I was disappointed & hadn't come back, until now... I've been going to the library to get my online grad school exams proctored by their staff for almost 6 months. I have never had another proctor make it so easy to schedule- two semesters now they have let me get all of my exams on their calendar from the start of my classes, enabling me to plan months in advance. It's a free service, which I really appreciate on top of the fact that everyone is always genuinely friendly & patient. It's pretty small but has your basic needs. Collections of books from all genres, audiobooks, DVDs, 12 public computers, fax/printing, WiFi & more. They offer a variety of programs, often for children, as well as a large meeting room open for reservation. It's impressive how clean the space always is, and how prompt & prepared the staff are when I go in for exams. Definitely a library worth appreciating... although I would argue that's something we should always do!

Lit on December 1st, 1875, the lighthouse has served as a beacon for safety for 150 years!! The view from the top is spectacular and absolutely worth the price of admission!

There…read moreare those big dunes blocking my ocean views, the water is rather cold for my bones and though I prefer not to be on crowded beaches being the only person within view makes beaching seem somewhat desolate. But in other ways I like Nags Head area. There is the pirate lore, especially as relates to Black Beard, the Hatteras and Bodie lighthouses, both worth seeing, and some rather good restaurants.

The best thing to do here for me is to try out the local restaurants and shop. I'm not a beach type of girl but going to the beach here is nice, clean and because it's so many beach area- relaxing. The locals are nice and welcoming, though I ran into a few rude ones but I'm not gonna charge their hearts. I can't get cell phone reception out here!!! How can I check In... Lol but overall, my experience here is always a good one.

Before heading to a brewery for a Yelp event, I headed here after work for some much needed quality…read moretime. That is reading of course. Turns out this was not my first time here. The last was over 10 years ago when I was with friends for a local convention. Things have definitely not changed here at all. Let's see how the afternoon turned out. Upon walking in, I noticed quilts on display via the African American Sewical Threaders Guild. They're done as part of Black History Month. They were fantastic and well made. I didn't get the chance to see all of them, but activities like this are very important to the community. They deserve a huge applause for this all around. For reading time, I headed upstairs where they had more tables if you wanted to do homework, use your laptop for assignments, or like myself, enjoying a mostly quiet environment in front of a book. Foot traffic was at a minimum the entire time I was present and it was mostly quiet. Could not ask for more. The next time I'm in the area, hopefully I'll stop by again. Truly a calm place to relax. What an amazing event for children and parents (grandparents) alike. It was the Fire and Ice event…read moreand everyone had a great time. Sometimes we take for granted the resources we have at our disposal. The library is one of those things. They offer so much to the community and 99% of the time it costs us nothing but a little enthusiasm and time. This event had to do with explaining magic through science. My granddaughter throughly enjoyed it and I would dare to say that all the other children did as well. The library puts out a monthly calendar of all the events they are hosting. I've enjoyed several myself. One of my favorite was a gardening class. They offer something for everyone. Great place to spend some quality time with your little ones.

The library is minutes from the mall minutes from a gas station minutes from a gym this is just perfect in my opinion. Very seldom do I use any other services other than the desk area to do independent work. Even though I do have a library membership in case I do decide to check out anything I just love being able to come and work in a neutral environment it's not super quiet in here especially if mothers or Guardians are with children but still it's nothing that's unbearable. The staff is super friendly always helpful. Every time I come in I'm greeted with a smile. The restrooms are always tidy! Upstairs and downstairs areas and handicap accessible. There are Stadium size rooms as well just an efficient building and location that holds a lot of events from graduations to seminars. But if you haven't been here definitely check them out. This past year, I've witnessed some graduates come and take their senior photos and evidently that's something that's allowed I've never seen anyone question them... Recently my wife and I attended an annual genealogy event dubbed "Moonlight Madness". It has been on hold the last three years with the pandemic. A sign up was required and I did not see it advertised. I accidentally ran across it. Unfortunately the event was poorly attended. However, the program was informative for a beginner and the staff was strong. The librarians are experts in the field of genealogy research. After the formal program which was held after library hours we had time to do our own research on provided computers with high speed internet. Staff was available to assist with specific genealogy databases. We were allowed free of charge to receive print offs. Hopefully next year when the event is sure to continue its advertised better for improved attendance. You do not need a program to begin your research into family history. The databases are free to use with a library card. As well there is assistance if needed. The City of Virginia Beach has wonderful resources for its residents at its libraries throughout the town. Look on their website for programing that your family may be interested in. Consider using VB Libraries if you do not already.

Let's see how this visit went. The library is on the smaller side compared to most of the libraries I've been to in Hampton Roads. They have two floors with the top mostly with computer tables. There are a few private rooms available if you have a group or if you prefer alone time away from folks. The decor is neat of course and the vibe is pretty quiet. From the side entrance, you run into some artwork. I'm not sure if they're from local artists, but they're really nice to view. Only though I was here for short times, this library has been a good place to rest. The next time I'm in the area, it'll be a go-to for me :)
