I took five teenagers to Dank Burrito in Morehead City before an escape room adventure, and it turned out to be one of the best meals of our trip. We were looking for something quick, but the menu looked so good that we couldn't wait to try it. Thankfully, it lived up to the hype! The gentleman at the register was incredibly kind and patient as we asked questions and figured out what everyone wanted. Our group ordered a variety of items, including mahi tacos, burritos, fries, queso, chips, guacamole, and pico. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. The fries were honestly some of the best I've ever had, and the chips were perfectly seasoned. For dessert, I purchased a platter of their homemade Rice Krispie treats, and they were the perfect sweet ending to a fantastic meal. The restaurant was very clean, and I loved the flexibility of the menu. Being able to turn almost anything into a burrito, bowl, or taco made it easy for everyone in our group to find something they loved. Great food, great service, and a great atmosphere. Here's the thing, I had the thanksgiving burrito. Had I stopped at just the thanksgiving burrito I would have found a way to give this restaurant 5.5 stars. I would never tell my family, but next year i might just buy these burritos and unwrap them and serve the turkey and dressing. that great tasting filling coupled with a crispy outside and drizzled with gravy and cranberry sauce, you an bet I will be using my leftovers tis weekend to make a burrito. I also had the honey truffle buffalo fried shrimp burrito. Here's the other thing. There just was not enough shrimp in the burrito. The bites with shrimp were indeed dank, but there just wasn't enough shrimp to enjoy. Also, i admit it was hard to follow the danksgiving burrito. They almost set their own bar too high. When it has 3 spicy flames next to the menu it means spicy, seriously spicy. My daughter and I got the carne asada. She got a burritos and I got the tacos and woo wee. She was running back and forth to fill up her cup of water. Delicious, but we like spice. We really like the art and color on the mural's outside and the tables. A nice place to eat outside too. One nice touch is the hooks under the table to hang a purse while you eat. It's cool to see an old Wendy's get a new life and a fresh vibe. The service was fast and friendly. Let me start by saying that usually the four of us can rarely agree on a single place to eat out while on vacation which is why what happened here is so rare. The rare part is that we actually came back a 2nd time during our week in Atlantic Beach! During our visits the last week of July they were really busy each time with locals and tourists alike which to me is a good sign that you've found somewhere good. Head up to the register, place your order then they find you and bring it to your table. Even with being as busy as they were, the wait for the food to hit the table was minimal. I also have to give a big time shout out to the guy at the register who on our first visit pegged us as newbies and was beyond patient with us as he explained a few of the menu choices and heat levels. Note that the menu has little flame signs next to each item that gives you a ballpark as to how hot certain things are supposed to be. I question how reliable they are because what I ordered (Carne Asada Bowl) was a three out of four and it honestly wasn't too bad. One nice touch that you don't get at most places is that they have a salsa bar area where you can chose from a few different flavor/heat levels. It's not unlike something you would see at Moe's, just better. The food is all very good, the name of the place is hysterical on it's own just like their road sign talking about stopping by to refuel before you storm Area 51. Ordered Dank Burrito for the first time yesterday through door dash. I got the cheesesteak burrito and since it was my first time I also ordered queso and guacamole to taste it all. The chips were amazing but most of my chips that came with the "chips and queso" appetizer were crushed. I did get a side of chips with the burrito and they were not as crushed. The queso was phenomenal but the quacamole was quite tart... a little too much lime for me and not much flavor otherwise. The cheesesteak burrito may have been the best burrito I've ever had, only the rice inside the burrito wasn't quite cooked all the way and was definitely rather crunchy.
