I like going to Dante's Barber Shop. He gives me exactly what I ask for and he knows how I want my hair cut without asking. That's what I want in a barber. I have been going to him for some time now. I usually pop in when he's not busy or has one person in there and is just finishing up. If he is busy with a few people, I will ask him to call me on my cell phone when it is quieter and he does, for me. Then I walk back down to Dante's because I only live a few blocks away. He's a really nice guy. After some conversation about work and barbecued pork chops he's usually done and I feel brand new again. He doesn't dilly dally and he'll even trim my eyebrows. I'm glad Dante's is there and I won't go anywhere else unless I absolutely have to. read more

Donte is incredibly friendly, honest with his recommendations and clean. His hands are steady (that's mad huge). Prices reasonable, instruments are sterilized before & after use (you must pay attention to such things when it comes to barbers) and he spoke with much respect. I shall be returning-but not too much since I'm blessed with alopecia. He was sensitive to me about it and that alone spoke volumes about his character. read more

The barber is unprofessional. He can not use the scissors. The haircut turns out ugly. Maybe I shouldn't expect much for a $20 service.

I'm regretted now. I trust the yelp review and which was the biggest mistake ever. I dont know why everyone gave a 5 stars rating. Maybe i have a high standard or the barber shop quality going down hill or maybe just this one. I used to go to salon $36+tips = $45. They spend 35-40mins (shampoo+cut) and they take their time to cut my hair. It turn out Great, atleast i won't see any spot that look weird or uneven. In the past I did went to some barbershop $18+tips it still 15-20mins and they shampoo my hair too. Today i went to this Dante Barber shop. I Just got my hair done..30mins ago. I paid him $15 + $5tips. The hair cut took under 10mins (literally 5mins) no shampoo. Fine. All he did was use the buzzer to trim some of my hair and use the scissor cut my top for few seconds and use a shreds blade to shave my back for COUPLE seconds!! I got home and took a shower and dried my hair. I tried gel my hair with (clay - a type of gel paste) but the left/right top is uneven, Also my back of my hair is sticking out.. Maybe it is time for me to buy a hat/cap until my hair grow back! Update: i changed from 1Star to 3 Star , it wasn't a terrible haircut but i hope he can spend few mins to use a scissor/buzz to trim out some hair. read more

I have been having my hair cut since moving to Malden in 2015. Dante as well as barbers who were working there have cut my hair. I have always been happy with my cut. They have cut it the way I asked them to cut it. This last cut and beard trim were perfect. Dante is an honest, funny and sarcastic guy. He holds patrons accountable when they say stupid s**t things. Nice guy but the place is pretty dirty. With covid I expected much more cleaning . Only.cuts with clippers.. very loud ones. Uneven cuts .

The environment in Dante's is great. All the barbers who work there, especially Dante, are wonderful to talk with. Plus they all give quality haircuts and will not let you leave the chair until you are completely satisfied. Plus, Dante has stayed after hours to squeeze me in. Which I appreciate very much. Just took my 2-year old son in for his first professional haircut. Dante was extremely patient and did a great job on cutting his hair using both buzzers and scissors. The sideburns, neck area, and around the ears are neat and tidy, and the cut gave his very straight hair some movement. I take my 88 year old father here every time he comes to visit (every other month or so). Dante gives him a good cut, and trims eyebrows, and ear hair each time. All with a senior discount on an already reasonable price. Friendly, but does not force chat. read more

No appointments allowed...as this works for me. Just walk in a get a cut pretty quick. On the busy days there is a couple guys working and they all can do a quick cut. I would recommend this place $15 I think "It's a Sicilian message. It means Luca Brasi sleeps with the fishes. " read more

What a great place to get a haircut. The owner is a great guy who treats customers as friends, and gives an outstanding haircut.

I recommend not going to this place especially if you are an African American. I went there last week to get a lineup and I usually see Dante. These guys really don't know how to cut black guys hair correctly. they do a half job when it come to fades and lineups. I went in to get a quick lineup and the other guy that works there with Dante asked if I needed a cut I said that's fine I will wait on Dante, he than turned to Dante and said..."See I told you" Dante than said that the other guys is good! I than said to the guy can you do lineups good and the way he answered me he seem like he was unsure. so when I heard him said that and I was like with you saying that made me feel that I shouldn't try this guy out. so I decided to give this guy a shot and I got in his chair. I believe he went to the store, with me assuming he would give me a cut he than came back and told me to get up and that he didn't want to cut my hair. In my head I was like whats this guy's problem, its like he felt some type of way and got an attitude. I didn't say anything but than got up and had Dante give me a lineup. Even with the lineup from Dante it did not come out as fresh and sharp cut that I usually get. it looked like I really didn't get a good haircut. I felt Dante was rushing me out. Both of the Barbers in there only do special treatments for people they know which are usually white guys. Not really trying to make this a racist thing but I do notice how they treat people differently that they don't know especially people of color. I will not be returning there ever again! I am willing to find a place that is way more better and actually knows how to cut hair properly. read more

Was looking for a new barber and decided to try Dante's out. First time was alright but each time after he got lazier with the haircut to the point of not using scissors up top (really? you're going to use a trimmer?) and even telling me he did something when I know he didn't. Went a couple of times at the end of me going there where he seemed annoyed I wouldn't come back because there was a line and he was by himself. Don't want my business Dante? No problem.
