We needed a bore hole filled in our front door and we were having difficulty finding someone who would be able to accomplish that. I contacted Dan and he said he could do it. He said his minimum charge was $150. I wasn't real happy with that, but we needed it done. Dan arrived on time and started working. I was wrong to assume that Dan would not only plug the bore, but fill the gaps, sand, and prep the door for painting. Dan put the plug in, secured it and was ready to leave. I asked him about filling the remaining gaps and he said he could caulk them. I figured he knew what he was doing, so I said ok. Then he told me to get household bonds to finish the gaps and prepare for paint. I was very disappointed in that he just left the job incomplete. When you charge $150, you should expect the door to be ready for paint, not the way he left it. read more

We called Dan again for an estimate on replacing the original interior doors that were not working too well. It turned out to be too costly, so instead we ended up having Dan change out the door handles and hinges on eight doors where the hinges were rusty, creaky, and painted over. Now they work like new at a fraction of the cost of new doors. Dan also adjusted some of the kitchen cabinet door hinges (old 1980's European hinges with multiple adjusting screws in it), and now they close flush. In all, about a couple of hours work. We have an office building and some of the suite exits have fire rated doors. After many years, the laminate on one of these doors came apart. The door then became very difficult to open or close. This was not a repairable situation, but rather required a new door. First we tried to just buy a door and have it installed. However, that was not practical given the unique door and expertise needed for the job. It became necessary to find the right person to locate and install such a mineral core one hour fire rated door. I recalled working with Dan several years before and then called him for this job. He worked with us to first evaluate after hours so as not to interfere with the tenants. Dan specially ordered the door, and scheduled the removal and reinstallation. His work is excellent and reasonably priced even though this door was quite expensive given its special rating. Yet what impressed us most was his pride in his door work.
