I thought it was going to be hard to find a nice Thai restaurant in the northern suburbs- and I'm…read moreglad I looked a bit harder to find Chaa-Ba Thai Cafe! The restaurant is BYO. They have wine glasses and canisters to hold the bottle of wine. I had the money purse as an appetizer, and prawn coconut curry as my main dish. The money purse order comes with 4 and a side of sweet chili sauce! The little fried delicacies were very tasty! The coconut curry was awesome- I got to choose my level of 'hotness'. I ordered the dish medium heat, and also a side of jasmine rice (this is a la carte, and will set you back $3 for a small size; -1 star for having to pay extra for rice). The curry was really good and even had bits of coconut in it! I will definitely be back to try other dishes!

So my wife was keen to have a Thai meal for her birthday recently but there were a range of factors making it difficult for us to travel closer to town for one of the well knowns: soccer practice, me working late etc etc. But our neighbors had tried a Thai less than a mile (and walking distance) from home. What could go wrong? (Remembering my most recent experience gave me chills) Turns out, a young Thai couple have set up in the ruins of an old coffee shop nearby and the night was a great experience! Luckily we had phoned to see if they would be open after training as she said we needed to book. On arrival at 7:30, only one of the eight tables was set with cutlery... But over the next hour or so the tables filled and people arrived to collect their take away. One chef, great fresh, timely delivered food and a free dish for my wife's birthday! Not only that, the hostess then brought out a complimentary deep fried ice cream with sparkler to celebrate! If you've read my reviews, I'm pretty reluctant to give out five stars, but I'm making an exception this time for a new family run business, out in the Brisbane 'burbs who are doing it right.

There is plenty of parking in this complex and Thai Ayuthaya has lots of room inside and outside for patrons. We sat outside for lunch today, and were almost the only ones there. That's not to say the quality of this food isn't good - it is! We ordered from the lunch menu which has a range of noodle, rice, curry and stir fry dishes for only $10.90 (Vegetarian/Chicken/Beef/Pork) or $14.90 (Prawn/Seafood) We had the Panang Curry and the Rice + Stir fried with Cashew Nuts. Both meals were super tasty! The Panang had a nice amount of spice to it and the dishes were actually quite large portions. Sometimes these lunch specials mean you only get a small serve of the curry or stir fry but Thai Ayuthaya serves up a hearty portion. I've ordered takeaway from here a few times now and have always been impressed by the quality and price of the food. I've noticed that the dine-in menu is a bit more expensive than the takeaway menu, but I guess you're paying for the atmosphere and attentive staff. Our waitress was very lovely and attentive all during our lunch.

They offer delicious meals with extremely friendly service, in a cute atmosphere with traditional decor. Our staples dishes are curry puffs, satay chicken and massaman curry. I highly recommend the Ayuthaya fried rice, it's a meal in itself!! The 'Koh Samui diving' fish in coconut is also amazing. They have a busy take away area and are Byo and licensed with indoor and outdoor seating and lots of car parks.

They serve all the usual standard Thai dishes, but they also have an Isaan spin to their menu, which isn't that common in Brisbane. The Isaan or Northeastern region of Thailand, which shares its border with Laos and Cambodia, has a few signature dishes that don't usually appear in most Brisbane Thai restaurants. I love the dish Lard Na, which is stir fried flat rice noodles in a Thai style gravy. I know it doesn't sound all that appealing but it is a standard Isaan meal, it takes me right back with each mouthful. It is best eaten with extra chilli powder, sugar, fish sauce and lime/vinegar. Adjust to your tastes. The Yum Nua Nam Tog is a Laos style salad which is best eaten spicy, but you can request it mild or medium instead. The Pad C-Ew (with chicken) and Pad Chilli and Basil are also standout dishes. Thai Natong also has a really cheap lunch deal, with a number of Stir Fried or Curry dishes, or Noodle dishes for $8.90 (Chicken, Pork, Beef, Vegetarian) or $10.90 (Duck, Lamb, Prawn or Combination Seafood). Unfortunately they are only open for lunch on weekdays, not weekends.

Restaurant clean, spacious and service is good…read more. This is a simple and extremely clean Thai restaurant on the Northside. When we entered we were greeted straight away, and asked if we were dining in or if we wanted a takeaway. Once seated, the service was fast and friendly, this couldn't be faltered. Bottled water was on the table instantly, and a plate of complimentary prawn crackers were placed down moments later. The food was delicious, the servings were very generous from the serve of coconut rice to the Chicken Phat Khing and vegetables. I would definitely recommend this meal. I am not sure what the couple beside us were eating, but they also made it known that there meal was delicious and they were happy with their meal. What did surprise me is the chef came out and walked around the tables ands spoke to us, asking if our meals were to our satisfaction and if there was anything else she could make us to let her know. Over all it was a good experience, the owners took pride in their restaurant, keep it impeccably clean and I will definitely go back if I was ever on the Northside for a meal.

Because it is a great idea. And I do know just the place. And that place is Thai Sa-Bai. I cannot sing its praises highly enough. Eat in, take away, it's all amazing. The menu is varied and delicious ... OK, I'll confess, every single dish I've eaten here has been duck. Green duck curry, BBQ duck ... and seriously, I couldn't be happier. Delicious!!! The curry puffs are delightfully curry-y and (so I've heard) the Pad Thai is so good it's stupid. Please, please, please order the garlic rice. My mind was blown by the garlic rice. In fact, I'd be happy to just have the garlic rice (I need to say garlic rice one more time). The service is amazing and the staff are so very friendly. I've had take-away on Saturday night and during the week, and I've eaten at the restaurant a dozen times and the quality just doesn't vary. Seriously, you need to eat here. (And I know you're wondering why I haven't given this amazing place 5 stars ... it's because the air conditioning is much, much too cold. Bring a cardie).
