It's difficult to say anything new that already hasn't been said in other reviews, but Daria was simply amazing throughout the entire process, and her attention to detail can easily be seen in the finished product. My fiance and I had planned out a trip from Amsterdam to Brussels and finally finish in Paris in which our last day was dedicated to the photo shoot. We had reached out to Daria through email months before our trip and although email communication was relatively sparse, she was very responsive via WhatsApp as the day neared. In some stroke of luck, a giant record-setting heat wave (~108F/42C) had just hit Paris the day prior to our photo shoot and the following morning was just perfect weather. This was my Fiance's and my first time getting professional photos done so we let Daria know, and she was very understanding and guided us throughout the entire process. Daria was very easy to talk to and knew how to take advantage of all the photo ops despite all the other competing photographers in the area. We were given a time frame of 4-8 weeks to have our photos fully processed and I believe it was just over that 4 week minimum when we received them; we weren't in any rush either. And back to the weather, just as we had missed the huge heat wave, it then started pouring later that evening so luck was definitely on our side that day. I was planning a surprise proposal to my girlfriend in Paris, and I reached out to Daria. She responded quickly, is very reasonably priced, and made it so easy planning my surprise proposal. I had asked her about recommended spots, and she sent me in great detail with screenshots of how to arrive at whichever location I ended up choosing and what to do once we arrived there to make sure we got the best proposal pictures. What a joy to work with Daria!! We recently came back from our babymoon in Paris - we wanted to take family pictures to document our special time in this special city. We found Daria's work on Instagram and Yelp and immediately fell in love with her aesthetics and style. She was warm, prompt, and always quick with her communication. UPDATE: Daria emailed me and made a few valid points. She pointed out that our photo session (and my proposal plans) would have still been possible if we were willing to wait for her to arrive. She also said that many people don't show up and she ends up wasting time and money showing up without clients. Finally, she felt the lighting would have still been good even with the later start. Daria does this for a living so I trust she had a plan for the lighting. Lastly, it seems my experience was an outlier. I don't want to damage a small business because of miscommunications. So I've updated my review to five stars; I still want to leave this review because it's factually accurate. But I don't want to ruin her five star average over a miscommunication. My advice to Daria would be to consider charging a deposit fee that would cover her time and expenses if her clients don't show. Daria's communications have always been professional and polite, even when responding to my original negative review. ORIGINAL POST: We scheduled with Daria months in advance. I was planning to use the photo shoot to propose to my partner. Daria and I coordinated our signals and how it would happen. I agreed to purchase the proposal package. So I was excited for the day. She asked us to email her when we landed. We did. She responded and told us to plan on meeting her at 7 AM several days later. We responded and confirmed we would be there. I'm not in the habit of checking email on vacation but I glanced at it the night before and saw she sent me an email confirming she would be there at 7 AM. We were with another couple who were also sent an email and told to arrive at seven. Neither email asked us to confirm again. This is not Daria's fault, but the night before our photo shoot, our upstairs Airbnb neighbor had a loud party and refused to keep the noise down. We didn't get to sleep until nearly 3 AM. We had to get up at 4:30 so we would all have a chance to glam up in time to catch the metro. So we got very little sleep to make it there on time. When we arrived at 7, we looked for her. When we didn't find her, we got out our phones to call her. We had missed messages because it was still early and two of us had "do not disturb" automatic schedules on our phones. Another had lost her phone at the airport. The messages said she wasn't going to leave her house until we confirmed again we were going to meet her. When we got in touch, it was already after sunrise and the best light was gone. She said she'd be on her way and it would take 40 minutes. We told her not to bother. At the end of the day, she confirmed she would see us in the morning and then didn't show up. If she needed additional confirmation, she should have established that before the morning we were suppose to meet. She also could have asked for confirmation in her emails the day before. My proposal plans unraveled, and we ended up tired and angry. She seems to have had positive reviews with other customers so my advice is make sure you're constantly confirming you'll be there when you already said you would be there if it's important to you that she shows up. read more
