Malibu Medical used to be great, but gave gone downhill. Dr Benya only sees concierge patients, everyone else gets a nurse practitioner. They list my lab results, and I had a televideo appointment booked that they never showed up for. The absolute worst. read more

He eventually left that practice, but I already had found Dr. Lisa Benya. His office became a zoo, it was always packed and we always felt RUSHED. Dr. Benya was highly recommended by a friend. Dr. Benya has been a wonderful pcp for the last 5 years. I moved out to east LA and will unfortunately be finding a new pcp. The only thing... her office staff is so/so. No terrible experiences to speak of, but they're always a bit short and never seem to get back to me (if I leave a message) as quickly as I'd like. That said, I seem to be very picky about doctor's office's office staff... But I'd recommend Dr. Benya as a pcp to anyone at Pepperdine / living in Malibu for sure! read more

I have been going to Dr. Benya's office for six years now...I used to work in Malibu, and that is when I came across this wonderful doctor/person. Now I do the drive from Venice, and I don't mind one bit, because I know that when I get there I have ALL my questions answered in a professional, compassionate and unique manner. The staff at Dr. Benya reflects her demeanor and character...and her Physician Assistant, Joshua, is a predictable addition to that office, just as detailed oriented, patient and caring as Dr.Benya. They have been there for me through thick (anxiety attacks), and thin (simple immunizations), and I am so grateful to have them around. I went to Dr. Benya because she told my husband (who had met her in a social setting) that she was contracted through Motion Picture Insurance. I talked to the office manager who also said she was a contracted Motion Picture Dr, so I made an appointment for a physical. She did a routine physical and then took blood and sent it out to the lab. Once the test results were in, I went back for her to explain everything. She was caring and took her time so I was very pleased with her. HOWEVER, I then got a $1200 bill from the lab because it turns out SHE IS NOT A CONTRACTED MOTION PICTURE INSURANCE DR. Therefore, my insurance wouldn't pay anything. Dr. Benya & her staff lied to me. It took about 5-6 months to get any sort of information from their billing department. And then I just got a bill FROM Dr. Benya for the office visit over 1 year later. She might be a caring doctor but her practice is ridiculous. I would never recommend this office ever! read more

Dr. Benya does not care about her patients, she simply cares about the money she is making. I have no health insurance and am currently unemployed. I paid $227.00 for 10 minutes. I needed to see Dr. Benya for a routine appointment, so I could continue getting the medications she has prescribed me for some time now. I got an appointment and arrived on time. I waited for over 1.5 hours and saw Dr. Benya for 10 minutes. I did not change any medication, got my prescription refill and checked out. They were busy and asked if they could bill me, which was fine. However, I never recieved the bill. I went to the pharmacy to get a refill and they said they called the doctor and faxed the doctor 3 times. They suggested I call the doctor myself. I called and they said they would not authorize the refill unless I paid my bill. I said that I would prefer to pay my bill by check and I would as soon as I received the invoice. They checked my address and did not have my apartment number, they were not willing to wait for the check. They would not call in my refill unless I paid at once. This whole ordeal could have been avoided if they would have been patient enough to bill me at the time of service. This just goes to show you that patient care comes second to money. I have never heard of a doctors office doing something like this. I have always paid Dr. Benya, yet they saw it fit to hold my prescription hostage, sacrificing my quality of life. I guess they deemed it fit to loose a patient over getting a payment at once versus a week at most later. Thanks for the poor quality of care Dr. Benya. I think I will find a doctor who will not make me wait in a long line, and cares about patients. read more

FINALLY AN INCREDIBLE DOCTOR!! I started seeing Dr. Benya about 6 years ago when I moved to the area. There are no words to describe her and her caringness, bedside manner, and thoroughness. I have never felt rushed in any appointment and she pays attention to every detail. She actually listens and asks questions - can't say that for many doctors. As it becomes more and more difficult to find a general practitioner doctor, we are blessed to have Dr. Benya as one. I would travel 100 miles to see her. read more

Dr. Benya is an excellent medical practitioner. She takes the time to listen, is thoughtful and thorough, and because of this, has superb diagnostic skills. I have never waited more than twenty minutes from my appointment time, and if that, because of her willingness to take time with each patient if they need it. I have also had good results with the office staff, if I have called needing a refill, etc...it's taken care of immediately. I would definitely recommend Dr. Benya if you are looking for a doctor in the Santa Monica, Malibu or even Calabasas areas. read more
