    Chicken sandwich, fries
    Julia G.

Really enjoyed my Love Bird chicken sandwich. The chicken was cooked perfectly and I loved the pickles and sauce. A very tasty meal, but pretty pricey for $19 with fries. The fries reminded me of McDonald's fries (which I am a fan of on a good day) but were a bit too soggy for me. The service was incredibly fast and I liked ordering on the iPad outside of the truck. Not sure if these are their normal prices or if they increased for the Street Food Cinema event. Would get again and try the spicy option next time since this was plain.

Fried chicken food truck. Tried this during the Yuletide Streetfood Cinema at Heritage Square for dinner. Got the firebird, which was their spicy chicken sandwich. It didn't have any heat, but it did have a generous amount of sauce. Fries are extra unless you get the tenders. Credit cards accepted. They post their schedule on IG. My one gripe was that a water bottle was $5 when I could've gotten one from the Streetfood Cinema bar or the Heritage Museum store for $2, but otherwise, it was a filling sandwich. The employees were nice and the food came out quickly.

Lovebird serves an expensive but worth-every-morsel fried chicken sandwich. I came here as part of Venice Beach's First Fridays food truck gathering. Lovebird should be your priority if you only have the stomach/wallet for one thing. But if you come in a group, you can split a sandwich and save (this is what we did). The sandwiches aren't cheap, coming in at $10.50 for a regular and $12.50 for the spicy one. But it is that good. This is going to redefine your fried chicken sandwich expectations. The meat is thick, tender, and incredibly moist, with a generous crunchy breading. The bun mainly serves to just hold everything together. I can't even remember what the toppings were because the chicken just blew my mind that much. I'm not sure where they usually are, but if you can find them, I highly recommend making a visit (or two!).

Average fried chicken sandwich spot. I liked that it was juicy, crispy and freshly fried but my Firebird with ghost pepper spice didn't even register on my heat scale. In fact I thought it was remarkably milder. I did see some sliced jalapeno in the slaw but again it didn't seem to pack much heat. Also there were a few stringy bits in the chicken that could have been trimmed before frying. Slaw was good and the sauce was only lightly spread on the bun.

LA food truck serving up super delicious chicken sandwiches. If you like spice get the Fire Bird! Super flavorful with a lovely heat and well balanced with slaw and pickles. What I like most about Love Bird is that their sandwiches aren't overly greasy too. Just super juicy and tasty! Check out their IG for their schedule!

We tried out this beauty while parked at the Monkish Brewery. We asked for it to be not spicy for my kid, and it was still so full of that Nashville flavor! The jalapeño slaw I probably could have eaten a much bigger bucket of ha. The homemade sauces, especially the ranch, were very special. When pulling apart the tender you could see how beautiful the cut of that chicken breast was too, I wish I took a picture of it because it was perfectly moist (I know but there is no better word ha). Paired excellence with the beers!

Mmmm lovebird makes a solid chicken sandwich. My chicken was well cooked and the flavor was there. I love when my fried chicken is well breaded and juicy on the inside. Also really loving the butter milk batter. The herb mayo with the grilled bun just makes for a really satisfying bite each time 9.5/10. The broccoli slaw is pretty good too . It reminds me of Joan's broccoli madness from soup plantation minus the sweetness 7/10. For a food truck these guys really nailed it with the fried chicken . Muy bien :)

I was not planning on eating at a food truck today but alas, long meetings and deadlines at work made the food truck outside my office the only option today. Lucky for me it was Love Bird. Immediately my mind goes to Howlin Ray's which I love and have yet to find anything close. It really isn't fair. I haven't even ordered and I am holding it to a higher standard. The menu is pretty straight forward. They serve fried chicken sandwiches. Priced from 9.75-15.50 for a pickles only customer to the Westside bird which includes bacon, avocado spread, and other fancy touches. I settled on the Fire Bird. Their spicy chicken sandwich with jalapeno slaw. The guy in the truck said it was a 6 of 10 on the heat scale. No up sale on fries or drinks. Just what I asked for. It took just over 5 min to make my sandwich and they served 3 others in that time. Guy was pleasant and I was excited to get back to my desk and try it out. The Fire Bird just looked good. Wrapped nicely so I could bite in and keep it together. The slaw complements the chicken perfectly and adds a little zing to the heat with the jalapeno slices. The brioche bun was fabulous. Tasty, paired well and held up throughout eating it. The chicken was moist and juicy. Not as large as Howling Ray's but the cook was perfect with a nice crunch to the light batter. The heat, its subtle, tasty... dancing with you with every bite. About half way through I started sweating. Not an I'm miserable sweat. Instead, it was wow, where did that kick come from but I dont wanna stop eating. I felt like I was saying wow with every bite, not sure if was the mounting heat or increase in flavor. I'm shook, I wasnt expecting it to be that good. Is it Howlings... no, no one is. But it's the next best Fried Chicken sandwich I've had and it really stands on it's own. I was told they have an off menu version that's a 8 out of 10 on heat. If you see this truck, stop and try it. I will definitely be going again.

    Fire Bird "spicy" sandwich!

I was at the food truck festival in Venice for the first time ever and there were so many trucks to choose from! I decided to give this one a try because it looked like a cross between Howlin Rays and Chick Fil A! So I went all our and ordered the Fire Bird. My sandwich came and I took the first bite. It was good but not great. For having a ghost pepper sauce on the chicken, it was somewhat spicy but not too spicy. I can see how this sandwich can be appealing to people because of the thickness of the breast and the juiciness. My expectations were a bit higher but I was satisfied. The sandwich was definitely a three but maybe because I had set my standards too high. I would eat it again but I would know what to expect next time.

    Farm bird $12.59

Got the Farm Bird when this truck was at my work for lunch. $12.59 is quite pricey for a chicken sandwich that's on the smaller end and doesn't come with any sides, even for a food truck. The Farm Bird comes with lettuce, pickles, and tomatoes, which all tasted fresh. I liked that it wasn't super greasy and the buns held together well. The chicken was crispy on the outside and really juicy on the inside. I may get it again if it happened to be close by and I was majorly craving a chicken sandwich.

I had the chance to taste the delicious chicken from Love Bird at The Great American Foodie Fest in Las Vegas. Yum! A fried chicken breast sandwich is the base to all of the items on the menu. They offer a couple of options for toppings including a Fire Bird with ghost peppers for those that love hot food. For the side they offer fries and a couple of types of slaw. The Farm Bird had all the makings of a great chicken sandwich. The fried chicken breast had quality meat with a light breading that was well flavored. The brioche bun was delicious and didn't fall apart to the other ingredients. The other toppings were enough to flavor the sandwich without taking over the delicious chicken. I also liked that it wasn't overly messy so all of the flavors could be enjoyed together until the end.

April 2018: The Firebird ($10.50) aka ghost pepper fried chicken sandwich
    Courtney L.

My boyfriend and I were craving some fried chicken and luckily ran into Love Bird's food truck at First Fridays in Venice! (For those of you not from the west LA area, Abbot Kinney Blvd in Venice is host to a plethora of food trucks every first Friday of the month.) We decided to get the Firebird ($10.50), which was described as a spicy fried chicken sandwich with ghost pepper aioli, coleslaw, pickles, and jalapenos. We both love spicy food and have a relatively high heat tolerance, so we were a bit worried when the cashier said that the ghost pepper made it pretty hot. After one bite, we both concluded that the Firebird was definitely MILD spicy. Overall, it was a good sandwich -- the chicken was big and juicy, and it paired well with the crunch of the coleslaw and pickles. The actual taste of the coleslaw didn't stand out to me though. In the end, we both agreed that we've had better spicy fried chicken sandwiches.

I regret to report that Love Bird did not live up to its hype. I ordered the Farm Bird and seasoned fries. It was $16.80 before tip. A bit expensive but whatever, its West LA. The first bite was good - batter, crispy and chicken, moist. Only bummer was that they use dark meat instead of white meat and I was fairly disappointed, but I decided to continue with the meal. This was a mistake... Third bite in, I realized why the chicken was moist - it was undercooked and there were chunks of fat(see uploaded photos). I hope I don't become sick in the next few hours. Food was thrown out and money wasted. I was only left with the a rumbling tummy. Needless to say, I will not be a returning patron.

When I came in, the place was empty, except for the man at the counter who was very welcoming and friendly. The decorations are minimal, giving the vibe of a very low key hole in the wall. I ordered a glass of jamaica and their pipian de pollo, based on recommendations from other reviews. The jamaica came out quickly, and it was lightly floral and not too sweet. Next came out a little basket of tortilla chips with some pico de gallo. The tortilla chips were hot and freshly fried, with a thick and satisfying crunch. The pico was good enough to add a bit of brightness and freshness to the chips. Finally the pepian de pollo came out, a large platter of chicken stew with a drumstick and a thigh, some potatoes, a mound of rice and a heap of mac and cheese. The stew had a nice deep, rich flavor that really evoked that feeling of comfort of food made with love. The chicken and potatoes soaked up the flavor beautifully, and scooping all that with some rice into a fresh, homemade tortilla made for a lovely experience. The mac and cheese was a bit bland, but everything else was wonderful. Overall, had a lovely time with great food and friendly service. If you're looking for a very low key mom and pop shop with food made with love, definitely recommend checking this place out!
