I went on a day trip to Bury Market today with my mother yesterday 19/03/25. We were picked up at 10 am at Warrington Central Station, taken to Ashton to meet the coach and then off we went to Bury. All good, a lovely day....... until home time. Back on the coach at 16.15, great, until what should have probably taken an hour became a 3 hour journey going round in circles. From Bury, we bypassed Warrington, dropped off passengers in Ashton, then onto Newton le Willows, Haycock, Newton le Willows again, St. Helens, Finger Post, Sutton, Peasley Cross, St Helens bus station, then Whiston, Thatto Heath, then onto Prescott!! In fact I'm pretty sure we saw St Helens 4 times! I've been on many day trips and I know that sometimes they have to 'go round the houses' and that's the way it is, but this was ridiculous, made more so by the fact then when we eventually got back to Warrington, the driver, Joe, had to drive back to the base in St Helens!!! How this can be financially viable for the company is beyond me. This is the 2nd time this has happened to us on a Bury Market day trip, with the same driver. Don't think we'll be booking another. We could have travelled to Majorca in less time. read more

'If you do not have anything good to stay, do not say anything at all.' This is something I try very hard to adhere to, especially knowing that once something is posted on the web, it stays there forever. However, in this case ............. I would have given no stars for this review if possible as that is my current opinion of David Ogden Holidays, St Helens. Despite my family having happily used this coach company for over twenty years, you would think you would receive a response to a complaint made in writing to them twice; the first complaint was emailed whilst on the actual holiday at the beginning of September, which was then followed up via letter sent by Royal Mail Guaranteed Delivery on return to the UK. I have today, following the advice on the David Ogden Holidays website, contacted the Alternative Dispute Resolution scheme at the Confederation of Passenger Transport, Fifth Floor South, Chancery House, 53-64 Chancery Lane, London. WC2A 1QS to assist with the complaint. Time will tell if this is even a valid option for pursuing a complaint with David Ogden Holidays. If not, the next action will be to register a dispute with ABTA Complaints who you may register a dispute with if their member is in breach of their Code Of Conduct, which currently David Ogden Holidays are as they have failed to respond to a complaint within 28 days. The ABTA Code of Conduct for customers includes (taken from https://www.abta.com/about-us/code-of-conduct) : "What the Code of Conduct means for you When you plan to book a holiday, look for the logo, because booking with an ABTA Member is the only way to get the protection of the ABTA Code. It covers your holiday from start to finish. From the information before you book, through the booking process, to helping you if you have a complaint. The Code means that, among many other things, you can expect to receive: Accurate information so you can make an informed choice Advice or assistance on everything you need including passports, visas, and country requirements An offer of a suitable alternative if there is an issue that will seriously impair your holiday plans, like building works A refund of your holiday cost if there's a significant flight delay and you don't want to travel A response to any complaint you might have within 28 days Resolution of your dispute as quickly as possible and, if it can't be resolved amicably, the guaranteed option of arbitration to find a settlement. The protection of the ABTA Code, and of our ADR schemes, apply if you booked in the UK." The Coach Tourism Association advertise that 'Members are able to use the CTA logo on letterheads, in brochures and on websites, which is a huge endorsement of any business and a key to building trust with customers' to see if they can assist with the complaint as completely ignoring a customer who has used David Ogden Holidays for so long does not uphold the value of 'building trust with customers'. SO, THE MORAL OF MY REVIEW IS, 'LEARN FROM OTHER CUSTOMERS' APPALLING EXPERIENCES AND CONSIDER ANOTHER COACH COMPANY' such as Leger, Shearings, Memory Lane Travel etc. You pay a lot of money for a holiday and deserve to have the experience expected from the holiday brochure. David Ogden Holidays' Trading Charter advises: "9- OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO YOU We accept responsibility for ensuring the holiday which you book with us is supplied as described in our publicity material and the services offered reach a reasonable standard and if you are in difficulty we will assist you." Such a pity, that in my case, no-one from David Ogden Holidays could 'assist' me whilst on holiday or upon my return. read more

We were due to go on a Scottish Highland railways holiday on 17th May 2020. Due to the Coronavirus situation; the fact that we are classed as vulnerable adults; have underlying health problems and are therefore being advised to self isolate, we rang to cancel the holiday. Despite it being well in advance, special circumstances and the rapidly escalating health situation we were refused a refund. The office staff were totally unco-operative. The most we could gain from them was an offer to hold all of our money over against a further trip. As pensioners we cannot afford to stand out of the money for a prolonged period. We had a previous holiday cancelled by them - although disappointed we were very amenable. It's a great pity that they can't offer the same consideration. The first and last holiday we will ever take with David Ogden Holidays. The holiday was a five day, four nights, trip to Lytham St Anne's staying in the Lindum Hotel on the South Promenade. It started from when we got on the coach, it was an old coach, still had the old lap seat belts, allocated two seats which didn't exist, seat 47 and 48, the driver told us no they don't exsist they are where the toilet is situated and the booking office continue to insist on booking these seats, okay we eventually got two seats that were vacant. The toilet at the the back of the coach was disgusting and had not been cleaned in weeks. The driver needed a course on customer service, he never introduced himself, informed us of the safety procedures in the event of an accident, nothing at all, which I thought was compulsory when driving a public vehicle. We arrived at the hotel and was given the key to our room, which was a sea view room. When I opened the door I was in for the biggest shock of my life. The room was disgusting, wall paper hanging off the walls, tea stains down the walls, skirting boards that hadn't been cleaned in years, the carpet was so disgusting, it had been worn threadbare and was no longer the colour it started life as. The phone at the side of the bed was a health hazard it was filthy. The room was so small how anyone can call that a double room is beyond me even without the filth, only big enough for a single room. I opened one of the drawers that was all chipped and broken and full of dust and dirt inside the drawers. Then went into the bathroom and that was also disgusting, black mould around the bath, all the top of the bath was scratched with big black marks where the so called shower screen had been pulled back and forth. Immediately registered my disgust with the receptionist who in formed me they had only one other sea view room which was exactly like this one, I refused to take it. We were eventually offered another room on the other side of the hotel without a sea view and also was informed although the room was on the 2nd floor there was no lift. This was was better but still not upto the standard I would have expected, the bathroom was so small you could sit on the loo and was your face at the same time. The shower over the bath was the very old type that are attached to the bath taps and take for ever to get the temperature right to get into the shower. The bed was anything but comfortable and the pillows were so flat they were a complete waste of time. Everyone I spoke to in the hotel had something to complain about, especially the food.. The food in the dining room was what I can only describe as canteen food, not what we were expecting for the price of £598 for two people, in fact we ate out at restaurants two nights out of the four because we could not face that food. Included in the trip were two coach days out, on the first one to Settle and Kirkby Longsdale, which was a lovely day out, that is until the return trip, when the coach broke down and we had to wait over an hour for a replacement coach. Okay you may say that can happen on any coach, a breakdown, but that coach should not have been in service in the first place, nobody was surprised it had broke down as it was coughing and spluttering all the way there. The feeder vehicle that picked us up on our return journey at the Tickled Trout in Preston was dirty on the inside, the driver was polite but his clothing was dirty and full of what looked like oil stains and paint. I was wearing white trouser!! All in all a very expensive learning curve, never to be repeated again, I would not recommend either David Ogdens Travel or the Lindum Hotel to anyone, and they don't deserve even one star but I couldn't write this review without giving them one star. I have taken photos of the disgusting room but can't upload on here but if anyone from David Ogdens wants to see them I will be only too happy to share them with you, because if you are continuing to send people to this hotel your reputation is certainly at stake!!! I have contacted David Ogdens on numerous occasions by phone only to be fobbed off regarding this holiday, which was from the 15th July to 20th July. Also wrote a two page letter to the owners regarding our disgust, which I was told to put my complaint in writing, and they would reply and I have yet to receive any reply. It's just a disgusting way to treat people. read more

went on coach holiday last week to Scarbough worst driver ever hardly ever spoke never told you about trips unless you asked him no list on notice board in hotel to tell you the times of trips or no information about what time to put cases out or time we were leaving on the Friday had to ask at reception was 7 am to put cases out cases weren't loaded on coach till we were leaving at 12 o'clock he said he would stop for lunch break never stopped till we got to birches after 3 pm in Manchester wasn't there long enough to get something to eat some passenger get off there we carried on to Lymm he got our cases out left at side of coach as are pick up wasn't there it started raining didn't even say to me and my sister and a man to get back on coach out of rain every one was complaining about they said they weren't tipping him his name was Damon The Delmont Hotel was up to standard we asked for a seaview room even ring the hotel 3 weeks before to confirm the lady said she would sort it when we got there gave us a side view of the sea up in the attic when we complained they said they didn't any any other rooms all booked we had to stand up to look out of window to see the sea also loads of bird poo out side wasn't very nice to look at had to stand on chair to open window the room was ok we asked for a twin but there was a double and a single bed in room the room didn't get cleaned the 5 days we were there all they done was empty bins and straighten duvet,the furniture was very dusty left them a message asking them to dust the message was still yhere when we left The bathroom was very small couldn't even get dry in there had to come out of shower into room to get dry There wasn't a book with information about hotel telling you were everything was also the fire info was that high on door couldn't read it no telephone in room to get in touch with reception had to go down 3 floors if we had a complaint or needed any thing Hotel badly needs updating never do that trip again read more

having travelled on coach trips with other companys we found ogdens less professional tthey dont seem to care about having people hanging around for long stages and their feeder coach system is a joke sitting on the coach for over two hours on a forty minute journey to the depot in lymm this was both ways .we have just returned from a holiday with robinsons the same journey feeder coach took thirty five minutes plus the changeover was far superior.so no more ogdens. read more
