I got the admirals platter with bay scallops and clams

The food was excellent, great menu and super fresh seafood! Neat restaurant with live lobsters and outdoor seating

We stopped at this place because it looked like a great spot to grab some seafood. It had the look of a beach shack and had a cute outdoor covered porch area, which is where we sat. They had a fair amount of GF foods and the server told me I could get most things GF! That was so awesome to me! The server was super friendly and really a sweet person! I don't remember her name, but she had a red flower in her hair! The food rocked, atmosphere was exactly what we were looking for and the service was great! Highly recommend this little "hole-in-the-wall" mom and pop place!!!

Husband and I wanted seafood for dinner so we revisited Dan's in Crystal River. His seafood is so fresh and they give you such generous portions. No missing this place, love that Tiki Hut gazebo right smack in the front of the restaurant if you like outside dining. At night, it is all lit up with lights! What a great Florida vibe! When you enter, you see all kinds of Florida decor and a really cool fish tank. On one side of the restaurant, all wooden booths and a few tables, small bar with high top chairs for your consideration. Other side and in the back are tables and more wooden booths and a very large table for big groups. Got seated, our waitress was so pleasant and greeting. Placed our order, huge menu with great selections to choose from. Prices are much the going rate. Our food came to us in a timely fashion hot and made to order. I ordered the Colossal shrimp with dinner portion of onion rings. I love the red shrimp, I think they are sweeter. Delicious shrimp and cooked perfectly, batter excellent. The onion rings are the best bar non, sweet onions, great batter, melt in your mouth with great remoulade dipping sauce. I enjoyed my dinner very much. Husband ordered Cod fish and chips with coleslaw, generous portion and he enjoyed his dinner as well. I highly recommend Dan's Clam shack, he has a cult following and popular with the locals. A+ Debbie

Sue never disappoints or any of the others either....food served fresh and in a timely manner too...today I ordered the Colossal Blackened Shrimp with Pilaf and Cole Slaw ...delicious and plump and so flavorful...such a great menu with lots of choices as well....

Haddock fish & chips

I found myself in the mood for seafood and stop by Dan's clam stand for the first time. The staff promptly greeted me and, encouraged me to have a seat anywhere. Cady patiently answered a few questions and guided me to the haddock fish and chips. She explained that they hand bread their own onion rings for a nominal up charge. I substituted that instead of fries. It quickly arrived, and was piping hot. The huge portion of fish was perfectly battered and fried along with the onion rings. It also came with coleslaw and tartar sauce. Cady kindly brought me some more vinegar. The haddock was flaky and tender, and had great flavor, my only suggestion would be adding a little bit more salt to the batter. The onion rings were a definite upgrade and satisfied my craving. I was very surprised with a very tasty coleslaw. It was one of the best I've had lately. While Dan's lacks the waterfront views of its competitors in the area, it outshines them with a very extensive menu, great portions, and is budget friendly for the seafood lover.

Back porch feel with good home cooking! Awesome food a bit pricey for the atmosphere but worth it!

Our server, Grace, was fantastic--super friendly and constantly checking in on us, refilling waters and making sure everything was perfect. We ordered the four-person seafood boil, and wow--it did not disappoint. It comes with shrimp, mussels, corn, crab, potatoes, sausage, crawfish, onion, and garlic. There was a ton of food; we ate an unbelievable amount and still had leftovers, which says a lot considering I'm a 6'5" guy. The dark horse of the boil was honestly the onions. After soaking up all those Cajun juices, they were absolutely to die for. The wait can be a bit hefty, but they're pretty efficient, and it is 100% worth it. This place is an absolute must-visit if you're in the area

I'm thinking management must have changed because wow the staff has been better. We both ordered the same thing which we loved from our last trip 2 years ago, the Royal Red Alfredo. We get our dish and it is clearly not what we ordered last time but figure we haven't seen our waitress for 10 minutes and she never even checked on us. We had been out all day so we're starving. Oh, worth mentioning...it was my Birthday. Didnt even get a "Happy Birthday" after mentioning it to our waitress. My mother had to get a refill from the bar. The more we eat the more we realize this wasn't what we ordered, but rather the Shrimp Scampi variant. We call for the manager who argues with us over what an Alfredo sauce is which clearly it is not...he swears it is and that it has separated into God knows what as all we see is a soppy mess of butter and garlic. I show him a picture from Yelp of another customer's Alfredo from the restaurant we are CURRENTLY sitting in and told this is an old picture...We both realize we're getting gaslit as we know what an alfredo sauce is and had the exact dish so we know what it looks like. We agreed that we ate the food and will pay the price for the scampi dish they served us which is $2 cheaper than what we actually ordered. They refused to lower the bill so we left and paid without tipping. I've never had an experience quite like this where the manager will not even work with you. Not even an apology...we will never be back here again. You can judge for yourself if that looks like Alfredo to you. If you want straight seafood, this place might be alright, but the service we received was absolutely terrible.

Its snowbird season and literally all but one table at 5pm was packed in. Our sear was a high top next to the walk way, which gave us plenty of people watching, food smelling and conversation. We were not expecting the live music, but it was nice on a week day evening to sit outside and enjoy the fresh air. The food we had, the southwest eggrolls, grouper nuggets and the grouper sandwich. We asked for our fries to be extra crispy and they were perfect. The nuggets were slightly over cooked, but they were really nice. I specifically enjoyed the flavours of the egg rolls. It was really busy, so instead of staying to enjoy the music, we decided to let a couple of ladies have our table as soon and the check was paid. A really nice place to come and enjoy Florida before the summer's heat and humidity encroaches.

The building nearby is currently under construction, but surely the location would be much more welcoming once the construction is complete. We ordered the smoked fish dip to share, and I had the fish and chips. The smoked fish dip came with round crackers. I liked that it had a hint of smoky flavor without being overpowering. I'm always a fan of fish and chips, and the portion was generous! The only downside was that the fries were placed under the fish, so by the time I got to them they were a bit greasy and soggy. The view is truly a great selling point -- we spotted birds, fish, and what we believe were dolphins!

It's all the same food both places. Everything we ordered you had a choice of fried, blackened, or grilled Our server came back three times to see if everything was good was very attentive and everybody there seemed to work like a team, which makes it nice. .Our total bill came to $69. If we would've used cash, we would've saved three dollars. They also have a gift shop with a bunch of different shirts and Stuffed manatees. You also can book to take a cruise right there out on the bay or to go swimming with the manatees. There is also an attached hotel in boat docks. We will definitely be back there!!!

Our waitress was super sweet and explained the different seafood boil flavors really well! I also enjoyed the live music they had. I tried the Lobster Mac and Cheese ($21) which looked nothing like the picture online (LOL) and came out a bit too crispy on top for my liking. It made the sauce dry out a lot. However, it was packed with lobster which was awesome! I also tried the Boil with 1 lb of Snow Crab (MP) and 1/2 lb of Shrimp. We got the flavor with butter and old bay, I forget what they called it. The boil was good but not great - the shrimp was super tough, and I wish there was more flavor all around. My friend's boil also came out cold and after sending it back to be reheated, it was still barely warm. Overall, it was an expensive dinner and I was glad I tried it but unsure that I'll be back.

It was one of her first nights alone, and though she made some errors, we have faith that she'll be fine with time under her belt. We ordered fried Mushrooms and the Ahi nachos, we were not upset by these appetizers, they were delicious, and their ranch dressing is amazing We ordered a Shrimp platter and a Shrimp noul with the spicy butter sauce. There was a LOT of red pepper, but the hubby said it was tasty, byt he kind of expected the butter to be melted vs still chunky. The shrimp i ate,( lightly fried with Onion Rings and a side salad) were HUGE. I mean plump and Juicy. We did find out that they import their scallops from Japan, while being located in a scalloper's area. They were good, but still, eat local when you can.
