Ended up making a purchase. Family run business with a total of 4 separate stores on the same street; Two side by side under this business name which the owner Chantelle started in 1998 and two that her son and daughter run under their own business names just right down the street (I think named old fashioned). The two stores under this business name are divided by brand names. These original stores have a lot more inventory than the other two stores it seemed. Chantelle, aurora and the other lady (I forgot her name) were all very friendly and welcoming and answered all my questions. I was very satisfied with my purchase. Will definitely stop by again when I am in the area! Only thing that could have been better was the tote I purchased didn't have a big enough dust cover to cover it all the way. I didn't realize this until I opened up the sealed shopping bag. So, I wish I had checked it before leaving as it would have been nice to have a dust bag that covered the entire tote...

I arrived early one Saturday morning to offer an Hermès shawl for sale…read more The young woman at the reception desk told me it was by appointment only, which wasn't mentioned on their website. She called someone who didn't even bother to come and see the shawl because she supposedly had too many appointments. What a lack of courtesy and manners! A wasted trip. As it happened, I was wearing another Hermès shawl around my neck, the label of which had come undone. Since I wasn't far away, I walked to the Hermès store where I was received with class and where the seamstresses have restored the stitching on my shawl. Ladies at Valois Vintage, you have the products that people like me bring in to keep your business going, but you don't have the class of the high-end brands whose secondhand items you sell. I'll sell my shawl elsewhere.

I do have a few of their SLGs. This time, it's a shopping experience for my sister and she found her splurge gifts. Happy for her bc what's a Paris trip w/o gifts? lol The selection is amazing, but being the flagship... some small items were out of stock, especially new drops and in popular colors. You get better prices here in Paris than at home, the VAT will add to that saving. The service was amazing! I forgot his name but he was funny and charming. They will queue you up to the next sales associate and you just need to wait a few minutes, and get yourself a glass of sparkling water!

Store was busy so didn't mind waiting. Eventually the manager, Eury, came over and said I would be next. I thanked him and informed him I knew what I wanted and just needed to check out. A couple came in after us and suddenly we became next next. This obviously angered me. Apparently they're not interested in my business so I'll take it elsewhere. Guess the random couple who came in to try stuff on was more important than a guaranteed sale. When I asked Eury for his card he claimed not to have one. Not sure if this is the correct spelling of his name or not. I don't know if was dismissed for being an American, being dressed casually, or being black. Regardless it was not a good experience. Cela m'a évidemment énervé.

That said, I speak French so I was able to talk to the sales associates freely here and they were really helpful. All the big-time luxury designer labels are here; Jean-Paul Gaultier, Azzedine Alaia, Thierry Mugler, Vivienne Westwood, Antony Price, Claude Montana, Chanel, Hermes, Fendi, Dolce and Gabbana, Givenchy, Burberry, Celine, Balanciaga, Gianfranco Ferre, Versace, Paco Rabanne, Max Mara, Rick Owens, Helmut Lang and many, many others, and that's just the clothes. Shoes and purses also has an equally long list. The thing with vintage shopping and second-hand shopping , is that it is hit or miss. The secret to scoring a real find where you can check off right fit, right price, right item is dropping in often and since that's not possible for me, I really took my time to look through everything while I was here. I didn't find any tops, skirts or scarves that really tickled my fancy this time but when I went over across the street, to their outerwear store, I found a reversible wool/cashmere fall overcoat from Celine in fantastic condition, at a damn good price, I figured because it is reversible, it's basically two coats for the price of one. I'd have no hesitation whatsoever to come back here. Prices are not cheap but if you compare a Jean-Paul Gaultier coat straight off the runway (approx. 10 000 Euros), and here (approx. 900 Euros), you're still getting a deal.
