You know, stained glass crabs, smartly exposed prints under sandy piers, driftwood centerpieces, and an irresistible print of a few sandpipers in a rough wooden frame. The store itself was clean and well lit--not too crowded, not too sparse. The proprietor, Dee Isenhour, was willing to talk and talk up her artists; it was clear that she liked them as people and admired their offerings. When I got in, a young girl explained prices and procedures, $8 dollars for "studio time" for painting, and then the additional cost of the ceramic pottery. When I got my pieces and sat down, I was told I could only pick 5 colors from their selection for my decorative plate and 5 for my nephew for his piece, each additional color was another charge. I think it was .50-.75 per extra paint. Bogus. Whatever, my nephew and I painted. It ended up being about a $70 activity which was surprising because at Plaster Fun Time with $70 I could probably paint a quarter of the store. Just over priced. Especially asking people to pay for "studio time". This studio time should be included in the price of the pieces. You have to pay for the time, the pieces, the paint, I'm surprised they don't charge you for the brushes or water. I won't be coming here again :)

Do you want to enter the backrooms of Christmas stores? Come here then. From the outside, you think…read morethat you are in for just a small shop where you'll run in, grab an ornament, and be on your way for your beach vacay. Well buckle up, because you have no idea what you are in store for. I usually hit up the other Christmas shop in the area, but decided to give this one a try. We pulled in and should have opted for more time scheduled beforehand. Walking in I expected to have Christmas everywhere. I was not disappointed on this end. Christmas was everywhere, displayed in every single way possible. Sections set up by pop-culture icons. Those sections are well manicured and detailed. Then you start to roam, the sections start to mesh into one another. That is when you realize you have gone so far into the store that you don't remember where the front door is. But you don't really care as you start to discover that this place has so much more to offer than just Christmas. Some of it is evident as you notice that they have a snack shop, souvenirs, and wine tasting posted outside before you enter. But what you don't expect is that there are other holidays to explore here. Including the Halloween section that is, appropriately, downstairs. More maze like than you think could be possible here. Then you come into snack area. Everything in here is tempting. Especially the fudge. There area free samples to be had here, which is good, because I was interested but had no idea if I would like any of it. Very friendly staff here. Once you make your way back through the rooms and exit the front door you can explore more. Outside is a sitting section and there is restroom access.

Eric and Robert are so fun and friendly, very no-BS guys who tell it to you straight. They made the class super fun and we were always laughing. I came back the next day to pick up my mirror and was stunned at how beautiful it came out! Y'all got me into a new hobby! Thank you for such an awesome class!

I stumbled upon Absolutely Outer Banks a handful of years ago and I was impressed with the selection of locally made arts and crafts. Ever since, this is my go to spot for legitimate and tasteful Outer Banks souvenirs. In addition to locally made items they also have some vintage items and even some new items for sale. One item that this store specializes in is really cool resin windows that are unique and exude happiness. Absolutely Outer Banks has artwork in all mediums and in all price points. They have jewelry, wood signs, candles, prints, glass work, textiles, metal work, etc.  On my most recent visit I enjoyed looking at a vintage pin ball machine and eyeing up the beautiful array of Fiestaware. There is plenty of opportunity for ooohhhing and ahhhing.  The owner is super friendly so that adds to the overall great experience. Absolutely Outer Banks is centrally located in Kitty Hawk in the former spot of a bank.

It was so much fun, perfect for all levels of creativity/skill, and the instructor/owner was delightful. I changed my mind on my project shortly after beginning & asked if I could do a different design, offering to pay for the supplies I'd used. She was fabulous, gracious, & generous. Another aspect of her teaching style that I really appreciated was that she would help as much or as little as a student wanted. If we had done this craft earlier in the week, we all agreed that we would have gone back again, there were so many cool designs and it was so much fun. If I could give 10 stars I would.

You pick your shirt (i.e. t-shirt, tank, love sleeve, dress, onesie, etc.), put on some gloves, a smock and get to "dyin." The store sends you home with washing and care instructions. IMO, it is on the pricey side, but overall, our group had a good time and the girl there was friendly and helpful. Notes: Douse that fabric with the colors you want because we thought we soaked it, but all the adults still had lots of white shirt areas after we washed it. Sizes of the clothes run on the smaller side. I got an 18M onesie for my 10M son and it fit him perfectly (it was Gerber's brand). Hubs got a Large (Gildan brand) and doesn't love tight-fitting clothes, so he would've gotten an XL had he known. They don't have pastel colors. They have 3 patterns (only) of tie-dye pattern to choose from. This activity was under an hour for us (with kiddos), so it didn't "kill" a lot of time, but I imagine it might take more time if there was a group you are waiting on or taking your time tie-dying. You Can bring your own shirts/dresses/whatever, but dying it will cost $10 (more if it's a sweater or thicker fabric). You Can opt to buy a pre-tie-dyed merch, but that really takes the "fun" out of it.
