasn't that bad I just wish she was a bit more supportive and on my side. Yes ivory is beautiful but I had my heart set on something specific. Turned out I looked great in white and even ordered my dress is solid white. Don't let anyone shame you from getting the dress color you want! Don't get me wrong my consultant was with me the whole time and she was great. She didn't stray and go help walk ins or get pulled aside for some random task while I tried dresses on which was really nice. I really don't like writing reviews, let alone a really bad one...we had an appointment today for 12:00 noon for a wedding dress fitting/measurement, we were greeted at the front door and they looked confused, we were there for a wedding dress fitting not for prom dresses, just because we had our 2 daughters with us, they assumed we were in there for prom dresses because all the fav info i put into the reservations all of a sudden was wiped out. The girl at the front pointed out dresses and told us to have a look and the designer would be right out...we were walking around the store looking at wedding dresses waiting for our stylist and a short round lady approached us in a very rude manner telling us not to touch the dresses in a certain area for whatever reason which at that moment I was already upset that they lost all the information for the dress. This is a special day for the women, and I am sad to say, we were treated very poorly by I assumed was the manager, she was very rude! we decided not to stay for the rude treatment and unprofessional service and decided to spend our money at Anderson's Bride. read more

I had an appointment to try on wedding gowns at the Davids Bridal in Anchorage. The sales associate had three other brides she was "trying" to tend to as well as me. I had to shop and gather as well as put on all the dresses by my self with no assistance from the associate. That in itself is ridiculous! With no help from the associate I did find the dress of my dreams....And my dreams were then CRUSHED as they GAVE MY GOWN TO SOMEONE ELSE!!!( at least that is their story) Really??? Yes really after I paid for and ordered my dress veil and headpiece. I now have no wedding dress and am waiting to see of they can even get a new one..I will never suggest this store to ANYONE! They are doing nothing to help a stressed out bride but give her dress away!! If I could leave ZERO STARS I WOULD Terrible service all around!!!! Sorry I tried and I even came back but I just couldn't spend my money there! First time came in with an appointment and the sales lady was ok but VERY pushy! My best freind is getting married in November of this year and we have had some of the worst customer service I have EVER seen. We went to to find her wedding dress first (of course!) and received some very uncanny service from a young woamn that looked as though she had just come off of a binge drinking college weekend. Although the girl was nice enough it was still unsettling. After a few hours of trying on different styles she found the dress of her dreams!! Upon purchasing she was told that because she was buyong it that day there would be more discounts for her and in turn, the wedding party. This is a large party by the way 8 bridesmaids and 8 groomsmen. It was a little bit more of a grueling process finding the right dress to fit 8 very different women, in which we recieved little to no help at all. Three of us are fairly tall, myself included being nearly 6ft, and they only offered 3 styles of dresses that came in "extra length" which were HIDEOUS! So we found another option, still on our own. Among some of the promotions my friend had recieved a discount for the bridesmaids of $20 off each individual dress. I was one of the first to purchase and I was not awarded a discount and I was treated with such disrespect I am surprised I stayed as composed as I did. I was told that if I was that worried about the $20 discount I should try looking somewhere like Value Village. EXCUSE ME?! RUDE!!! I still purchased my dress and was given an arrival date of Nov 11, 6 days before the wedding and I purchased the dress in the begining of September. Here is the kicker. One of the other bridesmaids took one for the team. She was treated with the same disrespect I was, but she got what she wanted. She called the Seattle store. The other 6 girls are all getting the dress with the discount and were quoted a delivery date of the mid to end of OCT!!!!!!!!!!! WTF?!?!?!! I am glad they got what they needed but seriously?! Moral of my story the people at Davids Bridal here in Alaska can go jump of of a bridge. They have terrible customer service and the only thing going for them is that they are like the ONLY store up here. My daughter scheduled an appointment weeks ago. When we walked in the salesladies were trying to pawn her off on each other. During the appointment the saleslady was unattentive. My friend and I were the ones that were helping her with the train and fit of the gowns. We do not blame the saleslady, or should we say salesgirl? (She looked like she was 10) We truly think she just isn't trained properly. Wedding gown shopping should be a memory making time, this was a terrible experience. From the lack of preparation, to getting her name wrong on the door, to slapping a random veil on her head without even stopping to help her with it. Literally just ploppled it on her head! Dear David's Bridal, Please make sure you have the right people out on your salesfloor. Please make sure that when they are out there selling your gowns, they look the part. The people are kind but I was still left heartbroken. I stopped by in June with my mom and sister just to look. Then I tried on a dress that I loved almost as much as my fiancé. I almost cried wearing it. I explained disheartened that I was on maternity leave and couldn't actually get the dress, so the woman I was with told me about their layaway option. She said that if I put down 20% I had as long as I needed to pay the rest, but she recommended that I pay by November in case I need tailoring done. Fast forward to a few weeks ago. I get a voicemail reminding me that my due date is approaching on August 27th. I'm on vacation with my family and can't get back to them until yesterday, so all the while I'm thinking it's just a mistake in the computer because I was told that I had at least until November. I was finally able to call back and they didn't acknowledge any of the several times I said I was told I had until November. They did however keep saying "well the dress is on clearance now" like that answers anything. I still can't pay that quickly. I went back to work a week ago whether you give me $100 off or not. I'm sad, I'm hurt, I'm confused, and I'm left without answers. In getting 50% of the down payment back, still no one explained why I was told something so drastically different from their actual layaway policy, and no one apologized for giving me wrong information. I give Allie a 5 star review, but the store as a whole is a 2. They are unaware of how to look up dresses and see what they have in the requested sizes or color. The first person whole helped me didn't bring me requested dresses, went on the floor to find them. I ended up leaving and coming back. This is when allie helped me. She was FAST AND HELPFUL. My experience at this shop was good but still left some things to be desired. I was not the bride but went with my friend who is the bride to get her dress, my bridesmaid dress, a mother of the bride dress and a flower girl dress. The selection is wonderful with a huge variety of cuts and styles, that was one of the things we really liked. Because of this we were able to walk out of the store with dresses for everyone the same day. One of the huge downsides was that it seems like they're understaffed or don't know how to schedule bridal appointments in small enough batches to handle. Our specialist (I think her name was Allie?) was very visibly overwhelmed helping multiple brides. She didn't seem to pick up on when the best times to leave each bride was as I watched our experience and the experience of the bride in the fitting room next to us. She always seemed to leave when the bride needed help with getting in and out of dresses and stayed when the family was talking instead of taking that moment when she wasn't needed to assist the other brides. The payment process was also very long because she was still running back and forth even after we left for lunch and came back. It wasn't a bad experience but the scheduling or understaffing really did make it less enjoyable. read more

When told specifically in a 20 min conversation, I could return a sash I bought because we chose another, they made it extremely difficult to return and fought it every step on the way, then after they finally returned it, I never got the refund on my card , the manager, Heather, was a total bitch to me about it when I called, then my daughter went in and she was a bitch to her also and wouldn't even look at her during the conversation! Also, I had a specific dress in mind and just wanted to check what size I should order and she said "good luck getting it," (the dress I wanted, if I bought it online). However, I just looked online and the dress in my color and size says I would receive it in next week. My fiance and I went in to look for wedding dresses, the gal at the front was polite and told us they were busy and that we could look for dresses in one little area. We found a few we liked and were told someone would be right with us. This continued on for an hour always being told "be right with you" and finally we asked if realistically anyone would be with us and we were told probably not. We asked if we really needed a "stylist" as we wanted to check on size and just get a feel for what we liked. We were told they really want us to have the "full experience" and that we may damage the dress without help. We ended up ordering online and called to make an appointment to get the dresses fitted/altered. The whole time the gal referred to me in third person pronouns because apparently it is really hard to figure out the gender of someone trying on a dress. I'm not sure if we were being treated this way because we are queer or if they just suck. Seemed like the other straight couples there had no problem getting help. read more

I would not recommend this place to anyone. I just went down there this weekend to look for my wedding dress and the woman who was supposed to help me did not help at all. I had to go find the dresses to try on, bring them over to the fitting room and get into them myself. Any questions I asked she was completely uninterested in and would answer with a yes or no. I signed up for a dress appointment at David's shortly after getting engaged and was so excited to have a great experience with my mom, sister, and two friends. When I arrived, the salesgirl was pretty dismissive and told me to look through the dresses and pull out what I liked. I thought she would look at my choices and help me choose ones that were flattering to my body shape but her input never came. When I asked about other dresses similar to a picture in their catalogue, she told me there were none. I expected that she would offer other suggestions but, again, she had no input. The most valuable input she provided me with was that I had "a weird torso" and later, she told my sister that she had the perfect dress for her. She actually spent time convincing my sister to try on the dress! I felt pretty humiliated after the appointment and was so turned off of dress shopping, I didn't look again until about a year and a half later, and certainly not at David's. I got my dress from Davids and Gia helped me, it was so fun! My sisters have also got their dresses from David's. Jasmine was super sweet! The only complaint is how they don't have chairs for people to sit down. We had to sit on the floor and look through the book for dresses. read more

My sister and I have been into this store 3 times recently (finding a wedding dress, getting a fitting, and picking up the fitted dress). When she first found her dress, the staff made it into a special experience, with a tradition of the bride making a wedding wish and ringing a bell. The dress fitting with Frosty was a great experience! Upon pickup, the dress looked amazing and Frosty was very helpful and patient in teaching me how to bustle. Outside of our personal experiences, there are endless dress options for any occasion. Highly recommend! read more

When I bought my dress, I was told I should buy it two sizes up from my actual size. They made it seem like this was standard practice to allow some extra room for tailoring to my exact fit. Do not listen to this scam! I believe that they tell you this so they can make money off the tailoring costs. Now I have a dress I can't return or exchange that is huge on me and needs extensive tailoring which could have been avoided if I wasn't tricked into ordering a dress that was too big for me. I am definitely not going back to David's Bridal to have my dress tailored. read more

My score of 4 stars is actually a combination of a 5 stars for my first visit and a 1.5 for my second. My first visit - 5 stars! (Consultant's name was Sara.) This was on a Tuesday early afternoon. I was really, REALLY nervous about going wedding dress shopping, so much so that I cried that morning and was nauseous all the way to Anchorage. I am a size 24 in street clothes, and was very concerned that there would be little or nothing for me to try on, in spite of an employee's reassurances over the phone when I called to ask. In addition, I am accompanied by a service dog, and my fiance and I are a same-sex couple, and was concerned about being made to feel out of place or unwelcome about one of those things. When I arrived, though, not a single eye was batted at my size, my dog, or my fiance's obviously female name. From the young woman who checked me in at the desk, to my consultant (Sara), to the other employees who came by during my appointment, I was made to feel welcome and celebrated. That was so, so wonderful. Sara did a great job of making me feel at ease, listening to what I was looking for and what I wanted out of the experience. She did not make me feel at all pressured, which I was grateful for as I originally only intended this to be a just-seeing-what-things-look-like-on-me day, not a buying-my-dress day. To my happy surprise, there was never any question about there being enough dresses in a size range I could try on, AND every single dress I tried on (I think I tried on five in total) zipped up no problem. I ended up finding and purchasing my dress and veil. (Happily, every single dress the consultant brought me was within our not-super-big budget.) The whole experience was really positive, and made me feel so beautiful and welcome. My second visit - 1.5 stars. Saturday midday. I went in to pick up my dress, and try it with a ballgown petticoat as the first consultant had suggested. The store was a little busier than my first visit, but not terribly so. I was assigned to a consultant who was already helping another bride. The consultant was nice, but really inattentive to me. She carried my dress to the dressing room, and retrieved a petticoat for me, then disappeared. We waited a while, then gave up on waiting and my sister helped me into my dress and petticoat, then out of my petticoat when I wanted to see the difference, and then helped me put the veil on when I wanted to see things together. During this time we did see the consultant again as she was helping the bride next to me, but she pretty much ignored me completely. Not in a way that was intentionally antagonistic, just really inattentive to me. I don't know whether this was because I'd already purchased my dress and was only trying it on, or because she was really only able to handle one bride at a time, or what. She did halfheartedly offer to help me get out of my dress, but at that point it was clear that it was simpler to have my sister help me. I think she also helped lay my veil out properly once when my mom snagged her in passing. I actually got more interaction from other shoppers than the consultant. Because of the way the second visit went, I feel less confident about going back to the store for alterations, and may instead look into having them done by a seamstress I've talked to previously in the Valley. My advice to other brides - if at all possible, go on a day and at a time when most people will be at work and in school. I think that had a hand in making my first visit a positive one. Our sales woman stayed a half hour past closing to help me find my dress. I've had to come back 2 other times to make sure it was THE one and I'm glad one time she even told me to sleep on it. I gave it 4 though because I requested the same person 6 weeks in advance for another bridesmaid dress fitting and she wasn't there. So the new woman that helped us seemed like she wasn't interested when I pointed out that if we went online we could save money vs in store. ZERO **** is what I'd rather leave!!! My daughter had an appointment scheduled in May we arrived (my having just traveled from Las Vegas, NV) for this big event . Our sales person (looked like she belonged in a good will store) unprofessional, thought it best to attend to other customers during my daughters appointment.. As her mother, I went into the dressing room to help my daughter with the dress. the salesperson appeared stating that helping my daughter was her job not mine, I should sit down.. Bad choice of words!! Who says that to the mother of the BRIDE?? Not a good start!!! My daughter did find the dress... However it became a huge ordeal at rying to purchase.... My daughter was told the dress would ship to the Anchorage store within 2 weeks of being paid off!!! This dress was to be to my daughter by the 22nd of June, now they are say possible not till July 15th my daughters wedding is the 25th. They told her they have to email CORP and wait that there is nothing they can do until they hear from them? REALLY that's not what the Henderson,NV store told me... Many lies I went to the David's bridal here in Vegas (Henderson) to see if there was anything they could do to rectify the situation. THEY WERE AWESOME !!!! I now have the dress and will be shipping it to my daughter TOMORROW . Bottom line is Davids Bridal in Anchorage, AK their entire staff and manager Heather were not willing to go the extra mile. They need some serious customer service training. Or better yet possibly a different line of work... Such a dis service to David's Bridal!!! After reading the negative reviews on David's Bridal, I decided to still give this a go and see for myself because I do know a few brides that have found "the dress" at a David's Bridal location. I made a same day appointment over the phone, and the young man that helped me over the phone and checked me in once I got there today is awesome. That's the only positive thing that I can say about this review. I had two specific dresses from their website that I had in mind to try on; however, they had neither one in store for me to see. I was informed that I could "purchase" one of those two, and would be credited towards another dress if I didn't like the purchased dress once it came in. Why should I have to buy a dress that you advertise, just to bring it in store? Shouldn't they have it in stock? The girl that helped me was nice enough, but after telling her what I was looking for she seemed to want to pawn me off on someone else, but she got stuck with me in the end. I will be the first to admit that I'm probably the pickiest bride because I wanted something slim fitted and modest. Why is it that literally every dress shows so much skin? But she made me feel very uncomfortable and I wish she would have just been honest and straightforward with me me that their company wasn't a good fit for what I had in mind. She literally brought me 3 poofy dresses that looked exactly the same. All in all, if you're looking for a cheap, poofy, generic, ballroom, strapless style, this would be a place for you. I do not recommend shopping or getting alterations done here. I bought a formal gown and was basically ignored while I shopped and treated like I was an inconvenience to them when I needed the dress altered. I really regret not taking the dress elsewhere as I don't believe the seamstress knew how to alter a dress professionally. The hem is crooked and too short, and curls up in spots since they don't know how to sew the fabric. The manager came out and measured it, claimed it was straight and that the curls were normal. Only when I made a fuss did they offer to iron the hem to see if that would help, which it did a bit. But the rest of the dress was still completely wrinkled and they just gave it to me like that to take home and rushed me out. It was so unprofessional. I paid quite a bit of money for the dress and alterations to have them give me a wrinkled messed up dress. I would never shop there again. read more

Would recommend some of the product but not the service. We picked out a dress that was the last one in my size and loved it but was in rough shape (the dress everyone has tried on). We are going to an evening function 2 months out and the girl told us we had no time to order, it would take 15 weeks because it's a 'Vera Wang' and my only option was to buy the last one and have their seamstresses fix it. THIS REVIEW IS SPECIFIED TO THE MANAGER (HEATHER). She was EXTREMELY rude to me when trying to figure out why they wouldn't return my money for a sash i bought. We live in fairbanks and had a friend return it for us, and for some reason they put the money on their card and then told us it would be on my card, and of course when it didn't show, we were upset. The manager did her best to embarrass us and lied saying that it would be on the card it was purchased from. She was very rude and IGNORED me when i was talking to her. I highly recommend NEVER visiting this store. The manager was so awful and rude I hope she gets fired because her service was beyond ridiculous. My experience was two fold... I found my wedding dress. But the poor consultant was juggling me, my two bridesmaids and three other brides at the same time. I did have an appointment for 10:30 for me and my bridesmaids but they didn't have the staff to handle all of us and the other brides who probably had appointments too. I think the store was very understaffed and there could be many reasons for this but the experience was not great. read more

It was our first outing, looking for a wedding dress for my daughter. We didn't expect to buy one that day. We didn't know we needed an appointment, so we had to return at a later time. I'm very glad we did! Our stylist was Emily. She was very pleasant and helpful. She really listened to what my daughter was looking for in a wedding dress.
