It is often difficult to keep an independent hardware store going with these large out of town DIY shops gobbling up the business. Thankfully they haven't all disappeared, instead they survive like the Tool Shop in the middle cities where the bigger stores have no presence.
And you know what? It's great! Firstly the store is like a Mecca for DIY, there's pretty much everything in here and because it's all a little bit hard to find, the staff make up for it by being super helpful. Because sadly I have none of my fathers skills at DIY and I need to be talked through the simplest of tasks in great detail. Such as when I was looking for nails for a nail gun I bought - I thought they were the same ones as you hit with a hammer...
It's a good job that this place still exists or else I'd never be able to do anything like that. read more
