This is a magical store and must be visited to be believed. When you step inside you'll find an Aladdin's cave of hardware and DIY and the goods are exhibited in a unique way using just plain old fashioned wood as a backdrop. No chrome, no glass, no strip lighting, just carved, chunky, beautiful grained wood. And it works. You'll find everything you need in here from quality hard bristle yard brushes, to bright red, yellow and brown coloured toilet paper, to cooking odour elimintaing candles in tins. And if you're looking for an unusual gift then, this is your stop. There's some wicked gadjets and wotnots on sale. I guarantee, you'll go in for one thing and leave with another half dozen items. It's been around since the 1840's and I bet very little has changed since then. Except,...... the staff,,,, I was served today by two absolutre gentlemen, Cliff and Milan. They were charming, helpful and knowledgeable and I left a little wiser about the difference between philips and pozzidrive screwdrivers. Cliff and Milan are two gems in a great little find of a shop. If you're planning to go to Oxford Street, forget the tube and take a detour down Marylebone Lane on the left side heading south.
