I don't know about you, but my eyesight is very important to me…read more When I saw a flash of light in my right eye, and then a black "dot," I knew that I had to see an Ophthalmologist. I have heard that seeing a flash in your eye is not a good thing. I called my insurance company, and found Dr. Lauren Zimski, an Ophthalmologist, was located near my work, and she accepted my insurance. I called. and was able to get in late that afternoon. I went and it all worked out fine. I was glad that I went. I had a new large floater in my right eye. My brain would adjust, and the flash of light was the floater, luckily. Seeing a flash of light can be a bad thing, so if this ever happens to you, get in to see an eye doctor ASAP. So, with that being said, I really liked Dr. Zimski. She is located in a small office with one other doctor. The office is small, by this, I mean, when you enter, the waiting room is right there, with the receptionist window right there when you enter. There are about six or seven chairs, but it's comfortable. Parking is easy, with parking lots nearby. Dr. Zimski does everything for/by herself, when you see her. If you need drops in your eyes, she does it, if you need your eyes dilated, she does it, if you need something else, she does it. She does it all, not an assistant. She takes her time with you, talks with you, listens to you. She is a medical doctor, an Ophthalmologist, meaning, according to Wikipedia, "the branch of medicine that deals with the anatomy, physiology and diseases of the eyeball. An ophthalmologist is a specialist in medical and surgical eye problems." I wouldn't want anyone else except an Ophthalmologist dealing with my eyes, my vision. Dr. Zimski does an excellent job! If you need a good, caring, friendly, Ophthalmologist, then give Dr. Zimski a call. You will be glad you did, I'm glad I did. I'll be seeing you (and no pun intended either). thanks

I've been to a few eye clinics in Denver due to moving around a bit and never quite found a great…read moreoptometrist in the process. I decided to make the decision to get eye surgery last year and sought out recommendations and yelp for the best care. A friend highly recommended Dr. Lewis so I decided to make the appointment with him. Dr. Lewis is pretty straight forward and thorough which I really appreciate. I could see where people might misconstrue this to be rude and that can be someone else's opinion but honestly, I think he just likes to be honest and avoid wasting people's time. It's never great to feel like another number when you're seeking out care but Dr. Lewis and his team never made me feel that way. The techs and staff here are really friendly and welcoming. They helped to ease any fears or anxiety I had without being invalidating or passing judgment. One of the techs told me he himself got PRK from Dr. Lewis because he is so good at his job. And looking back on my whole experience, he's right! During the initial consultation appointment Dr. Lewis made sure to check all my measurements twice and assess for any other abnormalities. He was consistent and steadfast throughout this process and explained to me his concerns with lasik versus PRK given my specific eyes. I opted for the PRK after consulting with him and doing my own research. He and his team were on top of all the pre-surgery, surgery and post-op appointments. He also was just consistent each and every appointment, confident but always listening to my concerns. He fairly warned me the recovery process is not easy, which was accurate. Though I was unsure and feeling uneasy with my eye's recovery process after the first post-op appointment, he continued to assure me and offer further follow up appointments later after a few months. I'm actually sitting in the office at my post-op three month follow up appointment as I write this review. The appointment wasn't necessary but I had some concerns come up and he was happy to schedule me. I just told him my concern and he knew exactly what's at fault and gave a recommendation to address the problem. Even in this interaction when other doctors may have scoffed at having another follow up despite a successful surgery, he showed he cares. He's been practicing for a long time now and it shows, not only with his knowledge but how he provides patient care. I'm so grateful for the recommendation my friend gave and wanted to share with others who may also be seeking out such options for surgery. I've really enjoyed coming to this office and am so grateful to Dr. Lewis and his team for providing me with 20/20 vision after wearing glasses and contacts the past 20 years. Also glad this will be my last appointment for the foreseeable future!

They have the most up-to-date equipment (Dr. Stuart Lewis loves his toys!). I have never had a problem with billing or experienced overcharging. I would (and have!) highly recommend this practice!

Unfortunately, based on my experience, I would strongly encourage anyone considering this provider to take my feedback into account. I found Dr. Taravella's bedside manner to be unprofessional and disappointing. During my pre-operative appointment, the nurse repeatedly said the doctor would be in shortly to review what would be happening during my surgery. I could hear other physicians meeting with and speaking directly to their patients, but I did not see or hear from my doctor prior to surgery. Another physician did come in and clearly explained what would be happening, which I appreciated. I did not interact with Dr. Taravella until I was already in the operating room. Even then, during the first eye surgery, he did not speak to me at all and instead conversed with what I assume were fellows present during the procedure. During one of my four post-operative appointments, I waited approximately 55 minutes to be seen. Dr. Taravella spent a total of about four minutes with me and simply stated that I was "healing nicely." He did not review my vision prescription, share my eye pressure results, or address the questions I had documented during my initial screening, specifically whether the ORA testing produced different results than my initial consultations. This was particularly frustrating given that this testing incurred a significant out-of-pocket cost that was not covered by insurance. For clarity and full transparency, I want to note that the pre-op and post-op staff, check-in staff, and other post-operative physicians were outstanding. I saw three different physicians across my four post-operative appointments, all of whom provided excellent care. My concerns are specific to the surgeon who performed the procedure. In hindsight, I wish I had selected a different physician for my surgery.

I asked him if there was damage to that eye, and he said he didn't know, and told me he would see me in 3 months. That response was not good for me and decided to get a second opinion. I am so thankful I did. The new glaucoma doctor knew right away why my vision was blurry. He told me that the previous glaucoma surgery I had failed, and needed to have surgery 2 days later to correct the failed surgery done by Dr. Belen. If I would have stayed with Dr. Belen I could have lost vision in that eye because of his lack of concern not wanted to pursue with further test why my vision was blurry.

How can I choose a permanent lens without any guidance? Since I am not ready to do the surgery right now, I wanted to have my contact lens prescription issued, and even though they made all the measurements and I brought the prescription I am currently using, they refused to give that, so how can I trust them to implant a permanent lens in my eyes, if they don't even know my contact lens prescription? I guess I will be looking for another practice to do my surgery. This costed me over $200 and I did not get any answer.
