This is my go-to library, just because it is close to home and convenient. It has ample parking surrounding 3 sides of the building with 2 entrances. I really appreciate the children's area which has an ample selection of non-fiction, picture books and board books for kids. They have lots of free activities available to take home for your own children, which I love! There are plenty of upstairs computer stations with printing available. A couple of things of note: I have taken a CPR class here and was crammed into a room with 12 other people and practice dummies - not an ideal set up. They would do well with creating a separate entrance on the front for the large conference room, which was used recently for early voting. For 2 straight weekends, I tried to take my toddler and the number of people in the side, narrow hallway was (a) not Covid compliant and (b) a straight-up PITA to get past just to go to the library. They definitely need to do something to make this a comfortable voting location - or relocate it altogether. The staff is helpful when you can get their attention. And the staff in the children's room are incredibly friendly! I will continue to frequent this location as long as I'm living where I am.

I had some work to do and needed wifi in a quiet place. Greenbrier Library to the rescue. Plenty of parking outside and at least for the first two hours, the upstairs computer area was quiet. There are power outlets in the floor and the tables are comfortable. The wifi was free, fast and unfiltered. After the two hours, a bunch of kids and families arrived. Mostly quiet but not completely so. Enough that I decided that it was time for lunch. The shelves here are well loaded with fiction and non-fiction. Their computers worked well and I could see from the movie one of the other patrons was streaming, it's completely open.

Side entrance always has parking right upfront

Great resource for everyone regardless of age. Every employee I have dealt with at this library branch had always been very helpful and friendly. I love being able to reserve books online and they pull it for me and it is right by the door. I love Chesapeake library !

Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Even though this is a small library, it was so nice to interact with such friendly people.

They offer free classes for high school or college students needing to learn PowerPoint and other work or school related programs. Copy & printers available, private study rooms, computers, this little library seems to have it all. They have a dedicated children's area in a separate area that has plenty of learning activities, toys, books, DVDs & computers. You can rent several books and DVDs at a time which we take full advantage of. They offer free classes for all children ages at different times throughout the year- my toddler loved attending where they read stories and had fun learning activities. Register online for the free toddler classes. Bathrooms are clean and have baby changing stations. This month they will be having the "Teeny Tiny Farm's Baby Zoo" which we are excited to atrend !

I love to come here to work on schoolwork and to knock-out online things that need to be done in peace and quiet. One thing I will say is to be sure to call ahead and make sure they are open. Do not depend on the websites open and close hours. I arrived at 10:30am on Friday morning to a closed building even though they claim to be open 10am to 5pm on Fridays. Nevertheless, everything else about this place is great when it is open.

Usually libraries are freezing, but I was comfortable in my hoodie. I just think this location has an awkward parking lot. It's right smack in the middle of other businesses with only a few parking spots near the front. I didn't mind the walk, but I can see how it would be a pain during inclement of weather.

Ambiance: The place is nice and big, and its size is something that I did not expect when I see it from the outside. It provides plenty of seating area, tables to study/read, and the tables are prepared with plugs to be able to phones/laptops/anything that is being used by patrons coming in to this library. The library also offers plenty of computers for patrons to use, and a very nice printing area for those who need to print items. Above all, I come here often seeing many individuals use this place as a place to hang out, spend time, or even get away from situations that they are in. It provides a very safe and secure environment, and even more with an onsite security guard. They are open from 10a-8p most days, Fridays they close at 6p, and they are also open on Sundays from 1p-6p. Selection: The selection is small as compared to Chesapeake City Library, or other libraries in the Chesapeake area, but can also be considered as a pretty healthy selection of books, magazines, CDs/DVDs, and games. Service: The library does seem to be here for those in the community. They have a TV that advertises what is going on, and services they offer. I most especially like that they offer assistance with jobs for those who need it. They do advertise job fairs and have job postings available to make people aware of these opportunities. The customer service at the front desk is really great, very amicable, personable, and helpful. I am also amazed at the facial memory that some of them have that work behind the desk. They definitely seem to be here for the people. Food: Yes! There is a little cafe that serves food for those who come at a very cheap rate. Do not expect Starbucks kind of meals, but the sandwiches they prepare taste homemade and are a nice lunch to have. Usually, there is a weekly special/deal that they offer, which is usually a discounted rate of some items on their menu. The service is great as well! Very nice ladies (I have not been served by a gentleman, but there might be one working there), and they take great pride in what they do. Excellent service. I truly appreciate that this library is here for this community, and can sense that they are really here for their community.

Since they have various issues, they scream, run, argue, cry and have random outbursts that are unsettling and frightening. The "Shaniqua" who brings them there so she can surf the net or talk on the phone doesn't manage them so they disturb anyone trying to read or concentrate. If I acted like this, the library employees would be asking me to leave but hey never say anything to the attendants about the mentally disabled dependents that they bring to overrun the peace - and the rights of normal patrons - in the small library. I understand they can't control themselves - that is why they should be somewhere else if the Shaniquas that bring them are not going to control them.

The library is a little difficult to spot from the main street. So if you are traveling on Taylor Road it's in the cut a little ways pass the Sam's Club and just before you get to the light before the HWY 664. There are two entrances/exits for this location. It's also right next to the Treasurer's Office which is open during the week only. Parking is limited and usually fills up quickly on evenings and weekends. if you visit at night the parking lot it well let but still be extra careful. Like I mentioned above "it's in the cut" Besides the norm: books, magazines, videos and accessible computers, this library also post fliers of events going on in or around the area not just in Chesapeake. This location also hosts events for everyone of all ages. It's always a pleasant visit when my daughter and I visit here. The availability of materials we wish to check out are not always a win for us, but they have a "place on hold" policy and we receive alerts via emails when items are ready for pick up - this is a feature that I love. This library isn't super big, but it does the job and it's convenient for us. There is never a wait to check out items (self check out) or a wait for a computer station. Make sure you apply for a Chesapeake library card and if you are a Chesapeake resident - it's free and you can use the card at all Chesapeake Public Libraries. If it still applies, you will receive a credit card type card and a key chain library card. Conference rooms are available for renting as well - not sure if a fee applies, but the space usually holds up to 50 people or less. We like it here and will continue to visit - Have fun and enjoy life!

Pros- I love how quiet this place is and how fast and efficient the computers are. Internet here is never shoddy. Everyone that comes here comes here to study so you really get this studious feel. Minimal distractions. Really the spot for studying. Cons- parking. I don't have classes this semester on campus ! I take most of my classes online or in person at SECEP. This means I don't have a parking pass so guess what !!! I'm always having to bring tons of coins with me and when I'm spending an evening here .. I constantly have to walk out to the meters to put in more coins in and honestly .. it's a hike when you're under a time crunch. Also .. there isn't much metered parking to begin with ? Sometimes I come here (aka finals week) and there's only one metered spot left. Maybe next semester I'll just bite the bullet and buy a parking pass (it's over priced btw in my opinion) for the convenience especially because I really love going here to study but I really hate the parking situation.

For anyone planning on going to TCC and transferring to ODU in the VB area this is something to consider (keep reading). It's also affiliated with NSU, that's as far is I know since I'm not a student there. The classes in currently taking are distance learning and in person. Now that I'm attending ODU, I really learned to appreciate the Higher Ed Center. I commute to ODU's main campus out in Norfolk and it's such a hassle considering the fact that you have to go on the highway, pray you find a parking spot (parking in Norfolk sucks), and make it to class on time. During the winter times the circulation in my legs froze midway walking to the Perry...it's not fun. If you're always on the go, works full time, and wants to save money -attending classes here is your best bet. It's on the smaller side, two stories, they have a tiny ODU/NSU library with computers and tables, Wave Cafe that serves Filipino food, and you can get your parking pass here too ($124/one semester). They do have people that check your decal so beware! I learned my lesson the other day bc I thought I was being slick parking in a discreet area next to a tree. Walked out and saw that darn piece of paper on my windshield and my hard earned $15 bucks out of pocket.
