When I moved back to the United States after living abroad for 10 years, I needed to get car insurance. But because I had no driving history, everywhere I called quoted me absurdly high rates, $2000, $3000 a year, even though I was 40 at the time.
These guys were different--I spoke to Janet Tidwell who sympathetically listened to my story and made a call to the head office to explain the situation. The upshot was that I was able to get insurance for well under $1000 a year, in line with the normal rate for my age.
Alfa is short for Alabama Farmers but don't let that put you off because this is Georgia. They're a large and extremely reputable company. Should you ever need to make a claim (I did have to once as a teenager), you'll get as good or better service here than anywhere.
You know so many companies say they are a family or they will treat you like family--but this place literally does. I am probably their worst customer--I usually forget to pay my renewal, but they will always make a friendly call to remind me and for a chat.
