I was able to enjoy a nice scenery of unique décor throughout the building. It was an evening filled with amazing food, entrepreneurship, music and networking. I'm so happy that I was invited out to witness this influencing and motivating event. 1871 supports and has partnered up with minority and women owned food vendors across the Chicagoland area. I got to meet amazing local food vendors and sample some delicious food bites. Twisted Eggroll, Gayle's Best Ever, Amazing Edibles, Justice Of The Pies, Catering Out the Box, Dulcelandia, Ryuu Asian BBQ, Social Enjoyments and Amanecer Breakfast Tacos. The space is large and offers many opportunities for growing businesses. 1871 is Chicago's center for technology and entrepreneurship. They offer co-working spaces, special events, a community of start ups, corporations, and community partners. Workshops and in-depth courses to teach design, technology, and business skills, incubators and accelerators, also a great place to work, they are always on the cutting edge. SpotHero was an early tenant at 1871. They are responsible for the growth and mentoring of many new businesses. What a great place to help grow your business!

First, it says when booking that it will be two hours. The start time is 8:15. So I told my…read morebabysitter an end time based off of that. The day of the tour we get a text saying it will be three hours. That meant we had to scramble to see if our babysitter could stay at least an hour longer. Second, they put a green light on each kayak on each so it can be seen at night on the river (we did the fireworks tour). I am not exaggerating when I say half of the kayaks on the tour lights were out on the way to the fireworks. That made me feel unsafe and anxious. It also made it more difficult to figure out who our tour guides were because at least two tour guides' lights went out as well. Third, they directed us to "park" (not sure how else to put it) for the fireworks in a spot that the other kayak tour groups seemed to very clearly know was to be avoided because a giant boat was going to dock there. This resulted in our group being yelled at by another kayaking group that we should leave for our own safety because a boat was going to dock there. Then the boat was descending upon us and we had to play kayak-frogger across the river in a mad dash at the last minute while the giant boat honked and played sirens because we were in its way. Again, felt very unsafe. For a person looking for a a casual, fun kayaking experience, this whole thing was too stressful. Would not recommend. Other kayaking places we saw on the water seemed more organized and safety-conscious.

Whole process with them was on push base, go to certain doctor, do therapy at certain place, at the end I was offered same amount what insurance told me when on the phone with them. After several months going to negotions I was told by lawyers to accept it or to go to court what I declined. Over all bad experience and I would not recommend this group to anybody.

She seemed very friendly, so I was willing to attribute the lack of responsiveness to her being overwhelmed with YouSwoops. I told her about the criteria I was looking for in a date (specifically the age range I was not willing to date outside). She seemed very agreeable, although when I asked her for references, she was not able to provide any. Fast-forward to January 17th. It had been nearly 2 months since my first contact with her, and she said I was required to attend a group interview at a local restaurant before she could match me. I had to E-mail her several times to obtain the location of the interview. Then I took the night off of work and showed up at the interview, along with 2 other women. At the interview, she asked again, and I repeated my age criteria. To my surprise, she looked horrified and said there was no way she would be willing to match me with someone in the age range I was looking for (although it was a perfectly reasonable request). After the other two women left, she took me aside and told me privately that I have too much "masculine energy," and the only way she would be able to match me was if I started attending her dating classes (for an extra fee, of course). By now I was suspicious that this was a ploy to get more money, and so when she offered me refund through YouSwoop, I agreed. When I asked her in an E-mail later that night why she had wasted two months of my time instead of telling me at our initial conversation that she did not agree with my age criteria, she responded that she didn't think at the time that I had really meant what I had said! In summary: extremely unprofessional, poor communication skills, does not respond to E-mails in a timely manner, buys into offensive gender stereotypes (just because a woman is assertive & wears her hair short, that does not make her "masculine"), does not respect the wishes of her clients when it comes to things like ages of their matches, and then suspiciously tells you she can't match you unless you pay extra for her dating classes. (There was a happy ending, though: thanks to an online dating service, I am currently with a great guy who is in the age range I was looking for... and he does not think I have too much "masculine energy"!)

A charity swim this morning to benefit ALS on the Chicago River. Safety teams in kayaks paddled…read morealongside the swimmers, who were chosen for their open-water swimming experience, while lifeguards lined the Riverwalk to help swimmers who could not complete the course. Only 3 of the 263 swimmers didn't finish. It took some an hour to go a mile through the downtown loop with orange floats gliding across the river. It was funny to see them walking through downtown Chicago in robes with medals around their neck, what an accomplishment! The last time that Chicago sanctioned a group swim in the river was 1927, a tradition thwarted by the loads of industrial and human waste that were routinely dumped in the water. It has taken decades of cooperation between environmental groups and elected officials , including at least four mayors, to clean up the river. I understand there are now dozens of species of fish, eagles overhead & otters playing along the banks now.
