Never had a problem with service and I have had a ton of dental problems. Dr. Wan continually asks…read moreif I'm alright or if she's hurting me.

Having tooth extraction performed by Ms. Wan was one of the most brutal & traumatizing experiences…read moreI've ever had in a medical setting. In fact, after this experience, I will never seek help from any medical establishment. I'd rather die than ever be treated that way again by another medic whilst having any condition involving severe pain which is then trivialized & gaslit. The pre-op valium did not provide any aid. The nitrous had little effect, & the novacaine did next to nothing. For approximately two hours whilst under her knife & needles, I felt nearly everything! In fact, now *ALL I can feel is the sensation of being cut in my mouth, & my jaws being wrenched, over & over again.* I cannot sleep, i cannot eat(i can only sip cold liquids off the end of a spoon), & am in constant pain. Was told to take tylenol and ice. I've done this & followed all instructions religiously, with no effect on pain or swelling. Since it's now causing me kidney & stomach issues, I stopped the tylenol. Furthermore, this office seems to have some issues managing records. I signed a release for nitrous day of consult, after being told I must sign then because I cannot sign after taking the valium tablet. Well, move up to a few days before surgery, they call saying they have no record of me signing a release for nitrous. They send by email. It's promptly signed again, & returned via email. Skip forward to morning of surgery. I arrive having followed instructions to take the valium tablet. I'm brought into the room and asked to sign the same nitrous release form yet AGAIN --AFTER having taken the valium as instructed. I was originally told this was NOT LEGAL, to sign a release after taking valium. The two hours of torture after that & the unremitting pain since, live on in my day & nightmares.

Extremely Disappointed in the Lack of Compassion and Care for Children With Special Needs…read more My family's experience with Tirad Dental in Thomasville has been extremely disappointing, particularly regarding the treatment and consideration shown to my autistic grandson. My grandson has a cavity and can become upset or need additional time to feel comfortable in a dental setting. Rather than demonstrating patience, exploring appropriate alternatives, or discussing different approaches to accommodate his needs, the initial dentist quickly recommended that he undergo treatment under anesthesia. I was disappointed that other options were not meaningfully discussed with our family. Unfortunately, our concerns did not end there. When my grandson returned to the office and saw a different dentist, we hoped for a fresh perspective and a more compassionate approach. Instead, we were again told that he needed to be put to sleep for the procedure. According to my family, the dentist repeatedly referred to him as a girl and did not appear to give him an opportunity to become comfortable or demonstrate how he might respond to her. These interactions raised serious concerns about communication, patience, and the individualized care being provided. I understand that some children require sedation or general anesthesia for dental treatment, and I am not suggesting that these options are never appropriate. My concern is that our family did not feel that reasonable alternatives were thoroughly explored or that my grandson's autism and individual needs were given the consideration they deserved. I am also disappointed with the communication and professionalism surrounding my attempt to address these concerns. I called requesting to speak with a supervisor about the conduct and bedside manner of a staff member. Instead of receiving the direct follow-up I expected, the dentist reportedly approached my daughter about the matter. My concern was about professional conduct and how families are treated, and I expected it to be addressed appropriately. A pediatric dental practice should be prepared to work with children who are anxious, fearful, or have special needs. Patience, respectful communication, and compassion should be fundamental parts of pediatric care. Not every child will sit quietly in a dental chair, and that should not mean their family feels dismissed or that their needs have not been fully considered. I also have concerns about the recommended hospital and the information available to our family regarding the risks of the proposed procedure. Parents and caregivers deserve clear explanations, an opportunity to ask questions, and a meaningful discussion of the risks, benefits, and appropriate alternatives before making such an important decision. I cannot speak to the intentions behind these interactions, but the overall experience has left our family questioning whether children with special needs are being treated with the patience and individualized attention they deserve at this practice. I would strongly encourage parents of autistic children and children with other special needs to ask detailed questions about treatment alternatives, behavioral accommodations, sedation recommendations, and referral options before proceeding. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend this practice to families seeking the compassionate, attentive care their children deserve.
