However, the room was uninviting - the furniture was crappy, the decor was boring, the elevator was one of those annoying types that you have to pass your key over the sensor several times or it might forget what floor you want. The breakfast was fine, but nothing to write home about. And they had a nice big bathtub so I had a lovely soak. The view from the 26th floor restaurant was indeed nice, so yay for that! Plus it's close to the main drag. But I personally, I will certainly spend €150+ per night much more thoughtfully next time I'm in Alicante.

It wasn't that much more money and the wrap around balcony with views of the castle, beach, and harbor made it sooo worth it. Sadly, our "king" bed was two unattached adjacent twins. Otherwise, the room was sufficiently large, clean, and modern. The elevators are perhaps the opposite: old, slow, and sometimes broken. Unfortunately the restaurant/bar on the top floor is kinda sad, which is really a missed opportunity given the views, so we opted to just enjoy our balcony instead. The hotel is about a 5 minute walk to the beach (there aren't really beach front hotels in Alicante, so it's one of the closest). The hotel doesn't have beach towels but you can buy one for 7-8 euro at a market or on the boardwalk. It's also right in the center of the restaurants and shops; Alicante is pretty small and very walkable. Note that parking is not on site. If you're lucky, you can swoop in out front to unload and then move about 8 blocks up to the San Cristobal garage, for which the hotel has a slight discount.

To be a 3 star hotel I think they live up to my expectations and a little bit more but there are some improvements that could be done. The bathrooms were fresh and newly renovated as well as spacious, the AC was efficient and could be turned on even when we left the room, very good! The bed and pillows were good. One disadvantage of the room was that the walls did not seem to be well-insulated against the corridor, as we could hear in the morning, people talking or children running in the corridor. We did not have sea view in our room but instead a large stone wall, which for us was no problem as we we did not choose a sea view. The rooms were cleaned every day and the cleaners was professional. At the hotel there was also a restaurant that I found, had a good range of lunches and dinners and affordable. We didn't include the breakfast in our stay but tried it one of the days during our stay. An okay breakfast buffet but that is not impressive in any way and I can't recommend you to include breakfast if it is not important for you to have breakfast every day and don't care about the selection and quality. The pool is nearby the hotel, and the pool area is not large which can make it hard to find a free sunbed during certain days. The pool was fresh but that some showers near the pool had problems. The area just outside the hotel is perceived to be very worn and reminds me, in the evenings, of a episodes from the series "The walking dead" and this surrounding areas could be improved greatly to enhance the experience of the hotel, I think. There is also a serving just outside the hotel where you could have a drink at or to order food from the restaurant in the hotel, and card payment is not a problem. Check-in and check-out could be done smoothly and they were flexible to accommodate us late in the evening/night. The staff at the hotel are very friendly. An affordable hotel but a bit away from the center of Alicante. Getting to Alicante is not a problem however, there is a tram, 700 meters from the hotel, which is cheap to travel around with, payment machines inside the trams. Parkinglots can you find along the streets and three parking areas below the hotel and next to the sea. No sandy beaches directly below the hotel, but nearby there are two smaller sandy beaches, as well few hundred meters away a larger sandy beach.
