Dr. Bates and his staff are excellent!! The front office team greeted me warmly when I arrived and checked me in promptly. Some of them were answering phones or returning calls and they handled all of the situations professionally. I was taken back promptly and the tech asked pertinent questions, taking good notes. Dr. Bates came in, summarized why I was there to make sure the information relayed to him was correct, and after a brief exam explained his treatment plan. I'm writing my review after my first visit because I am hopeful. I didn't even have that when I came in to see Dr Bates. I haven't been able to wear shoes for months and can barely walk. I have had multiple painful changes in my feet in the past year, saw a different foot doctor 3 months ago. She did the standard footwork so to speak, but nothing more. I have to say I appreciate the difference between someone who is book smart and quick with a computer, vs someone who has the knowledge, compassion and skill, and engages all their thought processes and actually care enough to take the time to figure out what's going on. I obviously prefer the the second and Dr Bates has shown to be that kind of doctor! Yay! YAY! I don't have to keep looking! read more

My husband hasn't stopped talking about DrBates and his staff and office. Only positive comments from how clean and modern the office was. That Dr Bates was friendly and explained to him about his feet and ingrown nails and helped him get orthotics that were covered by my insurance. read more

It took a while but I'm walking pain free and hopefully back to running soon. I think Dr. Bates is a very good podiatrist, he listens intently and his staff is good at what they do. I have nothing better than 5 stars for Dr. Bates and his staff. Dr. Bates explained things so that I understood my options. He is very kind, shows empathy and is always very gentle when working on my feet when I'm in pain. I used to cringe at the thought of seeing a podiatrist but Dr. Bates has removed all my past fears. I have been seeing Dr.Bates for about 2 yrs. He is a great Dr.! He takes his time with you,( not like soo many Drs., who rush you in and out!),explains everything to you, just a nice, great Dr.! The office girls,and assistant, are great too! I had bunion surgery,2 ingrown toe nails removed and a Joint Fusion. The before and after x-rays were amazing,what a difference! His work is amazing! I had gone to a few other Podiatrists in the past, they were nothing comparable to Dr.Bates! The only regret I have is.... Not finding Dr.Bates first! read more

I've had knee and foot problems all my life. After several knee replacements my left foot is worn out. My wife has been a patient of Dr Bates for years, my problem is arthritis, cortisone injections only help for a short period. Next is surgery. What I like most about the Dr he will take the time to explain what I need. Very friendly, his office staff very nice they get you in quick. Dr Bates is one of the few who will talk with you, not be in a hurry! Great place. read more

My husband and I have both been recent patients of Dr. David Bates and I can tell you from our experience--5 stars all the way! I will let him update you on his experiences. I hurt my foot recently at the gym and Dr. Bates was able to see me the same day when I booked my appointment on Zoc Doc. Loved being able to fill out forms and have everything ready BEFORE I get there. Loved that I could get x-rays done of my injury ON SITE. Loved how quickly I was seen by the Dr. Loved that I could be fitted with an immobility boot ON SITE. Dr. Bates was an excellent listener who was empathetic yet clinical but not so much that he talked over my head. He explained how my injury happened, gave examples, and shared with me what I can do to prevent it in the future. Very impressed with Dr. Bates and am glad he's in my corner as a healthcare provider! read more

I would like to first start off by saying thank you Dr Bates and thank you ANGIE. I had a incident with a pyrex dish earlier in December and I lost, I went to an urgent care and I remove all of the glass huh so I thought. While I'm in Phoenix on business the pain was becoming very annoying to the point to where something had to be done I was given Dr Bates phone number by an office that was too busy, not customer-friendly, and very inconsiderate. Yay for me!!!! A few things to about Dr Bates not only was he not 65 ( not sure why I thought he was the old man ) but he was very personable and you could tell the relationship that he had with his staff (pitching in to help out)and the caring personality he showed for his patients. I started off explaining that I have a zero tolerance for pain and he appreciated that because what he didn't know is that I can be pretty animated. The worst thing turns out to be the best thing because he gave me step by step of what he was going to do. He started my off with frozen foot and a needle that made me question if he liked me or not, he laughed and paused for moment(if I can get them to laugh then I know that they are comfortable too ) he assured me that I was in good hands NO LIE so far so good I'm walking a little bit better the glasses out. He advised that in a few days if it felt like something was still there come back for CT scan and on Wednesday an anesthesiologist will be in the office if you need to put me out. My primary physician insisted I see Dr. Bates specifically, after a "mysterious" set of symptoms arose with one of my feet. An urgent care doctor was unable to resolve it when tests for DVT/etc all came back negative, nor was my primary able to figure out what was causing the incredible pain and swelling.. He referred me to Dr. Bates specifically, and when I had a problem scheduling my initial appointment due to my hours, I called my primary back for another referral. He wouldn't hear of it, and insisted I see Dr. Bates "no matter what". Within 2 minutes of Bates walking in the room I had a diagnosis. Not only that, but it turns out it is a complicated condition to manage. Explaining at the outset what would be involved, his care and support helped me gain control of it to stop further damage, and he has worked closely with me over the past several months, managing both the condition and my morale. Dr. Bates is quite encouraging. I have NEVER raved about a doctor before - under any circumstances. But this one - this one is different. Frankly, he cares about his patients' experience in his office and with his staff. Speaking of his staff, everyone in that office has treated me respectfully and kindly, and demonstrated technical proficiency far beyond the status quo in medical care. I wish all my doctors provided the same quality service as Dr. Bates and his staff. Other podiatrists should be scared to death of him - he sets the bar incredibly high. read more

I have gone to Dr. Bates for about 6 months now primary to cut my nails and inspect my feet for sores. Dr. Bates himself is incredible, he is polite and is caring... my interaction with his staff is also top notch, polite and caring. I cannot recommend his practice enough. If you have feet problems, need help with nail care, this is the place to go. FYI, if you are on Medicare, they might pay for having your hails cut. read more

Finding Doctor Bates was absolutely wonderful! I cannot emphasize enough on how professional, knowledgeable and kind he is. When it comes to your feet, I mean wow, you only have two of them! The entire staff makes you feel so comfortable and are so friendly as well. Angie, the office manager really knows her stuff, insurance company billing, orders and scheduling, you name it! Brittany runs the front desk, she is so thourough, so very cool and the sweetest!!! I retired as an investigator for the State of Arizona and was a Health Care investigator for 10 of those years dealing with nurses, doctors and health care facilities. I was awakened at 1:00am on Tuesday evening with a terrible pain in my big toe. As soon as 8:00 came the next morning I started calling podiatrists located near my home. None would see me, as a new patient, until the following week, even though I explained that I was in terrible pain. One did refer me to Dr. Bates. His wonderful staff got me in to see him at 9:00 Wednesday morning. Even though his office was 45 minutes from my home, I went to see him. I agree with other reviews that Dr. Bates and his staff are, hands down, the most caring people I have come across. He listened, and explained that I had gout and treated me on the spot. When I called the next day and explained that I was still in pain, he gave a prescription to my partner for a strong pain killer. I will get another great night of sleep thanks to Dr. Bates and his wonderful staff. I would highly recommend Dr. Bates to anyone looking for help with foot or ankle issues.
