When I returned to ask for a correction, David was apathetic about the issue. He never apologized for the mistake, and although he agreed to fix it, he did absolutely nothing to resolve the problem. Unresponsive and Unprofessional Service Led to Missed Deadline. I had previously worked with Angelica Chavez at David Oase CPA and had a great experience, which is why it's so disappointing to report such a change in her level of service. I want to preface this by saying I was hesitant to leave a negative review, since I can't speak for the other associates at David Oase CPA, but I felt it was important to warn people about my experience working with Angelica specifically. Angelica had helped me to file an extension for my taxes. As the due date approached, I reached out to her through multiple emails, asking to set up an appointment to file my taxes. No response. I even tried calling the office and leaving voice messages. Still, nothing. Feeling the pressure of the approaching deadline, I decided to proceed with TurboTax to handle my filing. Interestingly, TurboTax offered an option to send my tax information directly to my CPA. Thinking this might finally get Angelica's attention, I chose that route. It worked--but not in the way I had hoped. Angelica did respond, immediately, but only to inform me that sending tax info via TurboTax was "improper." There was no acknowledgement of my previous attempts to contact her, and she didn't address my request to schedule an appointment. I replied, once again asking to set up a meeting. You guessed it--no response. In the end, I missed my deadline, which will no doubt result in additional fees. It's frustrating to deal with this level of unresponsiveness and lack of professionalism, especially when it comes to something as critical as taxes. I'm disappointed and will be looking for another CPA firm that values client communication and respects deadlines. read more

I needed a local CPA to help file my personal taxes. I performed some investments including crypto transactions and they agreed to help file my AZ and federal taxes. I had a good feeling. This is my first year I decided to try a CPA to navigate me through tax nightmare. I was stung along for weeks. Then about 4 weeks before the tax deadline. I get a call saying that they won't file taxes because of my crypto. My suggestion if you have crypto investments, go elsewhere. Don't waste your time. Crypto has existed for more than 10 years. I brought my taxes to David & Chad and it was a mistake. They made a mistake and never apologized for their mistakes. I found them to be unreliable, evasive on answering questions and again unable to admit they failed. David - in my opinion - has NO people skills. He has other people preparing that he supposed to check, but apparently he doesn't bother. He evaded my questions on how the mistakes came about. Again, not a people person. I worked with Chad to prepare my taxes for 2020. He tried to refer me to a friend of his who is a financial advisor, but could not tell me if this friend was a fiduciary financial advisor so I'm not sure how he's able to vouch for the quality of the services he pushes on his clients. He then, without my permission or knowledge, gave my phone number to his friend who spammed my phone repeatedly for months trying to sell his financial advising services. I found this inappropriate and decided to go elsewhere for this tax year. However, Chad, without asking or communicating with me, decided to file an extension on my behalf even though I have given him no indication that I planned to continue his services or remain his client. This lack of communication (I had no idea he filed on my behalf) created a huge hassle for me with trying to figure out why my extension was being rejected, finding out my tax payment was also rejected with the extension and figuring out if I now owe a late penalty. read more

Tried to do my taxes myself this year after the person I was getting it done from stopped doing taxes. When I was doing it I somehow managed to owe $3500 plus to the IRS. Took it to these guys and spoke with Wally and he took me from owing money to getting a refund in excess of $5k. Wally was straight to the point and I dug his sense of humor.
