I always thought Spotlight was a shop to go to if you were after a lamp, or a set of curtians. Both…read moreof these are available, however Spotlight does offer a lot more. This place is a one stop shop for all regular house hold needs, and is open 7 days a week. If you're shopping from bed linen, or after gardening, office or kitchen supplies, you're bound to find something here. Otherwise the variety makes it an ideal place to go Christmas shopping, if you have left things to the last minute. The prices are reasonably cheap, but the quality is excellent. Everything here is advertised on sale, but I'm pretty sure the prices have been bumped up beforehand to compensate.

Hmmm, I have a love/hate relationship with this place, but have given it 4 stars (since I couldn't…read moreselect 3 1/2) because ultimately I can usually get most things I need from here. What I don't like is that this Spotlight is like most of them - MESSY!! It's hard to find what you need amongst the chaos. It's like everything is literally thrown in there with no consideration for organisation or logic. The other thing I don't like are the cheap options for most things - instead of stocking high quality wool, for example, only cheap acryllic and substandard wool blends are available ... but I guess that's what their customers want - they'd go elsewhere if they wanted to step up the quality. And I guess that's what Spotlight is good for. But the sheer range is great! I came here for Velcro, and was faced with more options and colours than I needed ... but at least they had some!! And that's why I keep coming back (albeit reluctantly) ;) I must say their registers have been moved, and this has made the check-out more efficient than it was on my last visit, so that's another plus ;)

I don't go into Cotton On all that regularly, wherever the store may be, because I find them…read moreslightly overwhelming. This Cotton On is no exception - I think it's actually more chaotic that others in the chain. This store is just a standard guys' and girls' clothing shop. No kids' wear or underwear here. Thank goodness, because it's crazy enough without. I dove in here desperately seeking shorts, as the ones I was wearing were hideous, according to both myself and my boyfriend, and I'd subsequently spilt chocolate all over them. The sales racks down the back of the store were overflowing with size 8s of all styles. I can't resist a $10 pair of shorts, so I kept looking until I found something closer to my normal size 12 (of which there were NONE to be seen.) Half an hour later I stagger out with nothing. Why don't these clothes fit? What's wrong with me?? So apparently, I'm a size 14 around the legs, but not the backside. How does that work? I seem pretty proportional - I'm big all over!! Yet the shorts gape like crazy at the back. Maybe you're just meant to wear them a lot tighter at the front? Ew. I now recall why I don't shop here. Nothing ever fits. This saddens me, because I like cheap clothing, and I like their casual styles. Sadly, it is not meant to be.

Cotton On in Glenelg is run by friendly and helpful staff. It's no where near the size of the…read moreRundle Mall & Marion Cotton On stores, but I still go in there for a browse and with no intention to spend a single cent, only to walk out with a new outfit. They have also recently added some Typo range into their store, which is great.

Cunningham's Warehouse at Brighton used to be a working example of how not to run a store. There…read morewere cardboard boxes everywhere, crappy stock and appalling staff who spent more time arguing with each other and on smoko than serving. That was the past. Since it changed hands a little over a year ago the place has gone from strength to strength, and I overheard that these franchise holders have opened up another store of this kind in Adelaide. These guys are a family business and whilst mum knows where in the sea of items a pocket tripod would be, the son in his early 20s (I'm guessing) is the model of customer service. He's always friendly and helpful without being prying or annoying, I wish more shop assistants were like him. There is so much stock, at unbeatable prices. Whatever item you need, it will be here somewhere. I warn you though, you will NOT walk out without purchasing something, it's just so affordable! Doing craft, sewing, make up, hair, your house, your car, a shin dig, need to stuff a stocking or go to a costume party? These guys will have what you're looking for, for next to nothing. It is difficult getting stuff down from some of the items higher up as the stock is floor to ceiling. Having attended many a costumed function, I've gotten loads of fancy dress items from here. When I talked to another lady about it who lives in my area she remarked "Yes! I love that store, it's a like a bazaar" and I think that's pretty spot on. As long as this family has the reigns I will be coming to this store for my any and everything.
