I WANT to come here, as it is locally owned. The people that work here are friendly, helpful, as is the owner. I understand that there isn't a big turnover in produce as is the "big stores", so it might get a bit wilted- Americans expect too much perfection, and much then gets wasted and is increased in cost. Yet, the produce section sometimes has things that are WAY past their prime, that should not be out there. Considering the size limitations of the store, they do alright, though they have not seemed to notice the large Hispanic population here, and are sorely missing an opportunity here. I have come in to pick up just a few items that I thought were standard, only to be disappointed and make the drive to my usual store.
What would have to change so I would shop here? Increase the diversity of produce, order more often so you can turn it over. The hot food section and deli section could take some flavor updating. Increase the selection of food, as well as knowledge of staff where to FIND food (I dunno is not acceptable from cashier). Some exceptional SOMETHING that people might come in for- that would truly grab me- as I am an experienced and adventurous cook- would rock my world and draw me in. And switch the bakery and the deli with the liquor section- I consume alcoholic beverages, though it is unnecessary for me to walk through it. A hungry customer walking through a great looking deli/hot counter, soup in the winter, truly helps (look at other stores in the area. Consider Ralphs in California- I LOVE to shop there!)
Again, I WANT to support a local business. I will even spend a bit more, especially if they would REMEMBER me (like they do in a busy Pick N Save). Call me by the name on my debit card. It is just right now, no can do. read more
