Fan is only 7 months old!

Dan's Fan City lied about the coverage of their products. Before I purchased five fans from them, I was told that the interior fans had a lifetime warranty and the exterior fans for thirty years. I questioned the salesman about the exterior fans, if they were powder coated or just painted, he informed me that they were powder coated. After six months they started to rust, I called Dan's Fan and Gulf Coast Fans, Inc. Gulf Coast Fans and Dan's Fan are one operation. Gulf Coast manufactures the fans and Dan's Fan retails them. After many conversations they sent me parts that needed to be assembled. First the existing fans (2) had to have parts removed and disassembled and then reassembled before reattachment to the main body of the fan units. Taking them down and putting them back up would require many, many hours. Dan's Fan store management stated to me that they will not do the work. This was for their defective product; I'm guessing that this will coast over $500.00 to complete. They are the manufacture; they can send them out from their factory already assembled. Then send over one employee to attach them to the fans, this would take at most 1 hour. If I cannot get this resolved, I will take them to small claims court! When you call first, they say he's busy and will call you back as soon as he is freed up. NO CALL Next is he's not in today. Do these stories sound familiar? Bad way to do business!! Peter

The Lamp Repair Store

The Lamp Repair Store

I don't even know where to begin with this. I'm a big supporter of small businesses and try to do…read morebusiness with them first. I drove 40 minutes to get to this place. I dropped my lamp off to be repaired and was told it would take "about a week". On the 8th day I hadn't heard anything so I called the store. Mind you when I dropped the lamp off for a simple wiring repair I was told it would be a little over 100 dollars which I thought was a lot of money, but the lamp had sentimental value so I agreed. There were lamps all over the store and I wasn't given a claim ticket or anything, I just walked out of the store thinking it was a small business and they would just remember me and my lamp without a claim ticket. My father owned a small business and he could remember every person he spoke to. After a week, I'd heard nothing so called the store, and I was asked to describe my lamp. I was caught a bit off guard by that but I described it as brass looking because it is. Now obviously there are a lot of brass colored lamps, and one would think an organized business person would assign claim tickets to items in order to keep track of them. The person I spoke to, I assume is the owner seemed to have no idea who I was or which lamp was mine, he put me on hold. He came back and advised that, after a week, my lamp was not done but that if I would call him by the end of the day he would have it done. I had advised I needed to travel for my job and I wanted this off my plate before I left town. I called later that day and was advised the lamp is done. The next morning I woke up an hour early to drive the 40 minutes to get the lamp. When I walked in, the lamp was sitting in the same place I'd left it 9 days earlier. I pointed at the lamp and said "I'm here to pick this up" and the man said "oh that's your lamp? It's not done. That lamp is more gold colored, you said yours was brass". If this man didn't have his head up his you-know-what, he would have a clue how to run a business. If you call their phone number, he doesn't answer with the name of the business, he just says "hello" and you have to ask if you've reached the lamp repair store. When I got there to pick up my unrepaired lamp, I found him out front smoking a cigarette. Classy. I left with my unrepaired lamp and the man could not have cared less that he wasted my time. So if you want to do business with moronic idiot who won't respect you, your business or your time, go for it.

Palmer Electric Company - Kitchen Lighting

Palmer Electric Company

10/10 stars for Palmer electric which I do not own. Our house power failed last night after weeks…read moreof flickering. We called another company who claimed to have emergency service at midnight and stayed up for hours awaiting a call back. Finally we went to sleep to awake at 7 am and call Palmer. A qualified technician called us in 30 minutes (at no charge) and told us to call Duke to confirm it wasn't their issue. Duke said within an hour it was house not them. Palmer was out within an hour thereafter with ample communication during that time. Come to find out the main line connected to our main service box had fried and could have actually caused a fire. Thankfully it didn't. Around the time (10 am) we had a prognosis from Palmer at a reasonable non-emergency rate the other company called us back but we already had a resolution. They would have charged us $250 for a service charge far above what Palmer charged. We found out from Duke that Palmer is one out of three preferred vendors and we were in good hands and many other companies would have charged a service call without ruling out them first. All this to say we are Palmer customers for life. I will also talk to Palmer about making their yelp say they have 24 hour service which deterred us from calling them first as yelp said they were closed versus the other company who obviously didn't really have emergency afterhours service.

Palmer just left our house at 1:15 pm. Our appointment was the 1st morning call at 8:00-8:30 a.m…read more They didn't call, test or email. When we called them, and "I'm sorry (the FL motto) was all we got. An hour later, the electrician appeared. Our electrician, Jean, was great. Friendly, professional and skilled. The company, however, knowing they were more than four hours late, had the temerity to charge for another 30 minutes ($90) because, while the work was done, my partner made the mistake of asing one final question which put us moments over their automated counter. This made an estimate call double in price. We plan to speak to a manager regarding this, but initial efforts fall on deaf ears. HARD PASS on a company that can so callously and unthinkingly treat the masses because they've been successful at it. We are a service provider hub here; we're happy to extol the virtues of those worthy of it, and we won't stop warning people away from poor service.
