Letting my hair revert back to its naturally curly state has been tough. My hair was too long and basically all one length, but getting stringy and thin with the loss. I saw this salon when I googled "cutting curly hair," and made an appointment with Michelle. It was the ray of hope I needed. Michelle listened and clearly understood my predicament. She was empathic and asked me questions, and then explained the step-by-step process she'd take to make me feel like I looked normal again. What I received was not only a fantastic cut but a clear and complete tutorial on how to get my hair looking it's best. She showed me each product, the amount used, the goal of each step, and how to get the look on my own. Totally doable. I felt like a celebrity!! I cried. I left the salon looking and feeling better than I had in weeks! The stress of hair loss takes a real toll. But I know now I can look good with what I have, and pray my doctors figure out what's going on and bring it to a halt. Michelle, you are the hair fairy. Truly a miracle worker! Update: Couldn't make my schedule and Michelle's match up recently, so I went to see Taylor, who also did an awesome job with my hair. Sweetest girl, knowledgeable, talented. Still loving my hair. Best cuts ever!!

I got exactly the haircut I wanted and felt great after. The only kind of funny thing is the mirrors at each chair, they're not like a regular set up. Big tall mirrors are sort of angled against the wall so you will be seeing yourself at a strange angle. I'm sure it's for the design of the space rather than utility but had to share only because I was sincerely looking up my own nose most of the time while having my hair worked on. Make sure to go to the urban food broad across the street after your appointment

She's an experienced hairdresser, is Deva Curl trained, and has curly hair herself. On my first visit she was able to recreate a haircut from a picture I brought in, and it came out wonderfully (and she gave me styling tips). A subsequent visit after it grew out came out just as great. I highly recommend her. The salon itself is cute, modern, and clean. Haircut prices are very reasonable. Ample parking, since it's in the shopping center that borders the large parking lot at Old South and Hampton.

But after a stylist at the Aveda salon in Amherst gave me a pixie cut best described as "Suitable for the fraternal twin sister of Frankenstein's Monster," I left a message on their machine and wished for the best. Well wouldn't you know, wishes DO come true. They called me back, we set an appointment, and I've been getting consistently fabulous haircuts from Jen for almost a year now. Chameleon's is really the best of all worlds. You get attentive, precise, efficient, consistent, million-dollar service, but without any the pomp and pretentiousness of a high-end salon. And did I mention that their mirrors are impossibly clean? SO. CLEAN. I suspect they might actually be portals to other side of a blackhole. (Don't lean in too close.)

Caren is a lovely person; however, the last time I went there she decided to cut my baby hairs on the side of my face (I'm not white, so I tend to have quite obvious baby hairs) and honestly ever since then they have been a total nightmare to deal with; just 10 times worse. Never went back.

The salon is clean, tidy, and stocked with a variety of good-quality products that Caren neither under- nor over-uses. Caren actually cut my hair dry first (something no one has done before, but something I'll inquire about from now on) and only once she was mostly done washed, did a little tidying, dried, and VOILA: I have a haircut that settled perfectly day-of and, more importantly, has settled perfectly every day since. I'm low-fuss when it comes to my hair (I wash with a little shampoo and ton of conditioner, and maybe use little leave-in coconut oil before air-drying, but that's about it). Caren's cut works perfectly for my normal minimal-maintenance days, and frames my face more nicely on days when I play a bit. Best yet, Caren's cut cost half of what a comparable job in San Fran would cost! If only I could take her back to the Bay with me, I'd have Caren cut my hair forever.

I had an amazing, high-quality cut and style experience with Toriah!…read more The hair studio is super cute, clean, and comfortable. I have very sensitive hair, and Toriah took her time to understand my concerns and offer detailed solutions. I really appreciated the education she provided--she walked me through every step with a mirror and encouraged me to ask as many questions as I needed. Needless to say, I was thrilled with the results. It was truly a 'trendy before-and-after' moment for my hair. I'm so grateful for The Curl Bar!

I would give ten stars if I could. I never knew my hair would actually curl. I had what my Mother…read morejust described as "stringy" hair that would frizz to 2x its normal size with any precipitation. I have lived in buns most of my life. (I do work in a place that calls for contained hair.) Working from home for 1.5 years during the pandemic I left my hair down more. I noticed that it waved. I wondered if I saw a curl specialist if the person could get it to curl. I'd settle for "not frizzy." I also live with someone compromised, so I have been very cautious about indoor settings. I hadn't had a cut in 4 years ... I actually read and followed the directions of walking in with a wash and go - no bun, no hat. The stylists need to see your baseline. I looked like Medusa. I was a little mortified. And I had actually tried to tame it a little with curl cream. Toriah was so patient and kind. She did not judge at all. Taylor was also working on another client, and they both educated both of us (me moreso as a completely clueless curl novice) for 2 hours. I could tell Toriah was not only knowledgeable but also really interested in her craft. She said "I can't wait to see what your hair does!" I was SHOCKED by what she was able to get it to do. With a treatment, the right products, and the right drying technique, I had curls. Full curls. Not just waves. Curls. SHOCKED. Toriah is a wizard. She also made me a detailed list of products so I could replicate the look at home. And they weren't just the most expensive stuff. (I've researched.) They were the right balance for my hair. I am so grateful, and I only wish I hadn't waited so long to see her.
