They bent over backwards to accomodate my arrival on same day notice and followed through with their promises made from that moment till the end of my stay. The vibe at Mayberry is shown through the dedication that is displayed from accomodations, staffing, classes, facilitators, management, and even the equestrian activities. This place sticks to its promise of love, compassion, and healing. The staff is well selected and relates 100% to all types of addictions, trauma, and mental health. The therapists are well educated and continually select topics and activities relative to engagement and solutions. The food here is beyond restaurant quality! Chef Cameron endlessly provided meals for all allergies, dietary needs, and daily requests for any pallette. He should be charging us:) Case manager Lauren diligently worked with me through some very trying times to assist with solutions and emotional needs. She is fantastic. Horse therapy was something I had never tried through out my previous 7 times at other facilities. It was worth the wait. There is something humbling and majestic about the peace they bring to you during what can be an extremely difficult time. I had been told by other people that I would not want to leave Rise Mayberry Farms...they had never been so right. 30 days went so fast and was so therapeutic for my path, that I found myself easily opting to stay longer for the sober living program they offered. Despite sending four urgent emails to the psychiatrist, I received no response even after three weeks. The lack of communication and care is appalling. She was supposed to get neuropsych testing done immediately, 4 emails and phone calls...never tested. While the location may seem beautiful, the reality is far from it. The actual house is dilapidated, with mold growing on the walls and trash scattered around the property. The therapists are not fully qualified, having only been out of school for a few months and merely trying to obtain their licensing hours. This is not the professional, supportive environment we were promised. So many false promises. They didn't even provide a computer for my daughter to complete her schoolwork, which added to her stress and feeling of neglect. Paradigm Residential Treatment Facility has failed us in every possible way. I feel utterly betrayed by their promises and heartbroken by the impact this experience has had on my daughter. She didn't start my son on the starting dose of Prozac and he got very sick from it. There is a major drug interaction between Cymbalta and Prozac. Our primary doctor and pharmacist were shocked when they heard that she prescribed these two medication together and recommended against taking them together. Since Dr. Thomas came highly recommended, my son did as he was told. Today he saw a psychiatrist and she was shocked that he was on these two medications and immediately told him that there are life threatening side effects. He is stopping the Prozac immediately. If you care about your life, don't go to this doctor. She is a strange one on top of all of this. She seems very medicated herself.

One staff member not only used expletives like a pirate but also managed to call me a Masshole (cause I'm from Massachusetts), only to then give me tips on how to tell good meth from bad meth! Having driven 6 hours to this dump I thought it best to spend the night since it was already dark outside. But first thing in the morning bright and early I was out of there. Though they didn't make it easy. They begged me to please stay even offering to walk my dogs (I brought with me) on my behalf and even take them to the dog park multiple times a day. There I was thinking to myself, 'I don't trust you with MY well-being much less my dogs well-being'! And so I left and hightailed it back to my home. I didn't think a place like this could exist in Malibu, but what this taught me is that even in Malibu one has to do their due diligence in researching a facility. I have since then heard from other individuals that this is a 'body broker' type of place. If you don't know what a 'body broker' is, Google it. Essentially it's when they pay (in one form or another) for someone to get high/use so they can bring them in and charge their health insurance. Alternatively it can also manifest as specifically seeking those in active addiction (regardless of their wanting to get sober or not) and paying/convincing them (one way or another) to come in; and as you may have already guessed: charge their health insurance. It is because of places like Oceanside Malibu that the recovery industry needs to be much more stringently regulated. A place like this dump should not be legally allowed to exist.

best doctor i've ever had - and my standards are HIGH. and…read morehe's a total 'mensch' besides ("mensch" means "a genuine and decent and trustworthy person; someone who will treat you right, and really relate to you, and always as an equal"). there's something about the medical profession that seems to attract folks who are ok professionally, but who don't really relate to you on a human level. so that's one of my main criteria, and it doesn't get any better than dr. jeff harris. his medical knowledge is astonomically superior to most, and his treatments are holistic (even though he doesn't call them that; but he's just as likely to prescribe a vitamin, as a pharmaceutical drug). his office personnel are excellent, too: caring and top-notch, just as you'd expect from a doctor of this caliber. he's been a successful, licensed, practicing physician for well over half a century, and he has been my primary md for about 25 years. and he's kinda known as 'malibu's doctor' - but if you live in northridge - trust me - he's well worth the drive.
