My mom told me I should try someplace else. I was really speculative, but decided why not? Roots was awesome! I thought I hated music but it was just the teacher. They helped me learn how to love music. It's now my passion and I don't know where I'd be without them. They also have 'boys only' classes. Most of the teachers, both male and female, are well experienced and young. The teachers have beautiful, sharp, funky, yet elegant choreography skills. The overall variety of programs for people of all ages is pretty remarkable. The front desk staff are very friendly & knowledgeable. The grounds are well maintained. The interior hallways & classrooms are clean and clutter free. Outdoor pool is popular! Several handicap spaces are available nearer to main entrance. Parking appears to be adequate but always very full. Entrance and exit is a single option off of Commonwealth Drive (cutting through to the adjacent elementary school is blocked off for safety reasons).

I set up a private rental for Chrome Bar and had an amazing time. The studio owner was beyond…read morepleasant, and I arrived to my private hours to see a yoga mat, stretching items, pole cleaner, and cleaner cloth already set out in the middle of the studio for me. She was even super helpful about the music and lights in the studio, providing me information about how to use both during my rental. She gave me privacy throughout the rental, but she was in the room next-door in case I needed anything. It's Tennessee, though, so it felt a little more humid than my usual home studios! Poles and floor are in great shape, and they easily swap with the quick-lock tech from X-Pole. Restroom was clean and easily accessible and stocked with band-aids and hair ties and other period products if needed. (I believe the restroom was up a stair, though, for accessibility purposes.) Parking lot is a little small and has seen better days; if you can choose between a compact car or a big-ass truck, your compact car will be able to better get back out of here. Great to see it has a private lot though. Beautiful, photogenic pole studio with a really friendly studio owner.

It is refreshing to have a studio where learning how to dance is emphasized as opposed to just…read morelearning a dance over and over to compete. Every child's progress and development is fostered. Your dancer will be inspired to do his/her personal best. All of the classes are considered important for any level a child is dancing at, and all dancers, whether on the company or not, receive the same training. We had noticed before that if you are in "recital classes" at many places that you learn very little and can only achieve significant training if you are on their company. Ballet and technique are emphasized. This studio has drop in classes as well. My daughter has progressed significantly in the past year, and she is doing things she would not have had the opportunity to do before. My son also takes some classes here to compliment his athletic endeavors and lay the foundation for dance for whatever he may choose to do in the future. Hard work, discipline and amazing teachers have made both of them more successful. Whether you are on the company or not, all are invited to attend the conventions in which we participate. The company does participate in competitions in order to have the opportunity to perform, but they are not mandatory. They also will work with individuals to clean up dances they may be doing elsewhere or to enhance their training. I am thankful that this studio opened and that we had the opportunity to be here.

There is truly no place like Barfield! I began my dance career there when I was nine years old. Not…read moreonly did they give me a lifelong love for dance but they encouraged me to pursue dance as a career path. The women that own, direct, and teach there work so hard to create opportunities for their dancers to learn and shine in a safe and healthy environment. Dancers there are not just another student but a member of the dance family. I formed many lasting friendships at Barfield and I truly would not be the person I am today without the guidance and support from the staff there! After teaching in FL for a few years I was ecstatic to be able to come back and rejoin them as a fellow staff member. Now my little sister dances there and I can't wait for my future kids to do so as well!
