Ruby has been going to daycare here for over 6 months and absolutely loves it. She also boards (and I feel strange calling it boarding) with Joel and his family -- in their home -- when I need to go out of town. Ruby knows the moment we turn onto 7th Ave that's she's going to City Tails and her tail starts wagging and she literally takes off, pulling me to Leroy street. From Ruby's excitement and my own interactions, it's clear that everyone that works at City Tails is incredibly friendly and truly cares about the dogs. Joel is also really flexible -- need to change your drop off / pick up time last minute? Need to head out of town last minute? Change of plans and don't need doggy day care that day? It's NEVER an issue!!! Oh, and Ruby always comes home exhausted! I honestly don't know what I would do without City Tails as part of Ruby's village!

My dog is always soo excited to go to that place and I feel comfortable knowing I'm leaving her in the best care! The dogs are well taken care of, always monitored and given a lot of attention throughout the day. 10/10 would recommend.

I'm writing this review months after the experience because I wanted to see whether the effects…read morewould resolve and unfortunately they haven't. When my puppy was around 4-5 months old, I brought her to the FiDi location for a nail trim. I explained that she was a puppy and I wanted to slowly get her accustomed to grooming and ease her into it. I explained she doesn't do well when wired and asked that she be allowed to play with the other puppies first so she could exhaust some energy. That request was dismissed by the groomer and he took her out of my hands and brought her far into the back grooming area, completely out of sight. He didn't respond to anything I said and the receptionist intervened explaining he'll try. When he took her back to the grooming room, I could not see her or communicate that I wanted the service to stop. While she was back there, I could hear her barking, and her cries were screeching. I assumed the groomer would stop if she was that distressed, but instead the nail trim proceeded. She was returned to me with a small scratch on her face, frantic and trying to hide. The actual groomer didn't even bother to discuss what happened. I was then told by the receptionist that she may be too "difficult to groom" and should probably only be groomed at home, which felt inappropriate given that the service had continued despite her visible distress. This experience was traumatic not only for my puppy, but for me as a new puppy owner. Watching a very young dog in clear distress, feeling unheard, and having no ability to intervene was extremely upsetting. What's important to note is that she is now regularly groomed elsewhere and does exceptionally well. At her current groomer, she is calm, cooperative, and often falls asleep on the table. She is clearly capable of being groomed gently and appropriately. However, since this experience, she continues to struggle specifically with having her paws touched, something she did not have an issue with beforehand. I'm sharing this not out of spite, but out of concern. If a puppy is this distressed, the service should stop , not be forced. I hope this feedback encourages better judgment and handling so other young dogs, and their owners, don't have to go through the same experience.

I'm very disappointed by Kitty in NY (the "agency" ), specifically their caregiver, Jody R., for…read morethe lack of accountability, negligence of care and poor communication. I would not recommend Jody or this service to anyone. For context, I was overseas visiting my family over the holidays and just picked up my Maine Coon. My cat's fur absolutely reeked of smoke. He's a long haired cat and upon return, was also severely matted. Two months prior, I had met Jody for an initial, in-person meet and greet to manage communication and care expectations for cat boarding. Detailed care and communication parameters were established in the onset, baked into the contract, signed by all parties so everyone was on the same page. There were no "mismatch" of communication or care expectations. Fast forward to today, not once was it disclosed that someone in her household smoked. I also gave Jody very specific care instructions, that my long haired cat had to be brushed everyday. Ultimately my cat came back in a state of severe discomfort from the pulling of the matting on his skin. Jody also did not provide clean, filtered water on a daily basis. I had to follow up with her multiple times, before she finally disclosed her filter wasn't working for days. To anyone reading this, how are these actions not negligent by the caregiver? Would you consider this a safe and risk-free environment when your cat comes home reeking of smoke? Isn't this / borderline animal abuse? It was also baked into our contract that Jody was suppose to provide daily updates, considering I was going to be overseas for 19 days. When I would ask her about how my cat is doing, she would basically tell me to "shut up" and stop sending her texts. Isn't she getting paid / part of her responsibility as a cat sitter to provide daily updates? I've also addressed these issues directly with John W. at the agency. John chalked it up with the "we are sorry" and doesn't do anything about it. I pressed him further on my concerns for my cat's wellbeing, so John finally offered to find a new caregiver. I made the ultimate decision to not move my cat to a new caregiver due to 1. how stressful it is for cats to acclimatize to another new environment and 2. the agency's track record doesn't give me any confidence to go through the whole vetting process again on providing a new, actually responsible caregiver. What if they're another Jody? and 3. I will take matters into my own hands and come back early to rescue my cat from negligence. All of my friends / family were also out of town over the holidays, so I couldn't ask them to look after my cat. All I wanted was to make sure my cat was in a safe and stable environment. This was not a "personal choice." In fact, I would be an irresponsible pet parent if I did nothing/ did not fly back early to rescue my cat from a negligent caregiver. End of the day, if Jody was actually a responsible caregiver, there would be no reason for me to return early. Kitty in NY failed to mention below that in the onset, they did not offer any reimbursements. I had to draw the boundary, walk them through the math / rationale before they finally agreed to submit the correct remittance. Reimbursement was certainly not a voluntary option offered by them as they made it seem. There were no detailed background checks done on Jody either, as the agency stated they would on their caregivers. For instance, Jody is currently not a social worker as outlined in the agency's profile of her. She's a full time dog walker. This was a red flag for me in the beginning so I asked John for referrals on Jody. He could only summon one referral, who gave one positive review on Jody. Where are the other proofs / reviews of Jody's "years of excellent service" and "positive client feedback" as the agency claims? If she is so good at her job, what does the agency have to hide? For anyone who engages Kitty in NY in the future, please beware that if you take the gamble and land yourself with someone negligent, I've given you a preview of what will happen and the agency's lack of accountability and transparency. Whoever lands Jody for future dog walking or cat sitting service, you have been warned to stay away. Who knows how she treats your pets behind closed doors....

With that being said, I'm VERY happy with paws & Recs and the care that they provide for my baby while I'm away. He's been a total of 3 times and I am happy when he's there. Here are the pros: - SUPER spacious!!! I loveeeee the amount of room that there is for the dogs to run and play all day long including the back yard area. - They do really nice things for the dogs such as pool days when the weather is super hot. - My baby always comes back in a great mood and exhausted! He gets so much exercise and mental stimulation during the day. - You can get updates on how your dig is doing during the day by reaching out to Jenny or checking their Instagram stories. This makes me so happy as they regularly update their daily activities. - Lots of treats and water for the dogs during the day. - Staff informs you of their day at pick up :) You can tell they really care about your dog. - They have extended care hours if requested for reasonable pricing. - Super organized with cubbies for your dogs belongings so no mix ups there I highly recommend and we'll be back!

What I love about Paws & Rec is that they pickup the dogs for a full two hours. Your dog gets experience walking with their "pack" and makes other doggy friends they'll see consistently. They get a ton of off leash time in one of the various dog runs in the area. On each walk, they'll sometimes visit up to 3 different parks. Jenny was very easy to work with and setup a meet and greet with Jeffrey (my 4month old Goldendoodle) and her son Christian. My walker, Stan, is SO professional and awesome. He updates his Instagram with photos and an insta story during every walk so you can see footage of your baby running around and playing. It's awesome! During Jeffrey's first walk, we had a mini crisis with a faulty apartment key (my fault). Jenny and Stan were super professional, and brought Jeffrey to a nearby Paws & Rec sitter's house until I could run from work to pick him up. I was so thankful Jeffrey was in safe hands! They didn't even charge me for all their extra effort. I really couldn't recommend Paws & Rec more. Super professional, reliable, and trustworthy. *They also offer full day field trips to doggy friendly destinations!
