Das möbel is hands down my favorite cafe in Vienna, land of the 1001 cafes! While you don't get the old-school class of the ancient Viennese cafes, don't think that Das Möbel doesn't have character. Friendly service, large tables, and free wifi make this my go-to spot for studying or writing. They've got coffee, cold drinks, beer, and the delightful Club Mate to keep your thirst quenched as you linger here all day. They even have a small food menu (and brunch on the weekends) in case you get a bit peckish. I recommend the quiche, it's the perfect brain food. This large cafe space with white walls keeps the place well lit during the day and the large doors along the Burrgasse side let in lots of air during the warmer months. Real studenty feel to this bar/restaurant/breakfast venue. Large bar counter and plenty of tables abound which is very nice as we had unsuccessfully tried to breakfast in two other well known breakfast places in Vienna but were unable to find a table free. So theres the first tip: there is lots of space here to sit! We had a quick look at the menu but decided to go ahead and have the breakfast buffet recommended to us by the cheerful waiter. Priced at a little over 13€ I though it may turn out to be a bit of a disappointment and seeing the buffet my initial reaction was that I would be proved right. But as so often less is more. What looks to be a smallish selection at first glance actually turns out to be pretty much all you need for a decent breakfast. There is bread and bread rolls (and brioche), sliced meats and cheeses, yoghurt and cereals. Included with the breakfast is a boiled egg, one cold drink and one hot one. So what else do you really need for a decent wholesome breakfast? Free WiFi? Tip number two: there is a computer on the bar offering 15minutes internet for free and thereafter 1€ for 15 each minutes after but the whole place is covered by free WiFi too. After helping ourselves to some yoghurt and cereals, the soft boiled eggs arrived. They were cooked to perfection! Two more trips to the buffet for more bread, cheese and meat and we were stuffed. It was then that I spotted the beans and sausages! A real cowboy breakfast if ever there was one. Warmed baked beans and cocktail sausages in a spicy sauce. Yummy!!! Tip number three: the sauce is a little spicy but there is a bottle of Tabasco sauce for that extra kick! Tip number four: don't get distracted and put too much Tabasco sauce in or you will end up regretting it very soon after! After working my way through the beans and sausage and needing something to sooth my burning tongue I had a slice of homemade cake with chocolate. Just the ticket! Overall this is a very nice place to have a relaxed breakfast and with large windows you get a great view of the world going by. The only slight comment I will make is that there are not as many hot breakfast options on the menu so if you are more in for the English or American style breakfast you might be a little disappointed but that being said as a typical Austrian/Continental breakfast it is right up there! read more

Das Möbel is a pretty trendy place and serves a decent cappuccino. Next time I'll order a melange so I can report back as to whether it's the exact same drink or if it's smaller, the way some cafes do. They both cost €2,70, so a good price/the going rate for a cappuccino/melange in Vienna. The menu, including their cocktails and wine, looks great. Maybe next time I'll get a "real" drink instead of a melange.. Either way, there will be a "next time"! read more

This cafe has become one of my favorite locals, whether I am meeting a friend for coffee, going there to read a book or study my German. The awesome thing about it is that all of the furniture ("das Möbel" in German) is for sale. The sales room is not so far away and the cafe is used as a showroom. So you will find lots of unique and cool chairs, tables and lamps here. The thing I like most (apart from their elderflower tea) is that they are open on both Sundays and bank holidays when everything else in Austria is closed!! You will find lots of students here, mixed among groups of young and older people. Lots of internationals here but I also hear a lot of German being spoken too. The waiters and waitresses are a friendly, relaxed bunch which adds to the nice atmosphere of the place. read more

If you are looking for a comfy and in the same time funny place to study for a while or to have coffee with your friends in a welcoming environment, you are definitely in the right place! Das Möbel is different from any café I've ever been in. Passed the curtain at the entrance, you arrive in a woody wide room with a lot of big tables, desk seats and chairs, and even some sofas. If you want to study for a while, it's exactly the surroundings you need! A lot of students come here in the afternoon to find the courage to learn something among other hard-working young people... The staff is very friendly, the drinks both affordable and tasty, with a large offer in coffees and tees (they even propose soy milk!). And the music is really nice and set at the right volume! As for the toilets, it's quite something... I needed a moment to understand the door wasn't supposed to be neither pushed nor pulled, but slided! read more

I had a simple smoked tofu salad and I think I can say it was the best tofu salad I ever had. Can't really say why but it just was. The interior - just like the food - is very simple. No thrills. It seems to be a student hang out yet the tables are not so close together that you would be bothered by alternative snobs philosophizing about the meaning of life. It is entirely non-smoking which is a HUGE plus. And each piece of furniture has a QR code on it in case you want to purchase it. All in all, simple food, simple atmosphere - all good. read more

Great place for coffee and breakfast with local modern art to enjoy along with your experience. The staff is very friendly too. When I tried to pay with credit card, they told me I'd need to get some cash. And they just said come back when you have it, I came back later that afternoon. read more

hip café by the shopping district Mariahilfer Straße where coffee is good and wifi free. also, not many places in Vienna where you can chillax on a 250€ chair with ski legs for rockers then include the chair in your bill, if you're so inclined. all you sit in-eat at, are by young Austrian designers and buyable. lots of space, cool crowd, newspapers and yum healthish buffet lunch makes it all too easy to spend hours of the day here. read more

This place was really lovely. Has a nice whimsical 'arty feel' in both decor and wait-staff. The menu is simple but well prepared and offers up food at very reasonable prices. There is a breakfast buffet on weekends until 4pm that serves up the standard Austrian hangover cure of buns, cold cuts and cheese. After reading about it we arrived here and after waiting 20 mins to be served were told they had run out of food as they were planning to shut shortly. Poor service and would have loved to try the place but not letting us know when we walked in would have been appreciated. read more

For me this place is ok, however not the best place if you are two people in my opinion. The reason for this as the layout is more suited for small to large groups, with big table, which of course is great as not many places are like this. But today i ended up with a saw neck as i was always learning over the table to hear the person i was talking to. But of course it is nothing really to complain about, just something to be aware of. It is however great if you are on a tight budget, as it is possible to spend only a small amount of money here, so for this it is really good for the students. Back again and I want to raise my rating. It seems more lively later in the afternoon (1730-1900h) and has a little more beat too it. Maybe its the new music, maybe its the new lamps and chairs. Good place for work and sip great coffee. I found this cafe in the review by other yelpers. Atmosphere is good for work and look at others' activities around you. They also have an electrical outlet for charging your laptop or phone. Food are good. I had a toast, Quiche and soup. Time passed so fast and I am glad to be there. read more

Relaxed, quiet. Seats not great for group conversations but okay if you're there to get some peace and quiet to read and do some work.
