Dr. Ikbal is shockingly misinformed about nutrition, pushing urban legends that were disproved…read moredecades ago. This is all the more astounding because nutrition was her undergraduate degree. She also doesn't appear to practice evidence-based medicine. After her asking me what I eat in a typical day, she asked, "Where do you get your protein?" (Ugh. The idea that protein is hard to come by is flatly wrong and severely outdated. As Dr. Nestle, chair of the NY University nutrition dept. said, *26* years ago "We never talk about protein anymore, because it's absolutely not an issue, even among children. If anything, we talk about the dangers of high-protein diets. Getting enough is simply a matter of getting enough calories." The DV/RDA is ~8% of calories from protein, while grains are ~13% protein, vegetables 23%, etc.) She then tried to tell me that I had to combine plants foods to get a complete protein. (That was an urban legend promoted by a popular 1971 book, whose author recanted ten years later. The USDA nutrient database shows that individual vegetables, grains, and beans have all essential amino acids, in higher amounts than what we need.) Finally, she said I should eat more fat. I asked if there were science to support the idea that an addition of fat to an otherwise healthy diet improves health outcomes. Her reply was like, "I've been a doctor for 20 years...." Meaning, no science. By the way, she asked why I chose her, and I said that one of her patients wrote in a review about how he was able to get off all his meds for Crohn's Disease. Dr. Ikbal replied that the patient took himself off the meds, it wasn't her doing. Anyway, after hearing so much misinformation in just a brief, limited interaction, I have to wonder what other misinformation Dr. Ikbal is operating on. If you want a physician who practices evidence-based medicine, you'll probably want to look elsewhere. UPDATE: After I left the above review, suddenly DOZENS of glowing 5-star reviews appeared within a few days, about 1/3 of which are from people not even in the Austin area, many not even in the same state, and many of whom have zero other reviews on Yelp. Yelp has understandably moved most of these to the "Reviews Not Recommended" section. Is Dr. Ikbal buying fake reviews? Draw your own conclusions.

Our whole family has been seeing Dr. Katriny Ikbal for what I guess is about four years now. Dr…read more Ikbal is one of the nicest and most informed doctors we've seen in years. She's made numerous referrals to specialists as needed and has always expressed her utmost concern for our health and well-being. Don't let a negative review dissuade you from using her. In an age where healthcare costs $1,000s a month with high deductibles her medical practice model is the future of healthcare. She's reasonably priced, we've rarely had to wait more than a day to see her and in a crunch she'll make herself available by phone. One of the sweetest people you will ever meet. She's well versed in both conventional medicine and alternative approaches. Yes, she'll nag me about getting my annual bloodwork which is included in her fee but she does it politely and because she cares. Fred M. and Family

From the moment I walked into Bluebonnet Diabetes & Endocrinology, I felt seen and respected--not rushed or reduced to numbers on a chart. Dr. Lalani took the time to truly listen to my health concerns and history. She asked thoughtful questions, reviewed my labs in detail, and created a personalized treatment plan that was both clear and manageable. What stood out most is how collaborative she is. Dr. Lalani explains complex medical issues in a way that's easy to understand, works seamlessly with my PCP, and doesn't make me feel judged--only supported. Whether we're adjusting medications, exploring lifestyle changes, or planning for long-term goals, she makes me feel like an active partner in my own care. Another plus: Dr. Lalani's appointments run on time and she even offers virtual visits, which is a huge help with my busy schedule. If you're struggling to get real answers or tired of feeling like just another case number, Dr. Lalani will be a breath of fresh air. She's not only a brilliant physician but a genuinely kind human being. Highly, highly recommended.

I assume if you are willing to pay in cash, up front - you might actually be able to see a doctor.

The scheduler was able to get me in to the Bee Cave location with Dr. Wang within the same week. Huge points for availability. Check in was a breeze. Two large waiting areas; however, didn't use because my name was called within moments. Yay. Dr. Wang has a great personality. He's very friendly and actually listens. He addressed all of my concerns thoroughly and promptly. Visit notes were available on My Chart the very next day - a Saturday! I have a follow-up telehealth visit with him this week, so I will see how that goes. Overall, a great experience. Definitely worth the extra distance because things worked so much more quickly. :) Plus - xrays available on-site. Very convenient. Tech was nice. Meh - some things are very antiquated. I actually had to fill out paper forms to allow them to share information with another physician. Gasp! Lol. And in order to share my images, I had to drive back to pickup a CD. What? They don't have the ability to forward them electronically.

I went back and she checked me out and recommended PT. Its hard to find quality doctors out there, especially the ones who care about their patients. I would recommend this clinic and the doctor.
