They make getting your taxes done a little less painful. This is a family owned business that Mr. & Mrs. Travis run. If you decide to go, you will have to call and make and appointment. They don't take walk-in. I find the earlier in the year the better. If you wait till April, you may not get an appointment before the 15th. I like that they go over your taxes with you, explaining the mistakes you may be making on your taxes. Also love how they keep up with all the changes in the tax laws that are happening today. They are located on Germantown Ave. , in the Mt. Airy section of the city. There is only street parking, but I never had a problem finding a parking space. I feel their fees are competitively fair. Being a homeowner, I was leary of the task and figured professional was the way to go. Those chain places scare me. H&R block should be shut down, they prey on people. Anyhoo, I was delightfully surprised at how professional and effecient the Travis' were. No shaddy questions, straight to the point, they explain everything. Pricing reasonable enough. Definitely not the $300 the chain places will charge you. Mind you, I only have one federal and state return to file. I have since learned they are a family business, which is nice, the personal touch of business is a thing of the past, but it is so necessary. I have been going to the Travis' every since and I am pleased. It is relieving to know that I will not be audited or risk jail time for the sake of a dime.

I was having a hard time managing my own bookkeeping and was inquiring about this service. I met with Tara and she was condescending, defensive, and was gaslighting me when I started crying on the call after she went on a diatribe about the importance of bookkeeping. I also disagreed with her statement that "Bookkeeping is the backbone of your business." Unfortunately, Rose was also on the call and there wasn't any intervention. We found out that the business taxes were processed incorrectly reflecting 2016 as breaking even. We are now faced with having to obtain a non-fixed rate mortgage in order to buy our dream home. Funny thing is we tried to contact Jackie for months to file our 2017 taxes last year, but she never returned our calls or messages through mutual friends. That probably saved us because we would have been in worse shape having to explain to the bank for multiple years of how can the business reflect profit less and proving credit worthiness. Beware, just because you get a return or don't owe the IRS doesn't mean everything was done right. You might be better off doing your own taxes or hire a CPA.
