The truck is usually parked on Ocean by 11 am. Authentic street tacos DF style. I tried the al pastor, carnitas, and camaron (shrimp). Al pastor - damn good Carnitas - a bit dry, but tasty Camaron - hella good Washed it all down with a Mexican Coke. I walked away stuffed and $10 lighter.

We ordered the nacho plate. My date asked for less cheese but I think she misunderstood and squirted tons of cheese on the nachos. Not enough meat and to much cheese and the chips were a bit stale. It was alright. Nothing to brag about. Won't be eating from this taco truck again.

Nice big tacos, decent sauce, tortillas on point. Free Coco water upgrades are not happening.

I live walking distance from the Victorian so I've been frequenting the Tuesday night food trucks…read morepretty regularly. There's different trucks there every week so you never know who's gonna be there from week to week. Usually a good mix of burgers, tacos, sandwiches, Indian food, BBQ, deep fried goodness, and there's always at least 1 desert truck (gelato, cupcakes, hawaiian shaved ice, etc...) My ONLY complaint is why are there never any Vegan Food Trucks there? I know they exist, but they never come to Santa Monica. It would be great to see them there occasionally. If you have kids, come early and let them run around the lawn area with other kids. After about 8pm it's mostly an adults only crowd. Enjoy!

Although the facebook page is relatively accurate in listing which trucks will be present, you may be surprised by what trucks are actually there. The variety is nice with a mix of American and ethnic cuisines, street food and entrees, cheap to moderately expensive offerings and dinner and dessert. The parking is either street parking or the adjacent lot for $6. There is seating on the grass nearby or at The Victorian restaurant next door. The lot is small and a little crowded with the trucks, the lines and people walking through. There are also a couple of vendors selling jewelry and trinkets. Drinks are sold at a makeshift bar or at The Victorian. It's a nice event where you can try food from several trucks without having to deal with massive crowds and traffic. While I enjoyed it, my suggestion would be that the folks who operate the Santa Monica food truck lot hire some live entertainment. That would make for an awesome event. https://www.facebook.com/smfoodtrucklot

I definitely cut this burrito some slack because it's more or less sweeten bulgogi meat combined with a korean salad, rolled into a burrito. As long as that's what your expectations are, this for the most part, hits the spot. I've read some commentary regarding the saucing, and I honestly think their expectations is unrealistic. I'd be appalled if my bulgogi meat didn't taste of sauce, it's a critical element of bulgogi. It's like churros without sugar or cinnamon. I find this burrito is pretty tasty, light and refreshing. It tastes as described above. It taste nothing like a carne asada burrito, but I'd say, there are days you crave pure carne asada savory with a possible habanero kick, and there are other days you might crave a bulgogi burrito, some days you might even crave a salad. That being said, they should probably rename this burrito from "beef burrito" to "bulgogi burrito" to better align patron's expectations, because if I was expecting a "beef" burrito, I'd typically expect carne asada.

Ordered the spicy pork and beef bulgogi quesadillas…read more Food came out within 10 mins, tortillas were fresh and toasted, meat was juicy and flavorful, and the cheese melted nicely. It came out to $20 plus tax which is extremely reasonable for the area and for how loaded the quesadillas were with meat. All in all, I give this truck 5 stars! They must have improved their quality since some of these older reviews.

Lovebird serves an expensive but worth-every-morsel fried chicken sandwich…read more I came here as part of Venice Beach's First Fridays food truck gathering. Lovebird should be your priority if you only have the stomach/wallet for one thing. But if you come in a group, you can split a sandwich and save (this is what we did). The sandwiches aren't cheap, coming in at $10.50 for a regular and $12.50 for the spicy one. But it is that good. This is going to redefine your fried chicken sandwich expectations. The meat is thick, tender, and incredibly moist, with a generous crunchy breading. The bun mainly serves to just hold everything together. I can't even remember what the toppings were because the chicken just blew my mind that much. I'm not sure where they usually are, but if you can find them, I highly recommend making a visit (or two!).

I gotta say, the fella working was incredibly friendly and seemed bubbly & nice. We put in our order and it took awhile, but such is life with a food truck. Especially at a huge fest. Let me tell you, that chicken came out hot as heck, right out the fryer. My friend and I split their Tenders & Fries combo and were quite pleased. As forementioned, the chicken was nice & crunchy on the outside but plump & flavorful on the inside. What else could you ask for with a couple of sliced pickles on top!? Their shoestring fries were great, no issues there and we tried them with their ranch & herb mayo. I think the herb mayo would be excellent on a chicken sandwich but as a dipping sauce, just needed a little extra oomph. I'd try their ancho chili mayo on my next stop in to spice things up a bit. And there will def be a next time! Love Love Bird!

Finding a late night taco truck in Los Angeles isn't as difficult as you might think. But finding…read moreone that is tasty, affordable, and hits all the high notes can be a bit trickier. Which takes me to the West LA/Sawtelle neighborhood where I had the chance in trying out "El Paladar Oaxaqueno Taco Truck". Located directly on Santa Monica Blvd and just west of the 405 freeway, this popular mobile food truck has been around since the mid-2000's. And if you're looking for something that operates in the wee hours of the night, they are opened for business 7 days a week from 6:30am-3:00am. I arrived here a little after 8:20pm as I was looking for a meal to hold me through the night. As for the parking, it can be a bit challenging but I was able to find something just around the block. This truck is highly visible from Santa Monica Blvd and not hard to miss. As far as the ordering process goes, this place also offers food delivery (as of 2024) to all the major apps; DoorDash, Uber Eats, and Postmates. But I am someone that enjoys going to place as well as conversing with the employees/staff. Since there was no line during my visit, I walked right up and told the gentleman I would like three Carne Asada tacos (toppings on the side) and one Carne Asada burrito with no rice. Total price came out to around $24 which is quite a bit higher than the trucks in East LA/South Central LA. After making the 20 minute drive back to my hotel room, the tacos and burrito are still piping hot. As far as the flavor, these definitely have that distinctive LA "flavor" as this was seasoned very well and a very unique and acquired taste that you can't find in cities such as San Francisco, San Jose, and Sacramento. Their menu is as extensive as you'd expect as they carry several proteins; Asada, Pastor, Pollo, Chorizo, Cabeza, Lengua, and many more. And as for the selection goes, you have your choice of tacos, burritos, quesadillas, tortas, tlayudas, tostadas, mulitas, enfrijoladas, nachos, and salads. And finally the Mexican refreshments that include Coca-Cola, horchata, aguas frescas, and much more. The pros of "El Paladar Oaxaqueno Taco Truck" are arguably the amazing flavor that these things pack into them as well as a great location that is easily accessible. The cons were the very high prices (I believe my Asada burrito was around $15) and the salsas were just too watered down. Overall not a bad meal but I've had way better, especially in the Los Angeles area. When you factor in great service, above average food, but mediocre prices, I will have to rate this place 4-stars. But they are open until 3:00am so a night out of drinking at the bar/club and your opinion might change.
