I recently had my 6 month regular check up with FC Family Dentistry and was VERY pleased with their level of customer service, care, and friendliness! Dr. Gul was excellent, providing thorough explanations of their approach to cleaning and care and asked me at least twice if I was experiencing any pain during my cleaning (I felt nothing!). Before and after the cleaning she explained why she was recommending X-rays and the three issues she'd identified, stating that she would confirm the level of urgency via the X-rays. The equipment used was modern and Dr. Gul provided a thorough assessment of my teeth and gums based on the X-rays. In the end, she explained that she would continue to monitor the situations vs. take immediate action and counseled me on how to avoid making things worse. This was so refreshing, as many dentists are often looking for ways to charge you for things you may or may not need. Dr. Gul's beside manner and that of her technician's was kind, warm, caring, and gentle. I am so pleased to have found a dental practice that focuses on the needs of their patients and treats them with such warm care vs. rushing them in and out! We had never heard of a prosthodontist until Dr. Lourdes Christopher, my husband's periodontist, recommended Dr. Huang after my husband lost a couple of teeth and had to have more pulled. Thank goodness she referred us to him! Dr. Huang is very calm and reassuring. My husband has dementia, but felt instantly comfortable with Dr. Huang. I stayed in the room during each appointment and saw what a perfectionist Dr. Huang is about making the upper partial fit comfortably and yet be easy to insert and remove. She just pulled it today and did a bone graft with great care and patience, taking 3 hours for the process to make sure everything went well and was painless for me. I will be back in a few months for an implant and then a new tooth. My wife and I have seen Dr Hemati. She explained everything, was very caring, and did a great job. The office staff are all nice and professional as well. Would definitely go back.

She asked whether a root canal was needed and was told it wasn't, despite the pain she was experiencing. When she questioned that recommendation, the interaction became uncomfortable, and she was pressured to move forward with treatment the same day. She was required to sign a waiver and proceed while in significant pain. The crown did not resolve the issue. She later sought a second opinion and was told a root canal was absolutely necessary. She ended up needing specialist care, 3D imaging, and a root canal--all out of pocket. What was most troubling was the disconnect between how urgent the situation was presented and how it was later billed. Patients should be very cautious and ask detailed questions about authorization and alternatives, especially when in pain.

Initially I thought nothing of it and planned to say no to any window dressing offered. The "treatment plan" that I received was filled with costs for random fillings even though I was here for an emergency root canal. I stressed that the root canal was all I was going to commit to, and I had to defend this decision across multiple appointments. The front desk even called the dentist back in to try pressure me into getting more work done. Conveniently, they suddenly deemed a few of the fillings "non-priority" even though they were ready to bill me for them. I still said no and my wishes were only respected after I fought for it. As far as the care I received, my experience with dentist was sarcastic and uncommunicative. I didn't know what was happening or what to expect during the procedure. I had to specifically request my medicated toothpaste that I was prescribed because they didn't hand it to me after my second or third appointment. Incidentally this happened after I denied the extra work in my treatment plan. When I went to another dentist and got a second opinion, he was confused at the need for extra fillings and mentioned that my teeth were in great condition. Overall I did not feel considered, respected, or cared for in this process, and I do not recommend for anyone else to go to this practice.
