And sometimes they'll just put on the music they feel like - even if that's a Queen live concert video, blaring - for a full hour - and some songs on repeat. But the drinks are really, really nice - creative, deep menu. And they're reasonably priced for their elegance. ("Rhubarb Dream" was particularly delightful.) Super-hipster decor, with requisite wallpaper, attire, even a van dyke beard spotted among the staff. Downstairs is a bit isolated and would be an okay option if it didn't smell like bathroom sanitizer.

It's a funky spot with mismatched furniture, hip hop playing overhead, tons of drinks and snacks, and an outdoor patio if it happens to be a nice evening in Berlin. There was a hookah bar on the second floor, but we opted for the comfy chairs on the ground floor. They have an enormous selection of cocktails, mostly in the 5-7 euro range, but I opted for a beer instead (I think it was 3.50 euros for 0,5 L). The atmosphere and decor was excellent--mood lighting, cushioned chairs, candles on tables... The only thing I didn't like was the smell of smoke. Thankfully, no one was smoking there at the time, so the smell wasn't too strong. I'm not sure how it compares to the other bars in the area, but I'd recommend it anyway!

One time the band played in the bar and everyone had to sit/stand/jump/dance outside. This of course was during the summer. The second time around, it was an acoustic set by one of my favorite bands. I couldn't complain. Except about the general layout of the place....I always hate it when you enter and the bar is just standing RIGHT THERE IN FRONT OF THE DOOR. If there is a line for some drinks, then the first thing you do is run into people. It's quite annoying. Also annoying are the drunkards that stumble in and out. That one night that I was there in particular, there were a few smelly ones. However, that is not really the establishment's fault, is it? At the same time, I like the glowing letters they have set against the brick walls and the giant bull hanging from the ceiling. Flying male cows are cool, and so is exposed brick. I would come here again, if it isn't full in front of the tresen, if it were summer, or if another decent music act was going on. The service was decent and they do speak English as well. Its more of a punk place too (mohawk punk types) I should mention, but they also play a lot of pop punk (ie Green Day friendly). Typical XBerg non-electro scene shindig.
