David Michaels salon is a wonderful, family run, small business that does high quality style for a great price! We found this gem a few years back when our current salon moved. The charming little house is clean and sanitized daily. The staff is friendly and will take their time with you. I've never had a bad haircut nor style! My daughter has her hair done here as well, they even did her prom hair. They listen to what you ask for and make knowledgeable recommendations. read more

I've been going to DM Salon for a few years & cannot put into words how great they are! Danielle is magical; she saved my hair & her work (believe me when I say my hair is hard work!) always gets compliments! David makes me laugh (it's a vice versa thing), & I have seen him make "lemonade" out of lemons, fix what seems unfixable & he does great guys cuts & styles too. From what I've seen, all of the stylists are fantastic & make their clients feel special, even if it's someone new popping in without an appointment. Michael is great to talk to as well. I've lived in South Jersey for almost 2 years- I moved from North Jersey close to NYC. I was faithful to my stylist for the past 6 years but driving 2 hours to get my hair done isn't ideal when you're almost 9 months pregnant. I decided to look up places in the area and liked what I read in regards to David Michael's. the atmosphere was welcoming and great. The woman who cut my hair was so sweet and was able to fix the issue that I had. The reason for 3 stars is because I felt as though she had no idea how to do my hair. I have thick curly hair and had repeatedly told her that I need to blow dry my hair pin straight and then pass it over with a flat iron which would lock it in. I usually do it by myself in my home and my hair lasts for up to 2 weeks. Slight frizz depending on the humidity. She just brushed my hair while passing the blower on it and didn't seem like she knew how to actually blow dry it straight? I'm not sure... and then she passed the iron over it and it did help a bit but at that point I knew it was too late. I left and drove up the street to the nail salon and looked like I had just gotten out of bed. It completely poofed up and I had to end up tying it up. Also, I've never heard of a salon that charges an extra $10 for flat iron services. It wasn't terrible but for $40 I usually get a completely new style in my hair that lasts me weeks whereas this time it lasted me until I walked out of the door. I will have to continue searching for places that have better knowledge and experience in working with different types of hair I guess! read more

I was surprised and pleased to receive an e-mail from the owners voicing their concern about my experience. Clearly they wished to right my prior experience and I was impressed by their comments. While we all tend to judge an establishment by a single experience the owners have proven it can be hasty. I applaud them for the attention and concern they showed me! read more

I have been a loyal customer of David's since 2000. My family has followed him from salon to salon until he finally opened one of his own. David Michael's stylists are people I can trust. Great service and awesome latte/cappuccino/coffee station. This is the kind of salon where everyone knows your name. When you walk in it's like walking onto the set of a talk show. Everyone's styling stations are in the same area so it's easy to have a conversation across the room. When I was in last week we discussed the Duggars, religion, reality TV and even each other's personal lives. Nowadays, I get my haircut about once a year. And I'm the kind of person who will walk out of the salon with a whole new look. (It's hair! It'll grow back!) So I can say with absolute certainty that I trust the stylists to take me from 15 inches of hair to 7. I'll never go to another salon again. Love you, David Michael's! (FYI, I see Danielle. I'm the kind of person who decides I want a new haircut, and I want it now. Which usually means I end up somewhere cheap that'll take walk-ins, but usually less enthused with the outcome. Decided to try something a little different this morning. We found this place (on yelp), and liked their website, so I gave them a call. The lady who answered it was very friendly and very helpful (I'm originally from South Carolina, and tend to find people short and harsh on the telephone up here in Jersey). We were both able to get appointments at the same time (one of us with David, the other with Christie). We were greeted once we walked in the door with smiling faces and escorted straight back to our chairs. Although I normally love this, I was even a little disappointed because they have this wonderful little cappuccino/coffee station off to this side of the waiting room I totally would have taken advantage of. Its a cozy place, and very friendly. Michael even walked over a little later and sat down to talk with us while we were getting our cuts/coloring. All in all, it was a very comfortable experience, for the hair, the mind, and even the wallet. read more
