Spacious Being - Dr. Jessica Hebert, ND

She is a compassionate listener with an ability to ask questions that enable her clients to become more aware of what is happening within themselves as she herself gets to the core issue needing attention. I'm extremely grateful for her care as I allowed my body to integrate changes in my vision due to surgery that took place months ago. I found her belief that we are each capable of recalibrating to wellness so reassuring.

My posture is better and in the subsequent days after each session I have more energy and increased flexibility. Jessica does a very good job of explaining her techniques and adjusting as needed. She understands what the body needs to relax and heal itself. She will listen to you and formulate a plan to address your areas of concern. At my sessions, all the trouble spots get worked and I always leave in a much better state than when I walked in. The deep tissue work is excellent. The location is easily accessible if you live anywhere on or near Capitol Hill and still totally worth it if you need to come from further away. For the outstanding level of service you get, the prices are very reasonable. While insurance is accepted, my plan does not offer this benefit so paying out of pocket seems to work just fine.

I can't say enough about Dr Nixdorf and how amazing she is!!! I have had issues with both of my…read morejaws swelling and wanted to go see her for years but never did. Last November I had knee replacement surgery and developed restless leg syndrome. It affected my life so much, I had to cancel a trip to Italy and any long distance traveling (including seeing my grandchildren in California). I decided to just do it, go see Dr Nixdorf. Wow!!! My first appointment was 1-1/2 HOURS! When have you EVER had that much time with a doctor? She looked over my paperwork, and said the restless leg will be a piece of cake, but the jaw swelling, THAT intrigued her. I've been dealing with the jaw swelling for over 15 years and have seen over seven doctors. The last doctor told me it was allergies and it happens a lot (I do not know anyone who has had the same symptoms) and told me I could take up to TEN allergy medications a day. What? So going to see Dr Nixdorf, I have not only resolved the issue of the restless leg syndrome but I now have a diagnosis on WHY my jaw swells! AMAZING doctor. Very intuitive, wonderful atmosphere, AWESOME staff, I can't say enough. If you're looking for a doctor who will LISTEN to you, Corvallis Natural Medicine is the place. Check out her website! I am SO happy I found Dr Nixdorf!!!!

I do not recommend Dr. Susan Andersen. I saw her for nearly 4 years and spent a lot of money on…read morevarious healing modalities only to learn that she missed the underlying cause of my physical symptoms. All it would have taken is a simple blood test and a logical mind. After all those years (and all that money) I went to another Doctor of Naturopathy who, after hearing my story of symptoms and struggle, doing a full exam (which Dr. Andersen never did), and running a simple blood test, I am undergoing treatment for Lyme Disease and it seems to be helping. Dr. Andersen was not pleased that I decided to see another practitioner and refused to give me a copy of my medical records, though I offered to pay for them. I called and left messages. I spoke to her personally. I sent several emails. And still did not receive a copy of my records that are my legal right to have. I sent a certified letter in the mail only to have her refuse to sign for it. Next, I am going to have to hire an attorney just to get my records. This is horrible and unprofessional and suspicious. I've sense talked to others in Newport, Oregon who have attempted to use her for their medical care, but quickly (unlike me) learned that she is manipulative and dishonest, and really knows very little about the healing modalities she recommends. I wish I had realized this about her, before, but I was in such a vulnerable, fragile state due to my chronic condition. I put too much trust in her, did not listen to my suspicions, and wasted several years and a lot of money.

I like to establish a relationship with my health care provider prior to being sick, so I went to…read moreDr. Hughes for a general check-up to see how his practice was, and if I would like to engage him with my care. Short answer: No. Dr. Hughes was very brusque in his manner and not very considerate or caring. My primary concern at the time was allergies (grass season, yay!). I told him that my work requires me to be outside, so I needed to find ways to deal with grass. Despite me JUST telling him I had to be outside, his first piece of advice was to "avoid the allergens". What, quit my job? His second piece of advice was to move out of the Willamette Valley, so he probably did mean to quit my job. He also gave me information regarding weight loss that was incredibly insensitive as well as plain wrong. I was about 15 pounds overweight, and struggling with counting calories. Dr. Hughes told me that exercise wouldn't help me at all, and that I had to drastically lower my calorie intake. I was already limited to 1200 calories per day, which is what most diets, nutritionists, and doctors recommend. Going below 1200 calories is dangerous because your body can go into "starvation mode". To suggest to me, a slightly overweight person, that exercise was irrelevant and I should eat fewer calories was callous and dangerous advice. He also suggested to me that I might have psychological issues because I didn't want a scale in my house. I track my weight using body measurements, because scales tend to demotivate me when I'm struggling with diet changes: body weight fluctuates so much!. I have since lost those 15 pounds, by the way, by using exercise and myfitnesspal.com to track my food intake. It is basic math. Calories in is less than calories expended then you lose weight. Which INCLUDES exercise, and for me, fewer processed foods. It was a very bizarre experience, and I would not recommend him to anyone.

He is Autistic, has mixed type ADHD, Bipolar/depression issues, tics, etc...and prior to finding the Center For Developing Hope, my son had been seeing a psychiatrist who had him on so many medications, my son had become a semi-functional zombie. Despite all the medications, he had a miserable quality of life. Nothing we tried seemed to work. He was barely speaking anymore and we hadn't seen a smile on him in years. Then we found Josh Sizemore at the Center for Developing Hope. It is not an exaggeration to say he has absolutely changed our lives. He got my son off the anti-psychotic drugs (which it turns out he did not need) gently and with great kindness and patience. He looked at my son as an entire person rather than a bag of symptoms that needed managing. Slowly, (and after we had tapered him off previous medications) Josh used his amazing diagnostic skills to add only the medications at dosages absolutely needed without over-medicating him. The medications he prescribed support my son/his various conditions rather than numbing him to everything. My son started talking to us again-we even get an occasional smile! Though we still have a long way to go, I just wanted to put this out there for any other parents of struggling neurodivergent children, that this is a SAFE PLACE to take them for help. I absolutely recommend the Center for Developing Hope and specifically Josh Sizemore. I really can't say enough good things about him and the center :) Another great thing-if you are neurodivergent and have sensory issues (such as lights, smells, etc), this center is fragrance free and they actively ask clients and family to not wear colognes/perfumes/etc. They are happy to dim lights even further when needed, but the lighting is not like the harsh over-lighting of standard practices.
