When your body speaks to you, listen. Especially when you get older…read more I'm on my feet a lot and have experienced several foot/leg issues where eventually it was resolved. But step in diabetes, where overlooking issues under this condition can be tragic. Just last week at my part time job, a customer came in and I recognized his voice as he's a regular. But I didn't immediately recognize him as he lost a lot of weight and clearly had mobility issues. When I blurted out his name, indeed it was him. He told me he was diabetic and ignored a toe injury where a life-changing procedure slowed him down. For a couple of weeks now, I had what seemed like a blister on one of my toes where it now became 2. It was painful to walk in shoes and when I showed it to family members where one is doing her residency at a large hospital and my sister has been an RN for over 30 years, was told it could be either a blister, callous or wart. I, too, am diabetic and fears crossed my mind. My sister strongly suggested I have it investigated immediately. Step in Ricky Sukita (RS). RS is a podiatrist who has been in practice for over 35 years. Located in Kuakini Physician's Exchange, the office of RS is on the 11th floor. It was so nice to make an appointment where his staff immediately answered the phone when I called. Their records show this wasn't my first time to the office, but I was impressed on the service and professionalism extended to me. I addressed to the staff of my issue and after confirming my address and health insurance plan, I was escorted to an empty office where several minutes later RS showed up. Words cannot express my relief where it was disclosed my issue was callous development. I've had warts before where it was painful and took a long time to resolve. After assessing my regular work and leisure regimen, RS explained of my current condition and how this came all about. He also advised me how to handle this situation and provided me with protection. I appreciated how he informed me and educated me where I understood and didn't feel incompetent that led to my condition. Overall, solid 5-stars to RS and his staff. From making the appointment to walking out of the office after my appointment, there weren't hassles nor stress. I understand RS is taking new patients. If you're looking for a podiatrist, look no further.

After my 2 weeks in Japan where I often hit 20,000 steps daily and ate very well, came back home…read moreand shortly after, noticed my right foot sore. How sore do you ask? It was unbearable this past weekend where I took Ibuprofen for the discomfort. I previously have been under the care of Dr. Ricky Sukita so I called the office first thing Monday morning and was advised Dr. Sukita's first opening is not until in April. I was offered the option to see Dr. Andrew Cheng, who was available and snagged the next appointment at 845am. Located in the same office as Dr. Sukita on the 11F of Kuakini Physician's Tower, Dr. Cheng is also a board certified podiatrist. After confirming which area of my right foot experiencing discomfort, Dr. Cheng performed an assessment of various tests for mobility and sensitivity. I was initially shocked when diagnosed with a mild case of gout. But then recalled about 10 years ago when my PCP mentioned my uric acid level was on the high side and back then had also experienced excruciating sharp pain on my toe. I also had eaten very well in Japan, especially chowing down on deep fried Hiroshima oysters on multiple occasions, Gyukatsu from Motomura and my AYCE shabu shabu dinner. Yikes... Dr, Cheng advised I'd be put on oral medicine to be taken daily to ease the pain and to watch my intake. He had his staff arrange my medication pickup at my location choice where it was ready for pickup within a few hours. Shortly after taking Colchicine, the pinkness of the flare up disappeared and was able to apply more pressure on my right foot. Overall, an excellent first experience with Dr. Cheng. I was able to get the medical attention needed and received the care and direction for recovery. He was easy to speak with and understand my situation where I need to be careful on my diet as well as address this issue when I meet with my PCP for my regular annual physical in a few months.

Pros: Efficient…read morescheduling: The clinic's operations are well-organized, and they can often accommodate patients quickly with same-day appointments. Prompt rooming: I was taken to an exam room almost immediately upon arrival. Cons: Unprofessional bedside manner: While I was explaining the intense pain in my right foot, Dr. Cheng interrupted me to take a phone call and stepped out of the room. When he returned, he offered no explanation or apology, leaving me with the impression that he was unconcerned with my care. Lack of clear communication: He provided very little explanation for my condition, simply stating I had "boney spurs on both feet," handed me some pads, and rushed me out of the office. I ultimately had to seek care from another podiatrist to get the proper treatment and answers I needed. Poor billing practices: The billing department is highly disorganized. I was seen in September 2025, but I did not receive a bill until 7 months later in April 2026. The statement indicates that my insurance company communicated what I owed back in November 2025. It is incredibly frustrating and confusing why it took the office so long to send the bill after that information was already provided. Summary: I had high expectations for this office based on positive reviews, but unfortunately, my experience fell short. The lack of patient care and communication, combined with a disorganized billing department, makes it difficult to recommend this practice.

That alone was a great sign for me because I was in so much pain. The office seems small from the outside but it really quite spacious. First thing you notice is how clean and neat everything is, but also very inviting. That goes for the exam room too. Unlike some offices where you see a lot of people waiting, I was the only one at that time. That's because Dr. Watanabe really takes the time to explain and go over everything with you. She takes time to answer questions, and also working with you to find the best solution for you. I definitely left the appointment more informed of what I needed to do and what I needed to expect in terms of recovery, and for me it means no exercise until further notice. But in the name of getting better. You gotta do what you gotta do.

Dr. Yee quickly took care of my toenails (both big toenails were falling off), and also was able to quickly determine and then patiently explain the mechanics of my foot and body -- basically, what is causing me to have foot troubles. He is very friendly and easy to talk to and gives specific recommendations. The office is conveniently located downtown. He takes my HMSA PPO. I look forward to my next visit here!

Nothing is worse than having a foot problem. I've suffered with foot issues since about 2003…read more Back then, I treated with the Drs. Yee. They helped me overcome the plantar fasciitis that I suffered from back then with proper footwear, a sleeping boot and a foot stretching device. At that time, that was all I needed to get past the problem. Fast forward to Fall 2017. The same problem flared up again, despite wearing correct footwear and stretching. I kept trying to treat it by my usual stretching routine, sleeping with the boot, etc. to no avail. With an trip to New York looming in November, I frantically sought out Dr. Yee again. Having reopened his practice under Honolulu Foot Care, I was happy to see he was still located at the same convenient location (Kukui Plaza). Showing him all the things I was trying to do to self treat the issue, he suggested a more aggressive approach . . . the dreaded shot in the foot! It was not painless, however, the way that Dr. Yee administers the shot makes it much less painful. I walked out of the clinic that day with my foot full of corticoid-steroids and lidocane, feeling no pain. Doc prescribed some anti-inflammatories and with my continued stretching, sleeping in the boot and proper footwear, and I think I'm ready for my trip to New York (walking up to 10 miles a day). . . . Huge thank you to Dr. Yee for fixing my foot problem!!! If you have an issue like this, do not delay....go see Dr. Yee!
