Our experience with DASH Contracting has been nothing short of a nightmare. In August, we hired them to combine two bedrooms into a master suite and install new flooring throughout our 1,900 sq ft home. Daniel, the owner, was eager to start the project, which was important to us due to the urgent need to provide a living space for my 80-year-old parents, whose health was declining. Unfortunately, the project quickly went off course. Initially, the plan was to start with the flooring while waiting for permits to be approved. However, when we returned from a trip to Alaska, no work had been done. The only action taken was the removal of the existing flooring, leaving us with bare concrete floors for nearly two months. The entire project, which should have taken a few weeks, dragged on for six months. During that time, we never had a full week of consistent work. Often, workers would come for just a few hours, and there were entire weeks when no one showed up. Communication with Daniel was extremely poor, and when we confronted him about the delays, he suggested we work with Carlos, his project manager. Sadly, Carlos was just as unresponsive, and despite our daily follow-ups, progress remained nonexistent. One of the most frustrating issues was with the plumbers that DASH provided. They openly admitted that DASH owed them money, which directly impacted the quality and timeliness of their work. As a result, we are left with rattling pipes and flooring that sounds as if water is trapped underneath. Even though the work was not completed to satisfaction, and the delays were entirely on DASH's part, they insisted that we uphold the contract and pay the full amount, including several additional expenses they failed to account for upfront. This was our first experience working with a contractor, and unfortunately, we learned many costly lessons along the way, including the importance of setting clear time limits in contracts. The delays and deception throughout this process have not only caused financial stress but have also contributed to the decline in my parents' health during the six months of waiting.
